Have You All Lost Your Goddamn Minds?

What happened to chess? Yeah, fuck chess, we had a few bad poll days, time to go beat our own brains in with an ice pick. You know what? Fuck the President’s heart. I know his heart’s in it because while you and I have been fucking around amongst ourselves, bullshitting into the ether as to what it would mean for the campaign if Obama came off like an angry black man for a second, he’s been there bleeding for us and our progressive policies every goddamn day. You know whose heart isn’t in it? You know who needs to take the blame right now? You know who is letting everybody down? We are. We’re the ones we’ve been waiting for, and we surely are a huge pile of superstitious assholes. For four years, this President has made good on his promises even with the shit-storm that has become the political process in America. And he deserves, if not our support, then our resolve. So stop fucking panicking because you had a bad poll day. You know how many bad poll days the President has had? You might know better than he does, because he’s been too busy trying to keep Iran and Israel from becoming the dust and ash filled lands formerly known as Iran and Israel. So, for fuck’s sake, get your shit together. This is our President. He needs us. He needs our support. He needs our resolve. He needs us to beat Mitt Romney, because that asshole, despite what he said in the debate, would do exactly the damage that George Bush did, and we literally can’t afford that.

I take this as a good sign that he's planning to hit Romney on women's issues:

Tommy Thompson now resorting to just blatantly lying about his son's "joke": Tommy Thompson Says His Son Was Prompted To Make "Kenya" Remark By Audience Member

The former Wisconsin Governor claimed speaking to reporters in Milwaukee Tuesday night, his son was prompted by an audience to make remarks about sending President Obama back to Kenya. “If you look at the movie someone in the audience said and he repeated it” Thompson said. But the video, posted online Sunday evening, shows Thompson's son making the remark before an audience member chimed in. A spokesman for the Thompson campaign did not immediately return a request for comment.

He's right, there is no need to panic. Even if Romney wins a bunch of states that are basically toss-ups right now, he would still have to come from behind to win either Ohio or Wisconsin or Nevada and Iowa. So I expect the President to stabilize the race in his favor with a good performance tonight.

Good news is the Supreme Court isn't going to block weekend voting in Ohio. This means african-american churches will be able to bus their congregants to the polls right after worship, and the urban polling stations won't be hopelessly clogged on Tuesday, discouraging urban voters as the Ohio GOP had hoped. This should help a lot.

Consider Tallgrass out of Kansas (regionally available, at least) or Surly in Minnesota (although I think those half-Canadian fuckers hoard it all in-state).

So a few notes before the debates..
I'm watching the shitty movie the social network. I've become bored with all the expert pundits. Of course afterwards I'll be checking every effen pundit on every network.. Wait.. They have me! Oh Gawd..They have me..
I went out to find the most expensive booze.. I had a 28 dollar Vodka martini with 4 olives. I guess this one distillery make vodka out of frozen grapes.. Shit was expensive so I had only 3 martinis and if you are counting at home. 12 olives.

One of those was $20 more than my whole bottle of wine. At least one of us knows how to be thrifty. ;)

This would be a perfect way to ask him about his views on abortion. "Governor Romney, you once told a woman that she 'got off easy' for having a medically required abortion. Would you care to explain what you meant by that?"

122 HappyWarrior  Tue, Oct 16, 2012 5:38:53pm

I can really understand being undecided in a local race but I can't in a presidential race. Maybe that sounds narrow minded but with these two guys, I truly cannot.

123 Monkeys of Will  Tue, Oct 16, 2012 5:40:21pm

We are hatched. Also hi. Also debate night eh? How about that thing? Also undecideds are a big myth. Like the Kraken or Dick Cheney. As the great contemporary philosopher Leonard Cohen pointed out, "Everybody knows".

And if they don't they should be forced to listen to Ke$ha until they give up and make their mind up.

I might not be serious about the Ke$ha part. Also Dick Cheney is real. Just like the Abominable Snowman and other old guys that shoot their friends in the face.

OK, I have to defend this. (Don't want to, just my little ethical tic in action.)

Body language matters. How you move, matters. If you're facing something unfamiliar you move differently, which gives a negative impression. Worse is the furniture that can leave you looking foolish, clumsy, and so incompetent.

And even if you're sorta used to them there are ways to get in and out which are natural but which still leave an impression of low competence. Think, for example, of people who just flop into overstuffed chairs vs those who sit. There are people who habitually kick to sit up, or who rock side to side a few times.

So yes. If he's never sat upon a bar stool he needed to practice, not merely to not look like an idiot but to sit in such fashion as to give the best impression - Cary Grant, not Jerry Lewis.

Among the many things I do not care about in a president, his ability to sit on a bar stool well is pretty high on the list.
