A New Chuck Johnson Story Surfaces: He Claimed He Saw Video of Obama Calling Deval Patrick the N-Word

“In a blaccent”
Weird • Views: 50,897

A reader emailed to let me know about the latest bizarre story to emerge about cyberstalker Chuck C. Johnson; New York Magazine editor Abraham Riesman brought this out on Twitter a few days ago.

In other news, it has now been 18 days since Johnson updated his blog — you remember, the amazing journalistic masterpiece that was going to utterly destroy the mainstream liberal media? Not much destroying going on there lately. (Unless you count Chuck’s career.)

And we should believe that Chuck saw this alleged video just like we should believe his “medical student friend” took him on an operating theater date to view an actual abortion.

I think Nikki Haley is suffering from a derp - er, dearth - of creativity.

If the laws bar her from simply issuing an executive order to take the damn flag down, they surely DON’T bar her from issuing an executive order to surround that fairly short flagpole with a circle of taller flagpoles - 13 of them, let’ s say - flying our nation’s flag. Put the palmetto flag beneath it, too. Make ‘em good and big.

The law might say the traitor flag has to fly. It doesn’t say it has to be clearly visible, does it?

There. Solved all the world’s problems. Can I haz some single malt now?

I’m feeling good. Good about the confederate flag going down for the hateful symbol it is. Glad to have taken a fair slap at Ben Shapiro today on twitter. Sure I’m a nobody but sometime the point made is bigger than the speaker of the point. Time for some thick crunchy guitar music. Not sure how many Slash fans we got here but i did find this… Something about how he punctuates the notes.

maybe out of this horror for those families, they can see that those deaths of their loved ones really did matter, which meant that their lives really did matter in that it has the capacity to produce this kind of change.

I wish it didn’t have to be so, I wish that they were still here to be with those that loved them and that they loved, but if we’re dealing with symbols and agree that symbols matter, then at least their passing will have the effect of bringing us all together and stop the perpetration of this hateful mythos.

I just never want to forget that nine people died needlessly in order to bring this about.

It doesn’t seem too mysterious to me. Unlike most mass shootings, this shooting was a clear-cut case of domestic terrorism rooted in white supremacist ideology. That has prompted a hard look at other visible symbols of this ideology (e.g., confederate flags on state government property). Even for Republicans, blatant white supremacism isn’t usually acceptable unless people aren’t paying attention.

However, this case is just like all the other mass shootings in that the effect on policies like universal registration will be zero.

Also, his suit against Gawker et al have nothing whatsoever to do with his Twitter ban. He’s just hoping that Gawker will pay him to go away. Which isn’t going to happen given that unlike every other defamation / libel suit Gawker has faced in the past, crushing Chuck would be fantastic PR for them. I expect them to either kill the suit in MO, or better yet file a motion demanding that it be moved to California where they then Anti-SLAPP him so hard he’ll wish he’d died as a child.

The neo-Confederate “Lost Cause” myth is collapsing before our eyes. It seems inadequate to call this a subculture or a worldview, it is in fact a world unto itself, one built on mountains of falsehood and delusion.
The ramifications are staggering, penetrating into every aspect of American culture and politics.

43 BeachDem  Jun 23, 2015 6:10:15pm

Just got back from a prayer vigil for the Charleston 9 at the local AME church. Observations:

1. Overall, very positive, very inspiring. Full house, very diverse group.

2. Tough room for a Jewish-raised atheist.

3. A bit too much praise for “brave” Nikki Haley.

4. Most of the points/issues raised could have been taken word for word from the Democratic platform. (so GOTV)

5. One of the speakers (in addition to the service and singing, there were 14 speakers) was a black minister who said he knew Roof, that Roof had been friends with his son in the 9th grade and had been to his house, and that he wasn’t like that then.

6. My state rep showed his ugly face (came in late, but was acknowledged—didn’t speak). He’s still a non-responder to the Post and Courier poll, and when one of my friends emailed him last night to ask how he was going to vote, he replied, “Thank you for writing.” (translation—fuck you very much.)

7. The most memorable line, from the main pastor, “We CHOOSE to live a life of forgiveness.” They called for prayers for Roof—saying he’s only 21 and has a chance at redemption. Kind people—much more forgiving/understanding than I.

(And as to upchuck’s tale—probably saw it when he was trick or treating at Duval Patrick’s house during an election year, when he gave out good candy. //

I think a lot of it had to do with timing and the #BlackLivesMatter activism keeping all those police shootings in the foreground. It not only kept it in people’s consciousness for months on end, but also made them seriously take a look and admit what was going on—what IS and HAS BEEN going on since the first African slave arrived on our shores.

Add to that having a black POTUS & First Family who’ve been targeted with a disgusting amount of racism, the recent 50th anniversary of the Selma Civil Rights March… Also, when shit’s blowing up on Twitter the MSM can’t just ignore it or they’ll get scooped by blogs. A perfect storm, so to speak.

Even at the symbolic level, the victory would not be complete until the relevant state flags are changed (GA and MS, IIRC).

The job is not done, and probably won’t be in my lifetime. Even so, this is a very significant victory and extends well beyond the removal of symbols from government sites. There are also the many retailers who have rejected the “heritage not hate” canard and who have done so quite suddenly. In many ways it is the first time this debate has made it into the mainstream at all, in the sense that it was “normal” until a few days ago for WalMart to have Confederate flags on sale. Respect for the “Confederate heritage” was the social norm in this country just days ago. I believe that this level of acceptability helped create a psychological bubble in which it was ok to be a racist. Now the whole idea has come up for debate and been ruled the loser in the blink of an eye. It is quite a remarkable spectacle.

To me M.I.B’s point seems dangerously close to Chuck’s argument about Twitter. That a corporation can be so big, have such an enormous footprint that what it chooses not to distribute or be associated with becomes conflated with a 1st Amendment violation, or just a generic anti-American assault on free speech. But nobody’s speech or freedom has been stifled, you can still buy Confederate flags and Nazi flags and truck nuts and all the tacky shit you want to online if you can’t find a local brick and mortar retailer.

All any retailer has to do is treat their customers equally, it doesn’t have to stock what they want it to, nor does it have to continually suffer their abuse and disregard for its neutral rules of conduct.

76 piratedan  Jun 23, 2015 6:47:41pm

re: #70 goddamnedfrank

well it’s an opinion all right…. I don’t believe that the flag is an idea, I can see it as a symbol of an ideal. That symbol stands for something that we decry as a people. I don’t have an issue with banning that. So we return that symbol to a dark cult status, so be it, much better than tacitly accepting it in plain sight for everyone to see.

Media slobbers over Nikki Haley because she … uh … said words about the Confederate flag

Nikki Haley finally got around to saying that perhaps flying the Confederate flag on the grounds of the state’s capitol wasn’t such a great idea. And praise from the media poured in. Haley was “bold,” “incisive,” and “showed leadership,” it was a “powerful call,” it was a “signature moment,” and on and on and on. One question: Did any of them actually listen to what Haley said?

Even when I was a little kid I thought there was something wrong about the persistent glorification of the rebel Confederacy. My dad was in the military, the self-same military that had fought and defeated the Confederacy in a bitter war for national survival. This was the same Confederacy whose economy had been based on the use of human beings as a form of livestock. When I was a kid, these events were still within living memory. Everywhere I went in the South, though, the Confederacy was praised and honored to the rafters. The history community and the media had a chance to set things straight during the Civil War Centenniel observance of 1961-65. Instead it was a whitewash, a final sappy validation of the Lost Cause just as the Civil Rights movement started the first serious pushback since Reconstruction. It has taken a very long time to bring this into the open, to shine the light of reason and history upon the myth, but it is happening. Perhaps the breathtaking pace of the collapse is just the release of tremendous pressure, a pressure that has been building for 150 years.

I think the chamber of commerce types have decided that at least the confederate flag is bad for business. If this extends to the rest of the lost cause garbage, so much the better.

The Citadel? Just a few years ago, I referred to that institution as the “current headquarters of the Confederate Army.” We know it is serious now, the Lost Cause is freefalling right into the dustbin of history.

Thank you, Barbara Morrill:

Media slobbers over Nikki Haley because she … uh … said words about the Confederate flag

Nikki Haley finally got around to saying that perhaps flying the Confederate flag on the grounds of the state’s capitol wasn’t such a great idea. And praise from the media poured in. Haley was “bold,” “incisive,” and “showed leadership,” it was a “powerful call,” it was a “signature moment,” and on and on and on. One question: Did any of them actually listen to what Haley said?

My sentiments exactly.

It was pretty odd to see her on CSPAN this morning, (talking over the callers that disagreed with her).

She realizes not one person with a brain and a little respect for what is right would ever buy and/or read her trash books. So, she plays to those that will. And she is perfectly fine with it all. It works for her. But damn I sure hope she is haunted by the soullessness of her existence.

Ok, this is just ri-donk-alous. I suspect even if not high profile, companies are just tire of the bullshit that flag brings their way..

re: #4 ipsos

That would be unwise. A removal done by act of the state legislature will be broadly seen as legitimate, but for Gov. Haley to enact that sort of fiat before the legislature has fairly had a chance to act would be taken badly by many people, including me. I’m all for taking that damned flag down, but the democratic process must be allowed to function. If the legislature fails to act then then an act of fiat might be in order, but certainly not before then.

I’m gonna call it a night, but for anyone coming in late & trying to catch up, here’s my list of people & organizations wanting the flag removed (I’m leaving out the Nikki Haley & others from SC):

• Walmart
• Amazon
• eBay
• Google
• Sears
• Kmart
• Target
• Valley Forge Flag Company (major flag manufaturer in PA)
• Warner Bros. (to be removed from Dukes of Hazzard car, Gen. Lee)
• KY State Fair Board to consider ban
• GA Gov. Nathan Deal seeks redesign of state-issued license plate
• VA Gov. McAuliffe orders Confederate flag be removed from license plates
• Mississippi House Speaker Philip Gunn: Confederate part of MS flag ‘needs to be removed’
• Ole Miss supports removing Confederate battle flag from state flag
• TN Gov. Bill Haslam supports discontinuing license plates that feature the Confederate battle flag and removing the bust of Nathan Bedford Forrest from the Tennessee statehouse
• The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, agreed to move its Confederate Naval Jack from its chapel to another site
• ABC News Rundown of Where the 2016 Candidates Stand on the Confederate Flag Issue

Pretty impressive list for one day, huh?

G’nite, lizards. ;-)

re: #85 Joe Bacon

I believe that Wall Street sat the GOP bigwigs down and showed them the Sword of Demographics hanging over their collective heads.

Wall Street is making it clear that the Racism BS has to go.

I’m starting to think this is the case. Walmart, eBay, Amazon, etc. are all refusing to sell and/or stock the Confederate flag now. IBM is standing up to Jindal in Louisiana. Walmart, Apple, Google, and others have led pushback on those stupid “religious freedom” laws. Tons of big corporations have all filed amicus briefs in favor of marriage equality at SCOTUS.

I guess the corporate overlords are tired of having to deal with the yokels and with cultural issues. They want the GOP’s focus where it belongs — helping them skirt taxes. Cletus T. Inbred babbling about teh ghey or about a fake “war on Christians” gets in the way of that.

Me too. But my own feeling about Ann Coulter’s stubbornness on this matter is rather like that of the men of the Union 1st and 2nd Corps facing Pickett’s Charge: “Come on Johnnie Annie, keep on comin’!”

(That was what some of the Union soldiers shouted as the Graybacks advanced. Other men in blue, knowing that this time it was they who had the high ground and a stone wall in front of them, shouted “Fredericksburg! Fredericksburg!”.)

112 allegro  Jun 23, 2015 7:24:51pm

I see the confederate flag as a timely lightening rod. It’s been one racist murder after another since Trayvon for which we’ve seen no justice. Our racist culture has been blown into the open of late for all to see with blatant double standards right in our faces that can’t be ignored anymore. I think we’re collectively sick of this shit so the symbol of racism and hatred is now falling as a symbol of a country saying Enough!

117 ObserverArt  Jun 23, 2015 7:39:12pm

I just read Haley’s speech from yesterday again. Here is the part that really bugged me when she said it:

The hate filled murderer who massacred our brothers and sisters in Charleston has a sick and twisted view of the flag. In no way does he reflect the people in our state who respect and, in many ways, revere it. Those South Carolinians view the flag as a symbol of respect, integrity, and duty. They also see it as a memorial, a way to honor ancestors who came to the service of their state during time of conflict. That is not hate, nor is it racism.

She is saying only one person has a sick and twisted view. She would have been better to say there are people in the state that have a sick and twisted view. Why? Because it needed to be said. Those that believe that need to know it is them that taking the flag down is aimed at. It is not just one killer. They have a state and a section of the country that think like that.

And why is she taking the flag down? Well in the next paragraph of her speech she said:

At the same time, for many others in South Carolina, the flag is a deeply offensive symbol of a brutally oppressive past. As a state we can survive, as we have done, while still being home to both of those viewpoints

So, at the same time it is offensive and needs to come down, but it is also a “symbol of respect, integrity, and duty.” Uh sorry. You can’t have it both ways. That is why you have had the damn problem and why you had a killer feeling it was his duty to protect that honor and integrity.

In my opinion it is two-faced bullshit.

I came across this at Mashable: Mixed reactions to South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley’s Confederate flag announcement

To me the money part of that piece at Mashable:

However, Haley’s announcement was hedged, including language that stopped short of condemning the flag, and in fact, defended its place in South Carolina’s heritage, even as she declared it too divisive to remain atop the capitol building:

Exactly.

So BeachDem if you are out there, and others that feel this way…we are not the only ones. Words mean something or they don’t.

re: #117 ObserverArt

I know we were both here watching it (and barfing) in real time. It’s just so typical of the media to elevate Nikki as some sort of superhero.

While I was at the prayer vigil tonight, every time somebody at the podium praised her, I muttered under my breath, “If we’d elected Vincent, the damn flag would have been gone already.”

The Guardian got it right:

The suit-fillers of Beltway media passed an energetic “She said yes!” through the Twitter-madding crowd with the enthusiasm of a lummox who proposes to his girlfriend on the ballgame Jumbotron and thumbs-up at 30,000 people after she bows to the peer pressure.
