I walked into Hollister the other day (I can’t do A & F because of their perfume policy).
They’re selling plaid button up shirts for girls that roll up to the elbow.
I was wearing a plaid button up shirt that rolled up to the elbow.
I bought it in the “Mom’s” section of JC Penney.

I’m not sure in what sense you’re saying they’re “private.” But here’s the important part from the link:
Federal law requires employers to accommodate their workers’ religious practices unless they would cause an undue hardship.
Hopefully they’ll just settle and move on. I doubt if A&F can rationally argue “undue hardship” over a head scarf.

Oh, the Unabomber is pretty hard to classify — some sort of weird cocktail of luddism, survivalism and objectivism?
But squirrel boy is different. The only dissonant chord in his rantifesto is the anti-immigration sentiment; the rest of the message is clearly environmentalist. It’s crazed, extreme environmentalism that makes the other extreme environmentalists look sane by comparison, but still.
Now environmentalism, racial issues, soda machines in schools and a host of other issues don’t have to be, and shouldn’t be, mostly causes of the left. Unfortunately, in our current political environment they are.
I also think that calling Lee a moonbat doesn’t really matter in this case. No figure on the left defends anything remotely similar to his ideas — that goes for the putative “equivalents” of the Becks and Limbaughs of this world. There are no Michael Moores, Garofalos or Penns dogwhistling compulsory infertility or other draconian population control policies. Nevertheless, the idea that, sooner of later, people will have to make some sacrifices in their quality of life due to environmental problems is much more confortable to self-identified lefties.

My mom came around yesterday and brought me a present: A package of nifty heavy weave black socks from Wal-Mart (they were on sale).
Last time she was here, she had taken note of my battered, worn-out and thoroughly ventilated socks, as she has done from time to time since I started wearing socks. The gift was her solution to the problem.
“What if you got run over by a train and some fireman found one of your bloody, severed feet with a beat-up old sock on it?”
“That I could have run faster with new Wal-Mart socks and gotten out of the way?”
“Exactly”
That’s not really how it went but her tone would certainly have suggested such an exchange.
I’m 61 years old, I have a Ph.D, I’ve raised two children, been in two wars and traveled all over the world, but my mom is still around to fret and scold if necessary.

So far, I’m surprised to not have found that much pork barrel stuff. It’s mostly legit.
But this entry amused the hell out of me:
Manufacturers of Certain Worsted Wool Fabrics Grants
The first category are manufacturers of worsted wool fabrics, containing 85 percent or more by weight of wool, with average fiber diameters greater than 18.5 micron (Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS) heading 9902.51.11
…
The second category are manufacturers of worsted wool fabrics, containing 85 percent or more by weight of wool, with average fiber diameters of 18.5 micron or less (HTS heading 9902.51.15, previously HTS heading 9902.51.12)

[Link: www.usatoday.com…]
Cancer has ravaged several of Ann Aberson’s relatives, so she doesn’t have a problem with her two teenage daughters wearing bracelets to raise awareness of breast cancer. But their school principal does.
This week, Baltic High School, just north of here, became one of the latest across the USA to ban the rubber bracelet, which has a message some say is in poor
taste: “I love boobies.”The bracelets have caused controversy in schools in states including California, Colorado, Idaho, Florida and Wisconsin.

Boxer was characteristically facile, but suffered several setbacks. The thing is, there are ‘far-left’ radical terrorists. The dudes who burn down ski lodges, the Bader-Meinhoff gang, the Shining Path. I don’t think most of them are nuts— as in, I think they’ve chosen, ‘rationally’, to be evil fuckers. I doubt they think of themselves as evil, but I do.
But, here in the US, they don’t get an support in the national media, from prominent political figures, etc. They are ostracized nearly completely, on the far, far fringe, untouchable and unwanted by anyone.
Meanwhile, we have Tiller murdered after O’Reilly called him “Tiller the baby killer” repeatedly, we have assholes targeted Muslims in the wake of anti-Muslim propaganda.
The two groups are not comparable, in the modern political world. They might be one day.

Sure.
The NY community center— why are you calling it a mosque?— is being used as terrorist propaganda. How effective that is is up to question. It certainly is true that if there’s hostility towards moderate Muslims here in the US, that’ll push more of them towards extremism.
The IRS guy was a nut. Charles said he was a nut. I agree that he was a nut. He was all over the map in his opinions, they were a mixmash and amalgam.

I dislike using ‘Left’ and ‘Right’ these days after I read this entry in my favorite book.
LEFT VERSUS RIGHT The result of an unfortunate seating arrangement.
In October 1789 the Paris mob, led by women, walked to Versailles, stormed the palace and dragged the king back to town with them. The Assembly had no choice but to follow. Louis was put in his gilded cage, the Tuileries Palace. The nearest building capable of seating several hundred elected representatives in the same room was the palace stables out in what is now the Tuileries Gardens. The need to board a large number of horses had imposed a particular sort of structure. That shape in turn imposed a semi-circular seating plan on the carpenters brought in to do the emergency conversion.
It naturally followed that those who hated each other the most sat as far away from each other as possible, to the extreme left and right of the podium. Thus the needs of horses helped to contribute to our idea of irreconcilable political opposites. Had architecture permitted this semi-circle to complete itself, the reactionaries and the revolutionaries would have found themselves quite naturally sitting together.
I love that book.

I agree. Left and right are completely false distinctions in any ideological way. The only meaning they have is as self-identification, and, in a two party system like ours, partisan allegiance.
There are far too many axises to be described with ‘left’ and ‘right’, and you can get to many positions through either ‘right’ or ‘left’ reasoning.
For example, Pigovian taxes. If you actually want the market to be able to efficiently reward companies for real efficiency, you need to model externalities somehow. If you’re a passionate free market person who wants there to be as little government regulation as possible, Pigovian taxes actually provide a good way to do that by simply calculating the real cost of things with negative externalities— it’s a way to balance the market, not to demand certain outcomes from the market. Likewise, someone who was not so much into free markets and liked more planned economies would see Pigovian taxes as an efficient way not of correcting the market, but determining the outputs of the market.
I don’t think there is any sort of spectrum that exists, or any sort of axis, really. I think such things are useful to politicians to get themselves elected, but not otherwise useful.

politics is killing us. but there are some things Obama is doing that I DO like. by focusing hard on green energy projects, the govt has become sort of a venture capitalist for developing new energy sources. this is absolutely essential and Obama is to be applauded for this. my suggestion is to offer tax incentives to bring those industries to economically hard hit places like Louisiana. because when the oil industry winds down, that area will need even more help.

I do think there is such a thing is speech that is dangerous such as an outright call to violence which is a rarity. Using hyperbole in calling someone a “baby killer” isn’t the same thing as saying “abortion doctors have to die”.
The problem, as I see it, is people wanting to use bad behavior by some as an indictment on speech and to tar political opponents with nutjobs, which is what you did up thread with OReilly. Using your same argument it would be reasonable to blame Al Gore for yesterday since the nut said it was his movie that caused him to have an “awakening”. I didn’t say it was. Likewise, using hyperbole saying that Jews use the blood of Christian babies in rituals isn’t saying “Jews have to die”.
The problem, as I see it, is people wanting to use bad behavior by some as an indictment on speech and to tar political opponents with nutjobs, which is what you did up thread with OReilly.
Do you feel his calling Tiller a ‘baby-killer’ is defensible? All I’m saying is that using that sort of language helps to create an environment where extremist views are tolerated.
Using your same argument it would be reasonable to blame Al Gore for yesterday since the nut said it was his movie that caused him to have an “awakening”.
Not really, no. An Inconvenient Truth is a sober, factual documentary. It is not a fire-throwing movie. It contains no allegations on the level of “X is a baby-killer”. Tiller, on the other hand, was not a baby-killer.
So one thing is a truth, and the other is a hyperbolic lie.
You can’t treat them as though they’re the same, simply because they’re both speech.
I was pleased to see some people finally come to the realization that it’s counter-productive, it’s the equivalent of blaming rape on pornography or violence on video games.
Again, you seem to miss the point. People demonizing groups does increase the tolerance for those groups being persecuted.

Hyperbole is defensible, it’s as old as humans have been using a spoken language and Al gore is just as guilty as the rest of humanity. Using an argument of “We’re all going to die!” is just as hyperbolic as “baby killer!”.
The jewish blood-libel is a different argument. If it were that simple, the accusation alone, isn’t enough to set people off but that isn’t where it’s left. Actual calls to violence, “jews have to die”, is a common thread amongst a large portion of the planet, that’s a much bigger problem than the blood-libel propaganda.
You said:

Based on my understanding of the question I don’t disagree with it entirely but unless their is an explicit call to violence we all have a right to disagree with each other based on whatever reasons we choose. We have people out picketing each other every day based on the flimsiest of reasoning. If you believe behavior is a direct response to speech then what other remedy could you possibly advocate other than the regulation, self-regulating or otherwise, of speech?

re: #172 RogueOne
Hyperbole is defensible, it’s as old as humans have been using a spoken language and Al gore is just as guilty as the rest of humanity.
Magical Balance Fairy rides again!
Using an argument of “We’re all going to die!” is just as hyperbolic as “baby killer!”.
No, it’s not. First of all, Al Gore didn’t say “We’re all going to die.” O’Reilly really did say “Baby killer!” So right there, your argument has fallen apart.
In addition, AGW is real, and it really is going to kill large numbers of people if it goes unchecked. However, Tiller was not killing babies, but one of the few providers of late-term abortions when medically necessary.
If you really think that legitimately pointing out a scientific fact and slandering a doctor are the same thing, I don’t know what else to say. One thing is true, the other is a lie, and you somehow feel they’re both equivalent hyperbole.
We have people out picketing each other every day based on the flimsiest of reasoning. If you believe behavior is a direct response to speech then what other remedy could you possibly advocate other than the regulation, self-regulating or otherwise, of speech?Well, that’s exactly it. I’m talking about self-regulation, about rejecting hate speech, about calling out bigoted statements. I don’t understand why you conflate that with heavy-handed regulation of speech. It makes no sense.
All I’m saying is when people say foul, stupid, contemptible shit that is designed to race-bait and stir people up, that that creates an environment where, lo and behold, people are stirred up, more prone to persecuting the group being targeted, and that decent people ought to stand up to that sort of bigotry, call out the speech for what it is.
I do not get why this is somehow a bad thing.

oil is different … unfortunately. we were addicted to oil before any of us were born. and as long as we are so dependent, we need to guarantee access.
In absolute terms, it is just one energy source out of many, and if we had a truly free market, we would have let the market sort things out a long time ago.
But we failed to heed the warnings we got during the oil crisis of 1973 and took advantage of the Iran-Iraq war of the 80’s which assured us a supply of cheap crude, and we abandoned all plans to do anything about our choice of energy.

I can recall writing to President Clinton more than a few times, and getting written letter responses on WH letterhead. Of course, I also knew that the signature was autostamped, but it didn’t matter.
I wrote to President GW Bush, but never got more than an email response. Didn’t quite get the same feeling… haven’t written to President Obama so I don’t know how he responds.
All of my letters were email submissions btw.

A quick drive-by posting, as I’ve got work to do:
A tip for those looking to get into the ‘baccy processing business:
When thinning out your molasses for casing in preparation to pressing, resist the temptation to heat the mixture in the microwave oven when there’s ANY possibility of your being distracted by other concerns.
Once it gets scorched, molasses tends to foam and pop all over the inside of the microwave, and the clean-up is about as easy as chipping cement from the inside of a wheel barrow.
Heat the solvent, not the sugar, is the lesson here.

I’ve never given out anybody’s real name, and I will not do that. I’m completely perplexed by what’s going on over there. Why that depth of hatred, fer cryin’ out loud? What do they hope to accomplish by publishing my real name? Why me? What have I ever done to any of those people?

Have we all seen this?
Pakistani officials leaving in protest
A delegation of senior Pakistani military officials visiting the United States for a major defense conference headed home in protest Tuesday night after they said they were interrogated and rudely treated by security officials at Dulles International Airport.
But what raised the alarm?
The nine-member group of high-ranking Pakistani officers boarded United Airlines Flight 727 from Washington to Tampa late Sunday but were pulled off the plane after one of them “made a comment to a flight attendant,” said Mike Trevino, a United spokesman.
United did not provide details, but Pakistani officials said the remark came from a general in the delegation who - weary of a long day of travel that began in Islamabad - said, “I hope this is my last flight,” or words to that effect.

Here I come
Walking up the East
We get the funniest looks from
Everyone I meet.
Hey, hey we’re the Hurricane

But we’re too busy raining,

We go wherever we want to,
Do what we like to do.

Israel can want peace all it wants, but until the Palestinians truly declare their interest in peace and renounce terrorism then Israel doesn’t have a partner in peace.
Abbas is playing the same game that Arafat did.
And of course everyone has to ignore Gaza and Hamas’ control of that territory (and their continued declaration and intent to destroy Israel and refusal to recognize Israel’s very existence).

We’re moving from a 2-state solution towards a 3-state solution - Israel, Gazastan, and the West Bank. Abbas has to deliver something to his Fatah supporters, but he can’t make concessions on any of the key issues - Jerusalem, right of return, or territory, which is to say that he’s got no negotiating space even if he wants peace (and I’m not convinced in the slightest of his intentions on that front). He merely wants to continue the status quo since he can continue to rake in the international funds without the obligations to follow through on his commitments under Oslo.

I do think that if the West Bank and Israel’s relationship becomes more peaceful, and the border security can be lessened, it _might_ help public opinion wrt Israel’s handling of Gaza. If the West Bank people can manage live in relative peace, why can’t the Gazans?
(Of course, one can never expect public opinion about Israel to be rational. People will always hate the Jews, even though they claim they’re just “anti-Zionist.”)

The ink of the scholar is more precious than the blood of the martyr.
And here, confirmation: details here, item 5
Over the life of your printer, you’ll probably pay more than 500% of the total price of the printer itself on ink refill cartridges. At $30, a 42ml cartridge of black printer ink comes out to 71 cents per ml. On the other hand, the Red Cross charges $200 for 500 ml of blood, which comes out to about 40 cents per ml.

No. Palestine could commit itself to peace tomorrow and there would still not be peace. Because the rest of the Arab states want the conflict to continue. They would do what they could to break any peace that was made, and launch attacks on Israel by proxy groups.
The solution does not lie solely with the Palestinians. It lies with the rest of the Arab world, especially those who produce anti-semitic lies and propaganda— like our allies, Saudi Arabia.

FWIW - here is my take on the speeches today on the Israeli/Palestinian talks.
Netanyahu restated his/Likud’s long standing positions of placing security before concessions.
Abbas did the standard Arabist routine of reciting resolutions by various international bodies and past declarations to make it seem that the Palestinians are completely in the right in terms of international law, should already be a sovereign state, and that such “negotiations” are (by implication) superfluous.
Clinton did the standard expansive vision coupled with careful caution with a little “we are a peace partner” cherry on top that every US administration does when launching these efforts.
The only interesting thing of note - Abbas referred to himself as basically representing the PLO. He continually referred to the PLO in his statement and not the Palestinian Authority. Why? To signal Hamas that won’t claim any deal done includes them. Coupled with his recitations on “incitement” it is a signal that Fatah will take the Serbian route of continuing to support the violence while pretending to have nothing to do with it.
Why bother? Because more US aid will flow from an administration that wants to place a photo of the Rose Garden signing ceremony in the Presidential Library - the same motivation afflicting and blinding every admin before this one.

An oil rig has exploded in the Gulf of Louisiana, WDSU reports. Thirteen workers aboard the rig were reportedly thrown into the water, but have been accounted for. One person is reported injured.
Update at 11:48 a.m. ET: Coast Guard Petty Officer Casey Ranel says a helicopter was sent to the site after a report that the rig was on fire “and that there was smoke and there were people in the water,” The Times-Picayune of New Orleans reports.
Update at 11:41 a.m. ET: The Coast Guard says the oil rig is located 80 miles south of Vermilion Bay, Louisiana.

I disagree. Jordan and Egypt are at peace with Israel, and they are in closest proximity to Israel. So for starters, not all Arab countries are involved in trying to thwart peace.
Iran and Saudi Arabia are more distant and try to influence the regional politics with their petro dollars via proxies (Syria along with Hamas and Hizbullah and al Qaeda) , but if Abbas and the Palestinians were truly interested in peace, the US monies flowing their way (which is pretty much a given in any peace deal) would outdo the money coming from Iran or Saudi Arabia.
But it’s nice to see you agree with the fact that there will be no peace deal here because the Palestinians are incapable of making a peace deal both because of their internal hatred of Israel’s very existence and the external pressures to continue the conflict via countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia.

re: #287 researchok
No truer words.
Any peace treaty with Israel impacts the Arab world in two important ways.
First and on many levels, a peace treaty would highlight Arab world failures. Notwithstanding obscene oil wealth in comparison to Israel, the Arab world is a third world basket case. The UN Report on Human Development cites the Arab world as having the lowest level of education in the world, save for sub Saharan Africa.
Secondly, and in many ways more importantly, a peace treaty and acceptance of Israel’s right to exist is a repudiation of the Arabs have been told is the Islamic destiny to rule over the Jews. This is something the Arab leadership cannot abide because they have used religion as a political means/too to keep order. As long as religious outrage cannot be focused outward, those regimes remain relatively safe from internal dissent.
Change the focus and rage to point inwards and the power of the regimes wil be diminished and be under threat.
The pursuit of peace is a moral exercise.
When nations that are that are led by or are under the influence of tyrants or dictators, attempt to justify those actions, we can rightly assume that justification is false. Tyrants and dictators do not make moral choices, because moral choices can only lead to the demise of the tyranny.
Anyone that comes to the defense of tyrannical regimes and their leaders, have themselves made a conscious choice to defend and stand by what is immoral. They themselves consciously adopt an immoral posture.
Peace at this time is very unlikely.

I am not sure that the Palestinians would not agree to any peace deal.
I think most Palestinians would support a deal that -
1) dissolved the state of Israel
2) expelled all Jews from the region
3) forced multi-generational reparations payments on said expelled Jews.
Not only would Palestinians support that but I’d say a lot of the European Left would too.

i think you and Obdicut are both right. but in the mideast, you can see how the various muslim believers treat each other …. and it’s can be pretty ugly. the only thing these groups agree on is their shared hatred of the Jews. So in their attempt at arab/muslim unity, there is only one thing that holds them together. and here’s a hint … it is not peace with Israel.

re: #290 lawhawk
Egypt and Jordan are not at peace with Israel. They may have signed peace treaties but by any standard of measurement, their understanding of what is ‘peace’ is very different than our own.
Israel is being tolerated for the moment- but the constant calls in Egypt and Jordan for rescinding the peace treaty and of recognition of Israel is a reminder of just what kind of ‘peace’ really does exist.
Take away US foreign aid committments to Egypt and Jordan and the ‘peace’ will fade away.

Jordan is indeed trying to thwart the peace, or they would give the West Bank Palestinians citizenships and not keep them holding out for a ‘right of return’ to Israel.
That’s great. It wouldn’t stop the attacks on Israel, and good money doesn’t really cancel out bad. We already give them shitloads of money, remember. If we give them shitloads more, it’s not going to buy off the people who are ideologically committed; they will still be there for the Saudis and others to use.
But it’s nice to see you agree with the fact that there will be no peace deal here because the Palestinians are incapable of making a peace deal both because of their internal hatred of Israel’s very existence and the external pressures to continue the conflict via countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia.
Oh, there may be a peace deal that might achieve a little, but it won’t really do anything for Israel. I doubt there will be any deal, yes. But I think constantly talking about the conflict in terms of Israel-Palestine, rather than Isreal-rest-of-the-Arab-world-and-Iran, is useful. It completely distorts the magnitude of the problem.
There is also the sadness that peace-loving Palestinians of intelligence and moral character have also been fleeing Palestine, as fast as they can. I know lots of great Palestinians in the US. They’re here in the US because they don’t want to be in the middle of the conflict, they don’t want to be party to Hamas and other terrorist attacks. So, year by year, the population in Palestine becomes more radicalized, pushed by Saudi propaganda, by the refusal of the Arab countries to accept refugees, and by their hideous, malignant leadership.

So, if some people in a country have opinion X, then we should treat the country as having opinion X? Does that mean that your “constant call” to revoke foreign aid is official pollicy of the U.S?
It’s starting to sound to me like a lot of people here don’t want a peace process to succeed. Yes, the litany of things that various Palestinian groups and Arab nations have done wrong is a very very very long one. But blame isn’t a solution.
Netanyahu’s and Abbas’ comments actually sounded like there might be some room to get somewhere this time. They’re certainly more hopeful than the last time around. But listening to all of these posts of people insisting that Palestinians/Arabs are completely irredeemable makes it sound like the only solution y’all could possibly advocate is just glass-cratering everything in the region except for Israel. I’m sure there are people in all of the countries who are just as stuck in this finger-pointing game. I hope this is a chance for cooler heads to ignore them all.

Exactly. No modern Muslim politician in the Middle East can run on a ‘I ensured peace with Israel and the continued existence of Israel’ platform.
And they will not be able to until the disgusting anti-Israel, anti-semitic propaganda stops flowing out of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Iran, and all the other countries there.
Or until those governments fall.

I’m a little confused about this. Stopping refugees at the border (as they have done in the past) is awful, but why are people insisting that as a matter of regular policy, the Israel/Palestinian conflict is the neighboring Arab states’ fault because they won’t support simply expelling all Palestinians from expanded Israel? Are you advocating kicking all the Palestinians out as a solution?

I’m not assinging ‘blame’. I’m saying that there is no possible way for Israel to have peace with people who depend on vilifying them in order to maintain political control.
That has to stop being the political tactic of the Arab states, or peace talks are obviously bogus.

re: #286 Obdicut
A quote from my nephew, who is well versed in diplomacy “The Arab world is willing to fight Israel down to the last Palestinian”

it all boils down to a pathological hatred of the Jews. Israeli leaders understand this but still they try. they deserve credit, but are not obligated to commit national suicide.
Tell that to the Peace Now types. I lack adequate words to describe my feelings for these people and their “Give them what they want and we’ll live in peace and harmony forever, with rainbows and unicorns” attitude. I’ve concluded that they are sadomasochists at heart.

In my mind, we need to stop trying to do that calculation. What good will it do? If that’s relevant, then your only options are to either (a) use that as a reason to not try to have peace at all, or (b) try to match how bad they’re being with how bad you can be.
When you sit down to negotiations, certainly everything the other side is currently doing that’s an obstacle should be items on the table to be resolved. But that’s as far as it goes. Otherwise going on about it is an obstacle.

No, I’m talking about, mainly, the decision of the Arab states to deny citizenship status to the children of refugees as well as the original refugees.
You know about that, right?
Sure. But that’s not directly relevant.
Let me illustrate what I’m trying to get at here, if I can:
AMERICA: You should take all our Muslims from now on in open immigration.
CANADA: Why?
AMERICA: We’re not getting along very well, and it would be really helpful if they could move to your country instead.
CANADA: You’re kicking out all your Muslims? WTF?
AMERICA: Well, we’re not exactly kicking them all out right now. We’d like to get along better with them, but if they can’t all flee the country at any moment and live somewhere else then I’m afraid we just won’t be able to.
CANADA: This is totally fucked up, eh! We’re not going to go along with that.
AMERICA: Well then, it’s all your fault that we aren’t getting along.
Mind you, the Arab states are being way over the top in insisting that all Palestinians and their kids never get local status in the presumed hopes that they’ll be able to send them back down the road. But I don’t see that as actually being relevant in whether Israel can come to a peace deal with (some representative organization of) Palestinians.

re: #330 elbruce
Why are you saying that Israel wants to deport all the Muslims, though?
That’s what you have to have, if your analogy is true.
It’s not.

Not relevant? Really? The fact that the Arab states inform these refugees that the only chance at a normal life they ever have for their children is for Israel to unconditionally allow right of return isn’t relevant to the peace process?
I can see you thinking that Israel is in the wrong on that, and that they should allow the refugees back— I can see that more than I can see the idea that it’s not ‘relevant’.

re: #178 Obdicut
You’re joking, right?
I’ve written to public officials my whole life. Lots of times. Hundreds, maybe thousands of times.
I don’t think I’m on a list. I think it’s far more likely that those letters have never actually been read, or, if they have, have been glossed to extract some bullet-point meaning.
I was only teasing. There was a story recently though about a crank who kept writing his congressman nasty letters and he did have a visit from investigators. I want to say it was in PA but I’m not 100% sure.
OTOH, if you’ve written that many times you’re definitely on “the list”.

re: #331 Obdicut
Why are you saying that Israel wants to deport all the Muslims, though?
That’s what you have to have, if your analogy is true.
In that analogy, Israel = America, Palestinians = American Muslims. Both would have to map over.
And I’m not saying that Israel wants to deport all Palestinians. But if you believe that neighboring Arab states refusing take all Palestinians is a roadblock to Israeli/Palestinian peace, then you are logically implying that.
re: #331 Obdicut
Not relevant? Really? The fact that the Arab states inform these refugees that the only chance at a normal life they ever have for their children is for Israel to unconditionally allow right of return isn’t relevant to the peace process?
No, it’s a completely separate issue. Mind you, the Palestinian side might want to make that right of return an item on the negotiating table, but they’d probably want to regardless of what the neighboring states did.
