Breitbart “News:” Pat Dollard Should Not Call Himself a Contributor
So, after genocide-lovin’ wingnut Pat Dollard tweeted yesterday that it was “time for Americans to start slaughtering Muslims in the streets,” Mother Jones contacted Breitbart “News” for comment, since Dollard’s Twitter profile says he’s a contributor for them. The response:
We asked the editor of Breitbart, Alex Marlow, and the site’s publisher, Stephen Bannon, for a comment on Dollard’s slaughter-Muslims tweet. Within minutes, Kurt Bardella, a spokesman for Breitbart News, called and said, Dollard “was not a paid contributor and has not contributed for three years. He should not call himself a contributor.” Asked if Breitbart would consider publishing future articles submitted by Dollard, Bardella replied, “We have no plans to accept anything. We haven’t ruled anything out. But he is not a Breitbart contributor.”
OK, fair enough. If Dollard hasn’t written for them in years, he should probably be called a “former contributor.”
But then, why is he still listed at Breitbart.com as a columnist?
In the real world, when someone is listed as a columnist for a website, that usually tends to mean he’s a columnist for that website.
But in any case, if anyone actually is tempted to doubt that Breitbart “News” supports and encourages this kind of ugly anti-Muslim hate speech, please note: hate group leader Pamela Geller is currently one of their featured writers. Currently. As in, right now.
