Birther and Rush Limbaugh Fan Threatens the President, Gets Arrested

Crime • Views: 30,979

An 81-year-old “birther” was arrested today and charged with threatening President Barack Obama’s life, according to federal court records.

Prosecutors allege that Elwyn Nels Fossedal was in a post office near his Wisconsin home last month when he announced, “If President Obama was here I would shoot him right there and kill him right now.”

When Secret Service agents confronted Fossedal about the threat—which was relayed to law enforcement by witnesses—he would not recant the statement and “repeated the threat using different words. He also made a number of additional threats towards the President,” according to a felony complaint.

[…]

Fossedal, a retired Pfizer employee, appears to be a “birther” based on comments he has posted online. A Rush Limbaugh fan, Fossedal has also called for Obama’s impeachment over the Affordable Care Act and declared that, “We need to throw the Muslim in the White House, OUT.”

In a funeral home obituary for his wife, Fossedal is reported as having resigned from the Lions Club International because the community service organization purportedly “would not allow the worship of Jesus Christ” so that it could “be accepted by Islamic Nations.”

I thought for a moment he might have bought that shirt from Limbaugh’s webstore, but then I realized how stupid that idea that was because there’s no huge picture of Limbaugh dressed up as George Washington on it.

My grandpa casually threw out the “Obama’s a Muslim” card one day, to everyone else’s instant “bwuh?”… he also once joked that he was moving to Arizona to join a border militia but everyone in the family believed him at that point. Fortunately he’s all talk. The irony is that his entire career (as far as I know) was in a Navy shipyard.

Scott Walker is the first Wisconsin governor who has stated that he will not pardon a single person during his governorship. He is not only alone in his position among former Wisconsin governors; he is alone nationally as well. Walker told WKOW-TV, “The only people seeking pardons are people who are guilty and I don’t have any reason to undermine the criminal justice system.” Since taking office in 2011, he has not pardoned a single person nor has he appointed any members to the Pardon Advisory Board.

My favorite pair of sneakers right now are a Converse knock off that are olive green with Chinese dragons embroidered all over them. I think I have a pair in almost every color except yellow, red and pink. I think if you wear what makes you feel comfy and good is what counts, fashion aside.

I feel kind of bad for this guy, but damn it, this is almost an advertisement for what Hate Radio and TV does to people’s heads after awhile. It’s sad, and sadder to know that he’s got lots of company. My parents aren’t quite this bad, but my Mom used to watch Glenn Beck every day when he was on TV and it took it’s toll. She’s not a stupid person, but she has always suffered from anxiety, this crap has only made it worse as she’s got older(she’s in her early 70s). I think she’s slowly figuring out that a lot of this stuff is bullshit, but she can’t let go of her racism, which I think has been fueling a lot of the current stuff she’s latching onto.

My Mother’s Mom was a lot like these ladies. She made most of her own clothing. She worked most of her adult life in a shoe factory, sewing leather and suede into work and casual footwear. She loved sewing and used lots of colors. I don’t ever remember seeing her in dull colors unless they were highlighted and accessorized with lots of bright colors. Much to her chagrin, her oldest granddaughter (me) loved to sew, but not wear makeup or tailored clothes and expensive footwear. Fashion was her art, she also had really stunning silver hair, she refused to color it. She would even put little bits of colored ribbon into her “do” sometimes, just for fun. She also had a full length mink coat with a little matching hat, I have no idea what happened to it after she passed.

Maybe now that he’s got himself into some serious trouble it will lead to him getting some help. One can hope at least. It’s still not cool what he did, but if he’s not really of “sound mind” I’m sure Hate Radio and Fox News did him no good at all.

What stood out for me is the lack of any hard info; names, locations, links to another article about the “story”.

My SIL sent around some argle barge about a young woman who was 5 months pregnant with supposedly healthy twins, and had an abortion just because she could.

From what I have found this happened in England in July 2012.

Two prisoners who disembowelled an inmate so they could eat his liver were told by a judge today that they are likely to spend the rest of their lives in jail.

Michael Parr, 33, and Nathan Mann, 24, shared fantasies of killing while serving life sentences in neighbouring cells at Frankland Prison, County Durham.

They lured child rapist Mitchell Harrison, 23, into Mann’s cell where he was pinned down by Parr, Newcastle Crown Court heard.

Mann, described by a psychiatrist as “a remorseless, callous psychopath” who “harbours cannibalistic urges” and is “one of the most dangerous men in the criminal justice system” cut his neck with a scalpel made from plastic cutlery and a razor blade.

He also stabbed him in the eye with a pen and, after he was dead, cut his stomach open.

He and Parr had planned to cut Harrison’s liver in half and share it, but could not bring themselves to do it, the court heard.

So it’s a real story, but it happened in England. And it didn’t happen for revenge, but because two raving psychopaths had fantasies of eating someone. Their victim could’ve been anyone behind bars, but it happened to be a child rapist.

Seems like a great reason to celebrate someone’s death. That’s what patriots do, apparently.

LOL, I know, there’s probably 20 churches within 5 miles of my house. This is GA after all. There’s one of those little Pentecostal snake handling churches not too far from here. Some of the churches are old, those tend to be smaller more modest ones, some as old as the 1800’s. The new ones are all gigantic, and yet their parking lots are never full on Sundays and the buildings aren’t used at all for anything during the week. Which is kind of good, when my kid gets his learner’s permit he can practice up there when he comes home for breaks. But it does make me wonder what the point of all those big buildings are that are barely used….

Nothing says right-wing “Patriotism” like wanting to murder the leader of your country.

An American flag and the Declaration of Independence. It’s the latest in patriotic fashion.

In all seriousness, I agree with the folks that said that his wife’s death likely pushed him over the edge. He was probably already a wingnut, but the emotional upheaval of losing his wife made him snap. It’s sad.

The point is to show off God’s favor over the pastor of that church. You know, since God wanted them to be rich and have a huge, elaborate church. It’s Prosperity Gospel porn, basically.

The alternative is the status quo and adding more sanctions.
No matter what you think of the rulers of Iran, you just cant back any country into a corner where they have nothing to lose.
The people were ready for something more moderate…but push their economy further into chaos with no way out and they will turn to the hardliners.

This is our last best chance to avoid war.

I suspect they want WWII to happen again. So that the U.S. can once more be the saviour of the world. So that the U.S. can rebuild the defeated nations in its image.

Only the U.S. regards WWII as ‘The Good War.’

I have to agree with you… it’s not a perfect solution by any means at all, but by maybe opening up the inspection process, taking measures to get control of that 20% enriched Uranium, freeing up some of the held funds, and in 6 months hopefully there will be enough of an improvement in the general situation that the process can take another step forward.

As a side note, I’d be very interested in what the Saudi’s are doing on this. I almost have to think that they are being active behind the scenes in some way, they have absolutely no desire to see a nuclear Iran.

As a Sunni Arab nation they also have no interest in seeing Shi’ite Iran re-join the global community.

Out of curiosity, can they cite the chapter and verse that discusses “he who conceals the nation of his birth but wears the darkness of his sin on his countenance?” Because I’m pretty sure that’s not actually in the Bible.
