Fear the Vetting! Breitbart.com Editor Joel Pollak’s Latest Bombshell Exclusive

Vetting the bed again
Wingnuts • Views: 37,169

Diligently working night and day to do the vetting the mainstream media refuses to do (because they’re IN ON IT), breitbart.com editor Joel Pollak has released a new BOMBSHELL EXCLUSIVE report on Barack Obama’s evil plots.

Well, actually, it’s not really about an evil plot. It’s a document that shows Obama graduated from Columbia University in 1983.

Which everyone already knew.

The Vetting - Exclusive Document Debunks Myth About Obama’s Columbia Years!

It’s almost cute how Pollak pumps up this total non-story, almost managing to make it seem as if breitbart.com is doing real journalism.

The image above—never before released—is from public records at Columbia University that prove that Obama did, in fact, graduate in 1983 from the Ivy League school. Contrary to some conspiracy theories, Obama was a student within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences—not the less selective, “nontraditional” Columbia University School of General Studies (which only merged with the Faculty of Arts and Sciences in 1990).

This never-before-seen document debunks a persistent myth that is unfairly unfavorable to the President.

Some “fact-checking” websites—such as snopes.com and FactCheck.org—have attempted to debunk the “Obama never graduated Columbia” conspiracy theory before. Yet they have relied almost entirely on secondary sources and mainstream media reports, which fail to cite primary sources. And the Obama campaign has not provided details of his admission to, or graduation from, the prestigious Ivy League school.

Crucially, Obama has refused to release his college transcripts from Columbia and Occidental College, which certainly do exist. Other candidates—such as George W. Bush—released their transcripts, though their grades were not necessarily flattering.

The mainstream media has clamored for, and investigated, and leaked information about other presidential candidates. But not Barack Obama—not in 2008, and not now. …

As more and more information about Obama emerges—through Breitbart News and other New Media sources, left and right—the failing mainstream media look more and more foolish, reduced to beatifying the president instead of reporting what he and his administration have done to this country.

Yes, that’s right; Pollak is congratulating himself on “debunking a myth” that circulates only on the fringes of the conspiracy-minded right wing, a myth that no sane person in America believes. A myth that needs no debunking, because it’s batshit loony from square one.

Devastating.

UPDATE at 5/19/12 12:28:52 pm

By the way, Pollak is flat wrong when he says George W. Bush released his Yale transcripts. In the real world, Bush tried to prevent the transcripts from getting out, but they were leaked to The New Yorker.

The fail is strong in Joel Pollak.

Next thing you know, they'll report that Barack Obama really did go to Harvard Law School and really did teach at the University of Chicago.

Eventually, they might even discover that he was born in Hawaii and that he is, in fact, a citizen.

What's funny about that is that many church-goers oppose marriage equality. What's the reason why people feel it necessary to specify their race? Older people also oppose marriage equality. What % of black youth oppose same-sex marriage?

Please also note that black voters turned out in huge numbers to vote for Obama even as the majority of those voting for Obama also supported Proposition 8.

The assumption, for the most part, is that Obama "threw away" the black and hispanic vote by supporting gay marriage, which "traditional knowledge" says doesn't go over well with the black and hispanic voters who tend to be more religious. The unspoken hope is that those votes will, if not stay home, then go to the Republicans in order to "defend" marriage.

It's my understanding from reading an article about Latinos and marriage equality that many seem to see it as an extension of how important family is to the Latino community. That is to say, perhaps they see homosexuality as a sin but they won't turn their back on a gay friend or relative either and want to wish them the same respect under the law. Your theory works too because Catholics do tend to believe in strong separation of church and state as you said.

I'm noticed much the same in my research, while black voters for the most part haven't allowed Obama's change of heart to affect their support of him. But what we have on the other hand are Republicans desperate too, if not win support of black and hispanic voters, then to "neutralize" them at the polls.

I think that's the hope. One that I think is guided by delusions. Personally, I think the president did a great job of explaining why he and many other Americans support marriage equality. He showed that it's at its core an issue about our fellow human beings. Meanwhile Romney's been going to Liberty and pandering to the anti gay bigots.

I find it fascinating that there's all this brouhaha about candidates who apparently refuse to release college transcripts.

As I understand it, college transcripts are NOT Public Records and can therefore only be released if the person connected to the transcripts allows them to.

If I were running for office, I would probably release my own transcripts. I pulled in a decent GPA and I'm not ashamed that I didn't do particularly well in certain classes. It was my own fault and I accept responsibility for the low quality of my work in those courses.

Having said that, I don't think any candidate should be required to release their transcripts.

For me personally, I consider myself more responsible and more educated now than I did when I was in college (should be obvious really). Why then, does it make sense for anyone to run me down for not being the most mature responsible student in my early 20s??

I agree. I just don't think that many people are as terrified of the ghey menace as the GOP believes, even among their own primary voters. Santorum and Gingrich vilified the gheys and performed poorly. I can't imagine why anybody would think this issue would win the GOP extra votes in a general election.

Yes - I know the "assumption."

But my point is that it's a stupid assumption. There is a strong connection between majority black opinion on gay marriage and the level of church-going in the black community. It's a religious thing not a race thing. And the voting history in California tells us that it's quite possible for black voters to oppose same sex marriage and support Obama. Yes, they really are sophisticated enough to separate the issues (shocking, I know), and while there might be a tiny number of highly religious blacks who might be affected by Obama's change of stance on same-sex marriage, anyone who thinks it will make a significant difference has not a fucking clue about what motivates the majority of black voters.

It's a losing issue in the long run for them. Hopefully if Obama wins this time will show them that and they'll finally ditch the religious right.

Those blacks who are "concerned" about Obama's stance on same sex marriage weren't going to vote for him in the first place

I mean, seriously, someone who previously voted Democratic because of Dems position relative to Repubs on a whole raft of issues is going to change their voting behavior because he switched from basically neutral on same sex marriage to a supporter?

In 2007, the former Massachusetts governor told an audience in College Station, Texas, "I saw my father march with Martin Luther King." But as David Bernstein reported, that wasn't quite right. There was no evidence of Romney’s father, George, marching with MLK at Grosse Pointe, Michigan, as the campaign had claimed; for one thing, MLK had never been to Grosse Pointe. The campaign later clarified that George Romney and MLK had marched together in a metaphorical sense—they were in different cities, and the marches took place on different days—and that Mitt (who was not present for either event) had seen his father march in a metaphorical sense as well. Romney’s justice advisory committee includes failed Supreme Court nominee Robert Bork, who has written that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 established "a principle of unsurpassed ugliness."

Reminds me of how I used to roll with Sir Mix a Lot, in the metaphorical sense that my posse was also on Broadway.

It's an outcrop of the Birther business, the theory that Obama's got something to hide in his transcripts and that's why he's refusing to release them. One of the leading theories, as least the one I've run into most often, is that he registered under a different name and nationality. It's supposed to be an extension of their theory that he renounced his citizenship while overseas in Indonesia and thus could not qualify as a "natural-born citizen" or some such nonsense.

Basically they're trying to go "Okay, he was born in Hawaii, but he stopped being an American, so his election is still invalid!"

In order to be a single-issue voter you see, you must be relatively well off, with few other concerns.

Because of the effects of Jim Crow and other Discrimination, Hispanics and African Americans are disproportionately poorer. The ones who can vote (I mean in economic terms) have bigger concerns than what guy and gals are doing with their fun parts.

Oh brother, Geraldo is at it again

Geraldo Rivera (again) says Trayvon Martin's 'thug wear' got him profiled

“The marijuana is probably a lot less powerful than the surveillance video at the 7/11,” Rivera said, going on to say that Martin was “dressed in that thug wear – look at the size of him, he’s not a little kid.” He adds, “Trayvon Martin looks just like people who had been burglarizing and victimizing that neighborhood for the past 6 months.”
...
In the weeks after the shooting, thousands of Americans donned hoodies to protest both what they believed was a case of racially motivated profiling and racial injustice. Last week, an entrepreneur quickly sold out of a stockpile of gun targets depicting someone, presumably Martin, in a hoodie.

Arnold Pointer a professional fisherman from south of Australia set free from a certain death a big female White Shark that was caught in his fishing nets. Now the fisherman has a problem: He says: "It's been two years and she doesn't leave me alone. She follows me everywhere I go and her presence scares all the fishes. I don't know what to do anymore..."Arnold is quoted as saying: "Once I stop the boat she comes to me, she turns on her back and let me pet her belly and neck, she grunts, turn her eyes, and move her fins up and down hitting the water happilly..."

Man, maybe it's me, but I'm not following this. Pollak's first paragraph reads:

Breitbart News’ discovery of the 1991 biography distributed by Barack Obama’s then-literary agency, which stated (incorrectly) that Obama had been “born in Kenya,” confirmed what we have been saying for months as we pursued “The Vetting” project. Much of what the country ought to know about Obama, but does not, is hidden--often in plain sight--yet the mainstream media covers it up or spins it away to protect him.

So he's saying that the literary agent's mistake that Obama was born in Kenya proves that Obama was not thoroughly investigated by the MSM? Am I reading this right?

We've been saving for ours for years, and it took over two years of planning and submitting plans to our town for approval. We finally got a variance to build (our house is situated strangely on our property, built 2 feet off the property line), and it'll be nice to have the extra space and storage areas.

I don't want no tropical storm slowing us down at this point. The sooner we get through construction, the better as far as I'm concerned.

Speaking of pandemonium, I wonder what will happen to public education in Texas if the reactionary right finally gets a solid majority:

GOP Candidates for Texas Ed Board: Government Not Responsible for Education

At least 10 out of 27 Republicans seeking election to the State Board of Education (SBOE), which oversees public education across Texas, say they don’t agree that “it is the government’s responsibility to be sure children are properly educated.” Of 13 Republicans responding to a candidate survey sent out by a collection of religious-right groups, three said they “disagree” with that statement, while another seven said they “strongly disagree.”

Eight Republican candidates in the May 29 SBOE primaries didn’t respond to the survey. Six candidates who are unopposed in their GOP primaries did not get the questionnaire. Just three Republicans affirmed the importance of public education in Texas. The religious-right groups that sponsored the survey (all of which are nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations) didn’t question Democratic candidates.

Navy Chaplain Guilty Of Disobeying an Order
By Alan Cooperman
Washington Post Staff Writer
Friday, September 15, 2006

A Navy court decided yesterday to reprimand and dock the pay of an evangelical Protestant chaplain after finding him guilty of disobeying an order by appearing in uniform at a political protest in front of the White House in March.

The chaplain, Lt. Gordon J. Klingenschmitt, said he intends to "appeal by all means possible all the way to the Supreme Court."

Klingenschmitt, 38, who belongs to a small evangelical offshoot of the Episcopal Church, has been a vocal critic of the Navy's policies on prayer in ceremonial settings. He has accused his superiors of pressuring chaplains to offer generic, nonsectarian prayers, and he has gained wide attention and sympathy among religious conservatives...

During a recent encounter with Wasserman Schultz in Chattanooga, Wolfe says the two got into an argument about the rights for Tennessee farmers to sell their goods to Cuba. But Wolfe says he’s never heard from the national party or the Obama campaign.

Wolfe has been critical of Obama for being tied too closely with Wall Street interests and not pursuing a more forthrightly liberal agenda, like a single-payer health care system that Wolfe (and other Democrats, he says) prefer to Obamacare. And he criticizes the president’s style. “He doesn’t like to be challenged,” he says. “Strong people don’t mind dissent.”

A lawyer from Chattanooga, Wolfe speaks in a Southern drawl, and says Obama and national Democrats don’t want to acknowledge that there are members of the party like him.

“He says ‘Chil-ay’ and “Pah-kee-stahn’,” Wolfe says, emphasizing Obama’s pronunciations of Chile and Pakistan. “I say ‘Chil-ee’ and ‘Pack-a-stan.’ They like a person who talks like them.”

And if he's right, I can't see any reason for the democrat party to prevent him from winning delegates.

Mitt'll win Florida. He may not win the election, but I do this he'll win Florida.

He's only leading by eight in Texas right now...Texas! That's traditionally a slam-dunk state for Republicans. If Romney has to spend any amount of time campaigning in Texas, he'll be stretched thin in places like Florida.

Well, if there are hundreds of demons in existence, and most of them are male, then chances are good that gay demons really do exist. But the catch is that their being gay doesn't make them evil, they're just evil beings that happen to be gay.

I've actually read that Jeb Bush did better than Rubio with non-Cuban Latinos than Rubio did. Plus, Mitt's immigration rhetoric I imagine turns more Latino voters off than on. I think the state will be close. Winner wins by 1-2%.

I do think/agree that Florida is the biggest of the states that Obama turned over to the Democrats in 2008 that is likely to go back to the Republicans this year outside of North Carolina/Indiana. I think he'll do better in Florida than the rust belt. I actually think in an odd way that Santorum would do as well as Romney in the RB since Santorum's more of a populist in tone than Romney and populism sells in those states.

NYPD Loses 2nd Occupy Wall Street Trial

Again, just as in Arbuckle's case, Hall was acquitted after the NYPD's own surveillance video showed that police lied were mistaken in their testimony.

On the stand, Hall's arresting officer, Sgt. Michael Soldo, said he arrested her because she was blocking traffic. But as Soldo admitted under cross-examination, and as the NYPD's own video documentation confirmed, it was actually the NYPD metal barricades running all the way across William Street that was preventing vehicles from passing.

Jeb did better back before the "Oh no, non-whites" crap ramped up. Rubio is trying to get Republicans in Florida to knock that shit off in order to build a coalition that can be the "normal majority" in Florida. I think he has a good shot to do that, but much will depend on the extent to which he can overcome demands for purity by arguing the necessity of coalition building.

Texas is a different case, as the GOP there does not have any forward thinking leaders, not one.

Before I head out for my evening constitutional, I'll throw this out: For those following my and Sergey's (and a few others') conversation over Ehrman's Did Jesus Exist, one side note was a recent debate in which Ehrman was participating in which his opponent (an apologetic Christian) threw out that new fragments of the Gospels had been found, very early and maybe even first century - this came as a surprise to lots of people (not the least of whom was Ehrman.)

Anyway, yesterday a video was posted regarding some of this:

There's a lot to be said about this, a whole lot, like books-full of stuff need to be said.

Regardless, I find it interesting (in not a good way) that these new papyrii are brought forward to the world along with a book publishing deal... and not first to scholastic journals.

This has fingerprints on it - not directly bearing out on whether such fragments really exist - if they do they will someday be put on display at least for scholars, and tested independently, eventually.

Rather, on what is not being revealed.

It is suspected that the Hobby Lobby billionaire is behind some of this... and yes this starts to look like a Dan Brown novel.

Truth is murkier than fiction.

200 freetoken  Sat, May 19, 2012 5:52:46pm

Here's one tidbit: listen closely to what is being said in that video.

I call it fallacy by suggestion.

Here's the fallacy:

Because we now know that the books we call Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John do indeed date from the end of the first century or very early in the second (for John), then somehow the contents of said books are (1) true, and (2) magical (i.e., "inspired").

By trying to minimize the problem of variants (that is, variant readings) of the texts which we have in possession around the world, and indeed showing that those variants reduce down to copy errors of originals, the idea is to draw the fallacy:

A: There were actually written originals of Mark, Luke, Matthew, and John.
B: We have enough data to give us a really good idea of what were in the originals.
Therefore: the stories in them are true.

This fallacy is being resold over and over to the faithful, to reinforce the fundamentalists in their beliefs in a totally inerrant magical set of books.

I don't have an iPad, but the New Comments button does work on my iPhone 4. If it's jumping out to the front page for you, that means the Javascript is not working for some reason.

Does this also happen in threads with only a few comments? Maybe it's related to the size of the comment page. That's what slows down mobile devices.

One quick tip for iPhone/iPad use: use the pinch-zoom technique to zoom way in buttons before clicking them.

For keeping up on comments, use the Spy button at the bottom right of a post -- that's the Spy for that thread only, and includes a commenting form.

One thing that will definitely change when I get to that redesign - the buttons will be much larger.

This is bizarre!

10 injured in attack at Tinley Park restaurant

Ten people were injured this afternoon when a large group of people wielding bats and hammers burst into a south suburban restaurant and attacked a group of diners, according to officials and witnesses.
---
A long-time waitress, who declined to give her name, said of the melee: “It was the scariest frickin’ day of my life.”

The woman later said outside the restaurant that she first noticed the group of victims in the parking lot around 12:30 p.m., milling around some cars with out-of-state plates.

The woman said they came to the restaurant as part of a reservation for 20 people, but none of them seemed to know each other.

There was talk of explosions too.

If Syria implodes without someone else there, not only will the Entire Levant be dragged into chaos, but much of the progress with Iraq might be lost.

At this point, I think we need to pull King Abdullah of Jordan aside, and talk about possibly fusing Jordan and Syria together. That was the plan plan the Arabs had (at least to a point) before the French and British went behind their backs during the end of the Ottoman Empire.

She also said that she was a little wary of the diners because they told her they were part of an Irish heritage group, though none spoke in an Irish dialect or with an accent.

Well, an Irish heritage group in the US could very well not have accents or use dialects. The Kennedys certainly had no Irish accent. The none of them seemed to know each other part is weird.

Of course, the "random attack with baseball bats" part makes everything else look totally normal.

Yeah, in that area of Chicago there area lot of Irish from Ireland, so that is probably why the waitress was saying that. She is probably used to a lot of "Irish from Ireland" getting together.

He won't go along with that idea. It would be too likely to see him removed from power and likely killed. Some people in Syria have been radicalized by the fighting there or and a much greater number now likely suffer from PTSD as a result of the conflict. They'd be highly unlikely to integrate smoothly, and too many of them would be receptive to someone seeking to use them in a power-play.

Nor would the people Damascus nor Amman easily accept losing their city losing its status as a national capital.

Police: Mob Attacked Specific Group of People Inside Tinley Park Restaurant

Updated at 8:52 p.m.

A group of ‘anti-facists’ are being credited with Saturday’s mob-style attack inside a Tinley Park restaurant.

An anti-racist website posted a response to the Patch story "Police: Mob Attacked Specific Group of People Inside Tinley Park Restaurant." The post states that “a group of 30 anti-fascists descended” on the restaurant “where the 5th annual White Nationalist Economic Summit and Illinois White Nationalist Meet-and-Greet" was reportedly taking place.

“These anti-fascists are committed to shutting down and attacking any racist, nationalist or fascist organizers or individuals that they encounter,” the post states.

Tinley Park police have not confirmed the claims.

Growth he says? Interesting. I do believe that Mitt Romney should use his time out of the spotlight this weekend to have some conference call time with the GOP's leaders in the house. It would be best to have a pro-business, pro-growth proposal waiting for Obama after the end of the NATO Summit. A way to say: "Mr. President, you spoke of the need for economic growth. We agree it is essential, and thus we have prepared the outline of legislation that we believe will set the best climate for growth. We thus propose.." and then add a number of pro-business, anti-red-tape (not necessarily anti-regulation, but against those regulations that are overly time-consuming or that serve little effective purpose) proposals. The object here is not to start a fight (though it may have that effect in the end), but to "get there early" and ensure Republican ideas are on table right at the start.

Bluntly, who is bitching about NATO right now.

Then don't propose something linked to 'austerity'. Make the pitch "pro-freedom, pro-growth'. Better tax credits to businesses instead of outright tax cuts, at least right now. Obama will talk of tax credits, but he can be upstaged if the GOP moves quickly.

You live in a fantasy world. The GOP has tied itself to austerity so thoroughly that there's no room left to maneuver. The solution isn't about how to market tax cuts in some clever unthought of new way, that's the standard tired GOP strategy. You guys need a new playbook. The solution has to be about uncorking spending on something other than the military, and the inertia of GOP politics simply won't allow for that.

Well you know that's true with many on the right. There is no universal left or right WRT this topic. As a democracy we must consider all voices however. So really, even those voices of decent on both sides with regards to this should be heard. We should not accept a dogmatic view of "Western military power" in any event. If you took public sector job losses out of the picture, we'd already be below 7.5% unemployment and well on our way past 7%. Public sector job losses in the wake of "belt-tightening" and "shared sacrifice" have been dragging down job gains for months now. Mexico's has been beefed up majorly in recent years to battle the cartels, and has suffered notable losses in doing so. One thing we could do to earn some good will in Mexico would be to permanently divert much of the foreign aid earmarked for Pakistan that has been impounded, and divert 55% of it to Mexico to help set up medical programs to treat the veterans of Mexico's fight against the cartels. The remaining 45% would be redirected to our own Department of Veteran's Affairs for the same purposes.

Jesse Helms was all confrontation, without understanding how to end the confrontation favorably. Ronald Reagan was willing to end confrontation wit the USSR, if that could be done on terms favorable to America. And in signing the ABM Treaty, Reagan got exactly that. He got more when he negotiated the Convention force in Europe agreement under which the Soviet Union withdrew the forces that had threaten West Germany for so long.

Any lessons to the current Republican leadership is obviously being lost.

Then Bush went and unilaterally scrapped the ABM treaty so he could build a missile shield that doesn't work in order to defeat a non-existent threat from Iran. In doing so he not only angered Russia but gave them the freedom and inspiration to build inbound phase maneuverable warheads and lay claim to the most advanced nuclear missiles on the planet.

Further demonstrating that the GOP hasn't been the party of Reagan for quite a while, and that their allergy to rational strategic forethought should be a caution to everyone.

This post was in error. It should have listed the "IRBM Treaty" instead of the "ABM Treaty". The ABM treaty was signed by Richard Nixon, not Ronald Reagan.

Breitbart.com folks seem like they're bored. Why else publish such drivel? Too bad that Obama isn't as juicy as Clinton with all his affairs and interns. lol!
