Heh. My old stomping' grounds. Used to hike for hours on end thru the "jungle" there back in the 70s. Nice to see again.

The pig seemed to act as if he had an idea the camera was there... the other animals were pretty but clueless.
Hmmm... I wonder if there is a lesson in there for life...

Pigs are among the most intelligent animals - and that one was clearly curious about the camera.

My thoughts were a. Yep, that's a pig and b. I bet he's wondering if the camera is edible.

Pig can probably smell human scent. I bet we stink.

That tiger did appear thinner to me than zoo tigers.
It probably doesn't have three hots and a cot.

Opening shot reminded me of an old Ellen Degeneres skit
Said she was out on the woods and saw a deer,, how pretty it looked ,,, peaceful,,, drinking water,, and thought to herself "if i only had a ,,(pause),,, shotgun"

no Bigfoot?...pfftt
No Bigfoot, zombies, sparkly vampires, DB Cooper, leprechauns, werecreatures, or yetis.
I'm sure these were edited out.

Marbled cat was my favorite, probably chew my arm off tho... The "deer" move/look similar to the whitetailed deer.

It was probably looking for something edible as well.

Sumatra is mostly jungle as are the other islands. One can drive across Java. You fly across the other islands of any size. Java has most of the population. Sumatran Tigers tend to be small and skinny when compared to a Bengal or ones we see in zoos.

I'm anxiously waiting for the rain to hear if the frogs start talking. Not many frog survivors from the diaper rat horde. I hear one young adult talking a few days ago and found one very young one hanging out in the leeks. There are a few survivors but not many considering about 150 tadpoles left the pond this summer.

The war goes well. I love that pellet gun, lots of fun and quick one shot kills. I just heard my young adult frog talking to himself (no companions yet) but he's been hanging out in the soybeans very close to where the rat infestation was. He's surviving so that's a good sign the rat population has decreased to a manageable size.

Btw, it's very sad to see Gus leave. especially since it was, at least in part, on account of my postings. I've always been a softy when it comes to lizards leaving and I've had more leave because of me than I care to remember. The one that still haunts me the most was one of the earliest ones back in about 2005-2006. A guy named MiguelDowninMexico. Seemed a nice enough guy, very prolific poster and very religious. He took issue to my postings as an atheist. I don;t think I ever argued with him or exchanged cross words but he didn't like my content. He flounced a few times but would always come back after a week or two. Then he flounced and was gone for a month or two. When he came back he told us that he had a stroke. It was obvious that he'd suffered a pretty serious stroke and lost motor control and really couldn't type anymore. Very slow, lots of typos, no caps, etc. He made a few posts and was gone forever. I hope he's doing ok.

Gus knows he's welcome back. If it's not doing him any good to be here, he shouldn't be here; that's a judgement only he can make. I hope things in his life go better for him. Dude deserves a break. Maybe two or three.

re: #34 Killgore Trout
Miguel was a sweetie. But don't let his absence haunt you. It's not right for anyone to expect people they don't agree with to stay quiet. And if reading some stuff is too disturbing, the scroll wheel should be employed, or a break taken.

re: #45 Floral Giraffe
I can relate. While I had the Indonesian military and Pertamina (Indonesia's oil co.) support in moving large distances. Once the equipment was set up I could take off alone for days thru the jungle, and did. I figured two things. 1) do it now because I would never get the opportunity later in life or be physically capable (I was in my early 30s) and 2) the wilderness was slowly being destroyed before my eyes even then. I made cassette recordings of the wildlife and me describing it and my surroundings and sent them to my grandmother who was stuck in a nursing home back in the states.

Yes, and Andrew Breibart intends to stalk it through the jungle, then assemble dishonestly edited footage of it to portray its gathering fruit for its family as "GODLESS SOCIALISM!!1"

In all fairness, there are a LOT of hurting people in this economy, who don't know where to turn or what to do. I'm not saying Gus is one of them, but a little extra patience and kindness is needed, when there are people out of work for years.

Actually the journey went on for about 5 years. Every major island, many minor ones and some unnamed (really out there) ... G'ma had many tapes - she shared them with the other residents.
