Scott Walker in London: Q: Do You Believe in Evolution? A: I’m Going to Punt
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is making an ass of himself in London today, by answering the question, “Do you believe in evolution?” with “I’m going to punt on that one.”
Walker re: evolution: “I’m going to punt on that one as well. That’s a question a politician shouldn’t be involved in one way or another.”

Walker obviously knows that in Britain, acceptance of the fact of evolution is nearly universal — and Brits know that in the US, rejection of evolution among Republicans is nearly universal. That’s why the question was asked, and that’s why Walker dodged it, because he knew that answering truthfully would make him look like a fool.
As for his comment that “a politician shouldn’t be involved” in this issue, that’s also incredibly disingenuous. Walker is undoubtedly aware that Republican politicians have been heavily involved in trying to sneak creationism into US public schools for decades, and in Wisconsin many taxpayer-funded voucher schools (a very popular Republican idea) are currently teaching young Earth creationism to students.
What a disgrace.
