Glenn Beck’s Getting Crazier: The “System X” Conspiracy Theory

The latest dastardly progressive plot only Glenn knows about
Wingnuts • Views: 32,820

Raving freakazoid nut sandwich Glenn Beck has uncovered a brand new evil left wing conspiracy to destroy America, and this one is EVEN WORSE than the last two dozen evil conspiracies to destroy America he uncovered.

It’s amazing America continues to survive, with all these evil plots to destroy freedom. Just lucky, I guess.

Citing random passages out of a document entitled “Promoting Grit, Tenacity, and Perseverance—Critical Factors for Success in the 21st Century” [PDF] from the Department of Education’s Office of Educational Technology, Beck declared that these data systems will be collecting a cornucopia of sensitive personal information on children and their families while placing monitoring sensors in the chairs and on their skin and filming them with cameras that can detect emotions; they’d even be installing MRI systems in the classroom.

And this is all happening because the corporations have merged with the government in order to implement “System X: a government run by a single party in control of labor, media, education and banking; joined by big business to further their mutual collective goals.”

“This is a progressive bonanza,” Beck warned, “and if it’s allowed to be in our schools in any form and become the common core of America’s next generation, it will destroy America and the system of freedom as we know it … The corporations and the government are in bed together and this is evil stuff”

This System X is about the most exciting thing I’ve heard about in a long time. I never dreamed we’d get all the powerful U.S. multinational corporations in on the gig. But hot damn. And all the medias, including Faux, Drudge and Clear Channel.

A Michigan RNC Committeeman Wants You to Know the Truth About “Filthy” Homosexuality

Dave Agema is a Republican National Commiteeman from Michigan, one of the state’s three avatars in the organization. His successful campaign for the job told voters that there “simply weren’t enough conservatives” in the RNC to challenge “the big government Republicans.” He gets to vote on party bylaws, on the chairman—stuff like that. And he’s not really on board with this kinder, gentler Republican Party jive. A source points me to Agema’s Facebook page (viewable only to friends), where Agema has shared a semi-viral list by “Frank Joseph, M.D.,” all about the threats posed by homosexuals.

And these “facts” are the usual disgusting bile and lies.

So, how is that rebranding going for you?

Beck’s busy complaining about some thing like this while Facebook and other online entities and smartphone makers and app developers are already busy using their tech to figure out anything and everything about your habits, likes, interests, and whereabouts.

Private entities are already busy tracking your every move with smartphone apps that have nothing to do with actual GPS locations (take a look at the permissions you sign away on at the Google Store or iPhone app marketplace).

Here’s the source material he claims to have cribbed passages from. The bit about sensors comes from page 44 - and it actually addresses how best to provide information and feedback to students:

Examples of affective computing methods are growing. Mcquiggan, Lee, and Lester (2007) have used data mining techniques as well as physiological response data from a biofeedback apparatus that measures blood volume, pulse, and galvanic skin response to examine student frustration in an online learning environment, Crystal Island. Woolf, Burleson, Arroyo, Dragon, Cooper and Picard (2009) have been detecting affective indicators within an online tutoring system Wayang Outpost using four sensor systems, as illustrated in Exhibit 11. Sensors provide constant, parallel streams of data and are used with data mining techniques and self-report measures to examine frustration, motivation/flow, confidence, boredom, and fatigue. The MIT Media Lab Mood Meter (Hernandez, Hoque, & Picard, n.d.)is a device that can be used to detect emotion (smiles) among groups. The Mood Meter includes a camera and a laptop. The camera captures facial expressions, and software on the laptop extracts geometric properties on faces (like distance between corner lips and eyes) to provide a smile intensity score. While this type of tool may not be necessary in a small class of students, it could be useful for examining emotional responses in informal learning environments for large groups, like museums.

Then it addresses how fMRI can help maximize learning techniques since a functional MRI shows where brain functioning is highest while the subject in the test is engaging in activities.

His successful campaign for the job told voters that there “simply weren’t enough conservatives” in the RNC to challenge “the big government Republicans.

This is the battle that is shaping up for the soul of the GOP, and we know which side Sarah Palin is positioning herself for.

They will be able to motivate the base like Mitt Romney never could, but will so alienate any moderate voters that it will more than cancel out their gains.

But expect them to maintain a blocking minority in congress and a majority in a number of state legislatures.

Michigan Republican Faces Calls For Resignation After Anti-Gay Post

A statement from the group of Republicans, according to the Free Press, said, “This isn’t about what we believe either politically or as women and men of faith. This is about common decency and realizing that you cannot win an election by insulting a wide swath of the electorate, whose votes our Republican Party needs to once again form a national majority.

Agema told the Free Press that “some publications and even a few liberal Republicans have chosen to take the words of someone else and cast them as my own.” He added that the article was worth sharing, given the landmark gay rights cases before the Supreme Court this week.

Michigan Republican Party Chairman Bobby Schostak said in a statement that the GOP supports traditional marriage, but does not endorse discrimination against anyone.

“Any statement or message in contrast undermines our party’s platform and our common sense conservative message,” he said, according to The Grand Rapids Press.

So, they don’t have a problem with his opinions so much as they have a problem with him costing the GOP votes because he actually said them out loud.

Sketchy Sacramento Sellers use faux Yard Sales to bypass retail laws

Want to start a retail business but don’t want to be bogged down with having to sign a lease or paying all the taxes associated with running a store? Just pretend you’re having a yard sale each weekend… at a different house every time.

At least that seems to be thinking of some rogue, sketchy entrepreneurs in Sacramento, who have been popping up on different front yards around town each weekend under the guise of having a “yard sale,” when it looks like they’re just running a moveable retail outlet.

Robert at Cockeyed.com wrote about the bandit yard-sellers earlier this month when he noticed them setting up shop on his street.
He says that his neighbor had been approached by a pregnant woman offering $25 a day to use a portion of the front yard for a yard sale. But when the day came, the neighbor’s entire lawn was quickly covered with an array of shoes and boxes — and shoppers.
“They put up two signs, erected the row of mannequins and started waiving down customers with a sign-spinner,” wrote Robert about the scene on his street. “I couldn’t have written a better scene for a prank show.”

Now CBS Sacramento says that the city is looking into complaints about these sellers, who appear to be twisting the rules regarding yard sales so they can have a retail business without some of the requisite headaches.
“Absolutely it’s breaking the law,” the city’s chief code enforcement officer tells CBS. “They don’t reside at the property where they are selling the items. The items are retail sales.”

“It’s not like a yard sale; it’s like a moving store,” says a woman who was paid $40 to let her yard out for a weekend.

She should have asked for more, as the city could fine her, and other homeowners who agree to these sales, $100 for a first offense, while the people running the pop-up sales could face misdemeanor charges.

Hi,

I’m an english teacher in a California public high school. As part of our efforts to reform our approach, we’re adopting the new Common Core standards and going to start implementing them next school year.

I was a little bit shocked today to find that Glenn found a way to roll the nationwide adoption of Common Core standards into his giant ball of conspiracies.

I’ve read all the standards (I’m the English dept chair so I have to) and it would take a real loose grip on reality to construe them as left-wing.

Thankfully for the conspiracy industry, Glenn’s grip on reality is about as loose as they come.

If the Dept of Ed started pushing McGuffey readers on elementary schools, the RW would still go nuts. Even International Baccalaureate programs are suspect, because the UN.
