While I'm sure those are nice deals, I got the coolest gift for my wife... two tickets to the stage production of "Young Frankenstein".

Husband win!

I bought the Logitech Harmony One Universal Remote (It's $10 less today than I paid for it yesterday, grr!) and the Yamaha YAS-71BL Front Surround System. Great deals to be had!

Good heavens. Any more buttons on that remote and you'll have the access code to NORAD.

Iraqis say Iran has seized oil well in Southern Iraq

Iranian security forces seized an oil well in southern Iraq on Thursday night, two senior Iraqi government officials said Friday.

According to Bloomberg, it's well number 4 in the al-Fakah region. It's an old oil field that is no longer producing.

Meanwhile, back in Copenhagen...

Ban Ki Moon was supposed to give a press conference, along with the head of the UNFCCC, on what I suppose was a summary of what, if anything, was concluded after the day's negotiations.

It's an hour late, and now only lists the UNFCCC as the briefer... so I take it Ban won't show up. Wonder if that is an attempt at face saving, or if he is in a hurry to get to some photo-op.

The worker bees are still going at it in the plenary, planning for next year's meeting in Mexico. Any odds on if they will have worked out a treaty by then?

I never saw the stage production. Does it follow the plan of the movie? There's one particular line in that movie that has many applications in the world today and is in no danger of being overworked. "You are talking about the nonsensical ravings of a lunatic mind."

I think it's a musical, like The Producers. I'm not sure though.

Arab Paper: Iran to target Netanyahu if nuclear sites attacked

The Kuwaiti newspaper al-Sayissa reported Wednesday that Iran has urgently summoned either Syrian Vice President Farouk Sharaa or Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem and Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah. They are apparently being called to the Iranian capital to receive orders to be carried out in the event of Iranian nuclear sites being targeted in war, Israel Radio reported.

The newspaper quoted a Gulf state diplomat as saying that Nasrallah will travel to Teheran in the coming days in order to receive his marching-orders.

Iranian opposition organizations in Paris told the newspaper that the Iranian intelligence apparatus has established a bank of targets including political leaders and others, who would be targeted if the Iranian sites are attacked.

According to the report, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is among those who would be targeted for assasination, as well as Defense Minister Ehud Barak and others from the UK, France, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

The Jerusalem Post could not independently confirm the report.

All you have to know is what brand/model of TV they have and real good batteries in your remote
Would also depend on the sensor of their device. If it's infrared, you would need to sneak up to their window and aim the remote at the TV. If the device has little antenna on it to pick up the signal without aiming right at it ,, you're in bidness

Seeing how most electronics use a 3 or 4 digit code, it should take 9999 combinations to get the right ones, or if you know the brands, you can find cheat sheets that give you the generally used codes.

I just have this huge mean streak that would love to control a neighbor's TV, just for an evening, so they can freak out trying to figure out why their remote isn't working, why the TV keeps changing channels, etc.

OT, but this long-overdue decision just gives me the holiday fuzzies:

(from WBAL.com)

Baltimore public arts officials have finally decided on where to place a statue of the late Baltimore-born rock musician, Frank Zappa.

The site chosen is in front of the Southeast Anchor library in Highlandtown, according to Roswell Encina, Director of Communications for the Enoch Pratt Free Library.

"One of our hurdles is to try to get new people to come into the Pratt library and we're hoping with the Frank Zappa statue, we'll attract Frank Zappa fans and people who normally wouldn't go to the library," said Encina.

The statue of Zappa was donated over a year ago by a Lithuanian Zappa fan club. Since that time, city officials have looked at various places to put the 15-foot piece of art, including Fells Point and Patterson Park.

Encina said the bust will be placed right in front of the library at Eastern and Conkling. He is not sure when the actual dedication will happen.

Encina added that he is hopeful that both locals and tourists from around the country will find it relatively easy to get to Zappa.

"If anybody was given directions how to find it, it's easier to say it's right in front of the library."

The statue is valued at around $50,000, according to reports. Zappa died in 1993 from prostate cancer at the age of 52.
