Arizona Republican Spokesman Calls Criticism From Women A ‘Bitch Session’
As first reported by Phoenix television station KTVK, what set spokesman Shane Wikfors off was a piece by longtime Arizona Republic columnist Laurie Roberts.
The column was based on an interview she did with local GOP donor Kathy Petsas, whose uncle used to be the director of the state party. It was titled “To dekook Arizona, start with the state Republican Party.”
In it, the two women lambasted the state GOP’s bent toward conspiracy theories and social ideologues rather than the calmer, pragmatic ways of the past. Petsas was quoted as saying the state party had been “hijacked” at the highest levels.
This did not sit well with Wikfors, who was hired as the chief spokesman for the party in August.
“Ms. Petsas ran off to Laurie Roberts and engaged her in a ‘bitch session,’” Wikfors wrote on his blog, Sonoran Alliance. “Frankly, I’m getting a little tired of people like Kathy Petsas and even some of the political consultants who don’t do a damn thing for their Republican Party.”

Apparently, Criticizing David Barton is now Proof that he Speaks the Truth
Green: We’re worried about cratering because someone might say, ‘that’s mean-spirited’!
French: Exactly, or, ‘you’re a bigot,’ and then all of a sudden you are immediately backpedalling. It shows the power that we have allowed peer and cultural regard to have over our lives and heart. One of the best things that any Christian can do is to begin to just break away from that, to become indifferent to that.
You guys, you and David, get such hate all the time from folks who are just appalled that you are bringing truth about America’s heritage into the public square, a truth they have been spending generations trying to squelch. I’m sure it hurts on some occasion when you see it but it’s also a sign that you guys are making incredible progress and incredible headway and you’ve gotten a message out that I can just tell in the Christian community in the past five to ten years, there’s a difference in knowledge about America because of the work that you guys have done.
Green: Hey man, if you’re not taking flak you’re not over the target right?
French: Exactly.
Green: It could be a good thing. I think you’re dead-on, if you are speaking truth, if you are doing something that’s going to make a difference, you’re going to take some criticism. We need to challenge this generation to actually be excited about the opportunity to stand for truth.

re: #33 Kragar
Apparently, Criticizing David Barton is now Proof that he Speaks the Truth
It all ties back in to the Christian persecution complex. You see the Bible (in fact Jesus himself) specifically tells Christians to expect to be persecuted for their beliefs:
“If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you…. If they persecuted Me they will persecute you… for they do not know the One who sent Me.”
John 15:19-21
The problem is the meaning of "persecution" has become so distorted and misused. In the Biblical context, Persecution generally referred to something like "being imprisoned and brutally tortured unless you renounce your faith in Christ." That kind of thing still happens in certain countries around the globe.
Most of the stuff that mainstream American Christians cry "Persecution" about is pedantic at best.
I mean, look at Fisher's response to the recent article on him:
Fischer variably called the profile “shoddy,” “laughably bad,” “juvenile,” “poorly written,” “unprofessional,” “distorted, misleading, false, and deceptive,” “offensively bad,” and “an embarrassingly bad piece of journalism” that is “like something you would get in a middle school journalism class.” He said that Mayer “ought to be ashamed of herself” and is an “inexcusably bad journalist.”
It's the same thing. This will empower Bryan Fisher. He more than likely believes this "attack" on him is a form of "persecution" and that's a very GOOD thing.
I wonder if I should write a page on this stuff, I could go on a lot longer.

Right now, soldiers can keep their gear powered for three days at the most, and after that, you are back to WW II technology levels in many respects. It is imperative to devise ways to keep wireless communications and other networking technologies at the squad and invidual soldier level powered for extended combat ops.

Louisiana's bold bid to privatize schools
(Reuters) - Louisiana is embarking on the nation's boldest experiment in privatizing public education, with the state preparing to shift tens of millions in tax dollars out of the public schools to pay private industry, businesses owners and church pastors to educate children.
Starting this fall, thousands of poor and middle-class kids will get vouchers covering the full cost of tuition at more than 120 private schools across Louisiana, including small, Bible-based church schools.
The following year, students of any income will be eligible for mini-vouchers that they can use to pay a range of private-sector vendors for classes and apprenticeships not offered in traditional public schools. The money can go to industry trade groups, businesses, online schools and tutors, among others.
Every time a student receives a voucher of either type, his local public school will lose a chunk of state funding.
"We are changing the way we deliver education," said Governor Bobby Jindal, a Republican who muscled the plan through the legislature this spring over fierce objections from Democrats and teachers unions. "We are letting parents decide what's best for their children, not government."

Sure, portable power is a problem. My issues are with the proposed solutions, and the apparent ignorance of both physics and math that some of them illustrate. For example, (from my link):
The greater the distance you want to send power, the bigger the coils have to be. But if the coils are too big, then they’re not practical enough for a soldier to carry around. The solution, said Schatz, are resonate “repeaters” that allow energy to “hop” from repeater to repeater.
“We’ve demonstrated room-scale energy transfer, hopping over a series of repeaters that are in turn, that are not wired together,” Schatz says. “The energy is able to hop to one to the next to the next and end up getting to the end source quite an efficient way.”
A series of repeaters? Must consider how many, and each one how efficient? Imagine ten, at 10% efficiency per repeater. (And I think that's optimistic.) Can you do the math? And how much wire would that imply, altogether, along a path from A to B, compared to a simple extension cord from A to B?

Romney Campaign Bus Circling, Honking At Obama Supporters
Romney’s campaign bus — adorned with the words “Conservative. Businessman. Leader” today repeatedly honked at and took several laps around a group of Obama supporters before a campaign speech to be given by President Obama in Cleveland today, according to a tweet by CBS White House correspondent Mark Knoller.
Romney even moved his speech up to precede Obama’s speech. Obama is set to address the event at 1:45 p.m. ET, while Romney moved his planned 1:50 p.m. speech up to 1:30 p.m., getting a head start on the president.

I don't understand vouchers, honestly. People want to take their kids out of those horrible, terrible secular demon-schools, I get that. But if they want to do that, they can do it on their own dime.
I certainly hope their argument isn't "well I pay taxes to support schools so I should get the voucher to spend it on a different school", because if that's the case then the government owes a whole lot of childless people checks, because they pay the same damn taxes (more, actually, go go gadget child credits) and don't have kids to get the benefit.

I think we've had two or three Pages on this story. "Bible-based math textbooks."
I have explained to fellow Homeschoolers why I won't touch any science text book that is faith-based. They don't get it.
I'm going abandon that line of thought and going to start going with "Look, there's no pictures.* Pictures are very, very helpful. Observation is a major part of science, and it's easier to understand what a Portuguese Man'o'war is if you see a picture rather than a description.
*There weren't in the textbook that I saw. I don't know if all of them are this way.

What the fuck? Is this a middle-school election?
If it was, Mitt would gather up Boehner and the rest of the House GOP, tackle Obama and give him a haircut.

A male Republican House leader in Michigan silenced two female Democratic state legislators on Thursday after the pair tried to advance a measure that would have reduced access to vasectomies.
While discussing a bill that would erode the availability of abortion, Reps. Barb Byrum and Lisa Brown introduced an amendment to apply the same regulations to vasectomies that GOP lawmakers wanted to add to abortion services. The debate grew heated, as Republicans sought to gravel down the women. Byrum was not permitted to speak in favor of the measure and Brown was repeatedly interrupted. “I’m flattered that you want to get in my vagina, but no means no,” she said. The next day both were silenced.

It's not just free speech, it's free range speech!
A day later, I'm still laughing.

Once again, we see Republicans supporting and celebrating free speech.

I've experienced their strong commitment to free speech personally.
