Rand Paul’s Neo-Confederate Aide Resigns, Denies Racism

The man who wrote “Abraham Hitler”
Wingnuts • Views: 27,600

Jack Hunter, Sen. Rand Paul’s blatantly racist neo-Confederate staffer (who used the name “Southern Avenger”) has resigned, complaining of being unfairly labeled a racist. (Of course.)

Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-KY) controversial senior aide, who has come under fire recently for his reported past as a pro-secessionist activist and radio shock jock, has resigned from his post and will return to punditry, The Daily Caller reported Sunday evening.

In an email to the Daily Caller, Jack Hunter wrote that he did not want to be a distraction for the senator and hopes to clear his name, which he says has become unfairly associated with racism.

“I’ve long been a conservative, and years ago, a much more politically incorrect (and campy) one,” Hunter said in the email. “But there’s a significant difference between being politically incorrect and racist. I’ve also become far more libertarian over the years, a philosophy that encourages a more tolerant worldview, through the lens of which I now look back on some of my older comments with embarrassment.”

This is such a typical right wing excuse it’s become boring. Jack Hunter was not just “politically incorrect,” and there’s nothing “unfair” about identifying his caveman views as racist in the extreme. For example, here are some excerpts from a column he wrote in 2009, comparing President Abraham Lincoln to Adolf Hitler.

“Hitler was an admirer of the 16th president [Lincoln] for all the obvious reasons.”

“Hitler’s language and actions were similar to Lincoln’s, who believed that state sovereignty was foolish compared to “saving the union.”“

“The 16th president had far more in common with the Nazi dictator than the Southern soldiers who died fighting for their country’s independence.”

“Conducting the first “total war” of the modern era — in which Lincoln’s armies intentionally targeted innocent women, children, and old men in the South — was nothing less than an act of “genocide” against Southerners.”

There’s much more where that came from. And Jack Hunter is no outlier; these pro-Confederacy views are nauseatingly common in today’s Republican Party. Every CPAC in recent years has hosted panel discussions with neo-Confederates.

Oh the old I’m not politically incorrect. I swear if I had a dime for every time a conservative like “Avenger” here used that to excuse their racism, I’d be wealthier than Bill Gates and Warren Buffett combined. Dude, you’re not politically incorrect. You’re a dude who compared Abraham Lincoln to Adolf Hitler. A dude who compared America’s most beloved and iconic president to one of the worst monsters in history. But you were good enough for Luap Dnar I guess.

How To Have An Entertaining Afternoon With a Republican:

Say something scathingly derogatory about the christian religion. Perhaps even throw in a bit about the Catholic church being an institution of kid-touchers. When the Republican starts losing their shit, put on your best trollgrin and ask them why they have such a big problem; you’re just being un-PC.

WND, now an outlet for VDARE racism, is also pushing CNS articles that simply exist to feed the hate. WND is headlining the story:

Which is a link to a CNS story which already has over 1800 comments, where one can read Stormfront like comments.

//

I am so very, very tired of neoconfederates denying they’re racists while pining for the Old South, whose most defining characteristic was the belief that it was perfectly fine to buy and sell human beings on the basis of their skin color.

I understand that we needed to bring the South back into the fold after the Civil War, but honestly, the Old South was America at it’s absolute worst. It’s like Germans pining for the Third Reich. They LOST, and they DESERVED TO LOSE because their society was so vile and corrupt, and the Confederate flag should be viewed with the same disgust with which we view the Nazi flag.

We are a country whose best defining characteristic is that we want to become better than we are. Glossing over slavery and genocide in some quest to return us to the past, when we were LESS just, is not just UN-American, it’s ANTI-American.

Apparently it really was a family of four, but GZ wasn’t the only one helping and to say they were trapped is likely an exaggeration. Stopping to assist is kindhearted, to be sure. Nobody was injured and he didn’t “save” or “rescue” anyone. He, and/or the other guy assisted them out of the vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Conducting the first “total war” of the modern era — in which Lincoln’s armies intentionally targeted innocent women, children, and old men in the South — was nothing less than an act of “genocide” against Southerners.

Hadn’t heard this one before, though I imagine it’s a common trope on the Lost Cause right. Reputable historians note that Sherman’s actions destroyed a ton of physical property, but were very light in the civilian casualties.

In fact, given the rhetoric of some Radical Republicans at the time, this clown should probably be thankful that a sober moderate like Lincoln was in charge. Had Thaddeus Stevens been president, we might have actually seen prison camps for southern civilians, and the starvation and disease that would have inevitably followed.

Because in the diseased minds of the anti-choice crowd, wanting the option to terminate unwanted or problematic pregnancies for women that need that is the moral equivalent of demanding the murder of all babies everywhere.

Remember, there is no real rational basis to be against all abortion period, as so many of them are. Their worldview on the subject requires that pro-choice people be cartoonish supervillains that wake up in the morning and plot how to kill the maximum number of babies for the day.

Right, like when Sarah Palin said she was proud of Bristol for her choice not to terminate her pregnancy.

And honestly I commend Bristol for making that choice but many other teen motehrs don’t have the resources that the Palins did. If the right was for making birth control more easily accessible, not in the business of “slut shaming”, and helping poor and unwed mothers out, they’d look a lot more reasonable and humane on this issue but no they have to engage in the BABY KILLER and IF YOU’RE PRO CHOICE, YOU’RE LIKE HITLER. Yep, someone here on LGF posted a story on how in Ireland an Irish Traveller young woman was apparently forced to abort a fetus against her will and the right was pushing it as how awful the “pro abortion” movement is but they again ignore what you, I, and the other folks here already know, that it’s about choice. Three of my four grandparents were the youngest children in big families and the one that wasn’t was a product of her father’s second marriage. I’m pro-choice simply because I don’t feel it’s a man’s place to tell a woman she must give birth. We as men have no idea whatsoever about what women go through during pregnancy and better yet, we have no right whatsoever to tell a rape victim that she has to carry her rapist’s child.

Oh that’s right, they were denying that crimes based on sexuality actually happen. But anyhow, didn’t he call him a crazy cracker. Doesn’t really matter. Because Martin calling Zimmerman “a gay boy cracker” doesn’t mean he deserved to be killed. The right seems to want to go to any length to justify and rationalize this kid’s death and it’s fucking tiring. If they sincerely believe that Z was in his grounds defending himself, fine, but please for the love of God stop acting like Treyvon Martin deserved to die that night.

The phrase used was “creepy ass cracka”. Which was pretty apropos, as an adult with a gun stalking an unarmed teenager through the night is most certainly “creepy ass”. May or may not be a “cracka” though.

I don’t either. I like the Brits but if there’s one thing I much prefer about our society over theirs is that family name doesn’t have the pull it does there.

A lot of our ancestors came here because of the lack of an aristocracy, and now a lot of folks on the Right want to reestablish it, by abolishing the estate tax.

This is propaganda started by Rush Limbaugh, that Martin was a “gay basher” because Rachel Jaentel suggested that the person following him might be a rapist.

Thing is, even if he had said it — nobody on the left was ever trying to hold up Trayvon as a hero and all around perfect person. People just wanted to make the apparently radical assertion that he didn’t deserve to be stalked and killed for walking through a neighborhood while black.

This photo must have been taken with magnification because the Earth is a noticeable disk rather than a point of light. If one looks at Saturn which is much larger, from the Earth, it is just a faint point of light.

Apparently something went wrong with the Earth shattering Kaboom that it was supposed to be photographing. The Earth obstructs the view of Venus you know.

Oh come on. Zimmerman simply helped out and clearly left the scene not wanting an acclaim from helping anyone in the accident. And as far as having committed a crime….a jury disagrees with you.

Having served on a jury that returned a “not guilty” verdict, I can tell you that the only thing you can take away from such a verdict is that the jury didn’t feel that the prosecution had proved its case.

I still have no idea whether they guy we acquitted actually did what they accused him of.

Interesting that he was out on a public highway, in light of this statement:

“We have had an enormous amount of death threats. George’s legal counsel has had death threats, the police chief of Sanford, many people have had death threats,” Zimmerman’s father, Robert Zimmerman said.“‘Everyone with Georgie’s DNA should be killed’ — just every kind of horrible thing you can imagine.”

Which we all know is hyperbole.
