That is the view that the majority of Americans seem to hold on SP: she might have been qualified to be the governor of a state with a population less than that of Phoenix, Arizona, but is just not at all fit for national politics.

Some comments from Hot Air…
I know this is a terrible thing to say but this country would have been better off if George H.W. Bush had not made it out of his crippled plane in WWII. We would have avoided a huge amount of destructive, elitist, “compassionate conservative” idiocy from his entire family. The net effect of their “leadership” has been very costly to the country and to the Republican Party.

During the 2nd half of the video, I infer that they’re talking about W’s memoir.
I’ve read it, and while it is pretty shallow overall, there are some remarkably interesting parts. His tales of being a drunk are told in defiance of pride. The parts concerning 9/11 are pretty interesting. He admits to feeling completely helpless and impotent the whole day. According to him, he was giving orders (mostly amounting to “take me back to the White House”) that were being heavily resisted or flat out ignored.
What I found most interesting was the acknowledgment that Bush and Cheney had what at times was a very rough and contentious relationship, especially during the last half of the 2nd term.
He all but flat-out says that he agreed with the conviction of Scooter Libby, and recounts Cheney’s rage.
Ultimately, I reached the same conclusion I had in 2007: the jury verdict should be respected. In one of our final meetings, I informed Dick that I would not issue a pardon. He stared at me with an intense look. “I can’t believe you’re going to leave a soldier on the battlefield,” he said. The comment stung. In eight years, I had never seen Dick like this, or even close to this. I worried that the friendship we had built was about to be severely strained, at best.

George Bush is a decent man by himself, for the most part. The people he brought with him however, are different shades of evil. Cheney and Rove were the worst. Rove is responsible for fostering the Tea Party mentality in the GOP until it finally came to fruition last year. Now of course, he hates the tea party people, but he had a hand in bringing up that beast.

re: #26 Killgore Trout
They don’t get it. They imagine that they are storming the castle and taking over the Republican party. They may be able to drive the GOP platform but their elected official will never be able to deliver on it once elected. It’s impossible.
They’re a populist party, not a republican, conservative party. As a historian I have to say that they have no juice without the failing economy.

It will be hard for the Bush family to see Gov Palin destory thier GOP party and remake it back into the Party of reagan but then again there is a certain irony in it..
