Got to reminiscing about the Southeast Asian unpleasantness in the last string. War truly is hell. Sometimes I am tempted to think that politicians must be devils or sub-human monsters to let their ambitions and machinations unleash these horrors upon the world. Then I realize the even more ghastly truth: They are human beings, a lot like me or you. A lot like me or you.
Peace to all, today and all days.

In 1977, after several years spent living in Spain, he returned to Argentina which was governed at the time by the military dictatorship of Jorge Rafael Videla. The government saw a menace in Cafrune's outspoken music, particularly his politically controversial song, Zamba de mi esperanza. On his persistence, Cafrune said, "Although it is not in the authorized repertoire, if my people requests it of me, I am going to sing it." On January 31, 1978, Lieutenant Colonel Carlos Enrique Villanueva ordered the assassination of Cafrune. After being run over by a van driven by two nineteen year old men, Cafrune died within twelve hours.

Donald Trump breaks with GOP, changes party registration
Donald Trump is declaring his independence.
After years as a registered Republican, the outspoken real estate mogul has filed paperwork to become an unaffiliated voter in his home state of New York.
Trump made the change official Thursday, a move prompted by his stated interest in mounting a third-party presidential run in 2012.
The fun never ends.

I hear that. I have a great deal of respect for those who don't want children. Much more mature a decision than those who kinda want them and then find out how much work they are.

I woke up at about 3 this morning. Matilda the cat shit on the floor and stunk up the house then proceeded to run around knocking things over and noisily scratching on cardboard boxes.
On the bright side there's a very beautiful sunrise this morning and I'll have a satisfying nap this afternoon.

I went to church last night (no shit). One of my brothers married an Episcopalian (we actually went to Catholic grade school together) and their kids (my niece and nephew) read some of the Xmas readings. My newphew, who is 11 now (or 9) sounded exactly like Linus from the Peanuts' Charlie Brown Christmas show...it was pretty impressive. And one of the altar boys wore a cow head...he was part of the pageant(impromptu manger scene during mass)...that was kind of funny, actually...everyone in their ceremonial robes...including Bessy the cow.

One of our best ancient Chrtistmases included a mildly drunk friend who showed up with a pump-gun that shot standard ping-pong balls. He offered each of us kids a prize for each ornament we could shoot from the tree. (Best from the kid POV, anyway.)

That was the 3rd flight. The dogs loved it from the moment it started spinning but I couldn't keep it in the air long enough to get any good shots. She took some video to send her parents of the 2nd flight, now I wish she would have waited. I have the hang of it now, the controls are really easy to use. It's really impressive for something so small and only cost ~$30. If he manages to take it out it's already been worth it.

Also the editorial bias in the slideshow couldn't be more obvious. Not that I'm a fan of any of the Republican candidates but the way they're depicted vs Obama is pretty blatant. The pic of Newt next to some dope in a bad elephant costume is pretty funny but hardly an important picture. Same with the shadowy silhouette of Bachmann in a dark bus.

I thought they skipped Republican frontrunner Mitt altogether but I went back again and they do have a Mitt pic but it's not even a recognizable pic of him. Heh.

Hackers attack US security think tank Stratfor, promise more targets for Christmas
Hackers on Sunday claimed to have stolen a raft of e-mails and credit card data from U.S.-based security think tank Stratfor, promising it was just the start of a weeklong Christmas-inspired assault on a long list of targets.
One alleged hacker said the goal was to use the credit data to steal a million dollars and give it away as Christmas donations.
...
Wishing everyone a “Merry LulzXMas” — a nod to its spinoff hacking group Lulz Security — Anonymous also posted a link on Twitter to a site containing the email, phone number and credit number of a U.S. Homeland Security employee. The employee, Cody Sultenfuss, said he had no warning before his details were posted.
“They took money I did not have,” he told The Associated Press in a series of emails, which did not specify the amount taken. “I think why me? I am not rich.”
One member of the hacking group, who uses the handle AnonymousAbu on Twitter, claimed that more than 90,000 credit cards from law enforcement, the intelligence community and journalists — “corporate/exec accounts of people like Fox” news — had been hacked and used to “steal a million dollars” and make donations.

She is visiting Holy Sites all over Israel: Jerusalem, Meron, Hebron, special visit to Safed to visit her aunt (my daughter) and other aunts, uncles & cousins all over.
It's a very special trip because she is all by herself (with her parents) not sharing the experience with brother and sisters.

I downloaded a Beethoven album from Amazon, and the Downloader has somehow decided to download everything 3 times!
I will have to delete the duplicates before transferring the tracks to the MP3.
Also, the last album that I downloaded, got the symphonies mixed together, downloaded the first movement of Symphony #4, then the first movement of Symphony #9, and so on.
I tried deleting the album and downloading it again, and the tracks are still in the wrong order! Must be that way on the album.

Nobody would ever put out an album like that, it must be a mistake.

Happy Christmas Sunday, y'all! We're having a quiet, relaxing day snuggled in and cozy on a cold, rainy day, just taking the day off. We (my two dogs and I) were supposed to be visiting friends for the weekend but had to cancel at the last minute thanks to Purina. They poisoned my dogs. Bad. I actually feared losing my older boy, he was so sick from that "premium" food. Chef Michael's Filet Mignon - only the best ingredients because they care about my pets. Really. They said so right on the package.
Fortunately, both of them have recovered pretty much so we can relax today. I am seriously relieved and they're happy that Mom is once again cooking for them.

I am enjoying the day knowing I do not have to go to work tomorrow. I will probably be headed to Wegman's and BJ's tomorrow.

I'm back!
Damage done:
4 pints Blue Moon ale w/orange slice at Baggy's by the Lake
1 meal at House of Chicken and Waffles (waffle, 2 wings, mac 'n cheese, + coffee)
Double shot, neat, Glen Fiddich at Ruby's Red Room
now home.
Feeling pretty darned good.
You shouldn't mix your drinks. Coffee was a bad idea. It should have been another Glen Fiddich.

Curious decision to include pictures of the Greek austerity riots and the senseless London riots as the first 2 pics in the OWS part of the slideshow. I guess it advances the desired narrative but they don't really belong.
Merry Christmas Killgore.

Ron Paul is being smeared by Karl Rove (pal of Carl Bildt) on FOX for his defense of WikiLeaks. Paul needs help. theweek.com/article/index/…
That's right folks. Wikileaks thinks Ron Paul needs your help.
Meanwhile over at Think Progress's latest on Ron Paul, "Sen. Lugar Says Country Can't 'Afford' Ron Paul's Foreign Policy Views" I found this gem of a comment:

ThinkProgress is a great source of news, but I still think they are being rewarded in some fashion to keep quiet about WTC 911 Truther movement. Soros?

Yeah. Notice the strategic use of the Karl Rove meme. I'm surprised they didn't bring up Haliburton. From now on anyone that criticizes Ron Paul is clearly on the Karl Rove payroll.
None of this surprise me though. Ron Paul think Bradley Manning is some kind of hero. Many on the left have always been infatuated with Ron Paul and his anti-war magic wand messaging.
