Trump has made statements that he intends to go through with the financial disclosures. If he actually does this, I expect him to go the distance in the GOP primary, and go third party if his ego (or the brain-eating tribble) demands it.

Is Chuck C Johnson writing for the Enquirer now?
An exhaustive investigation by The National ENQUIRER obtained “touch DNA” samples from both Chelsea and Webb Hubbell, samples that were turned over to a nationally recognized laboratory that specializes in paternity testing.
In a bombshell revelation that threatens to turn Hillary’s 2016 presidential campaign into absolute chaos, The ENQUIRER has learned the lab result was inconclusive.
A lab official confirmed that finding “does not discount the possibility” that Webb could be Chelsea’s biological dad!
Translation: We bought some “DNA samples” off of this guy:
And he seemed totally legit so we sent them off to be tested by this guy:
And he didn’t have any idea was DNA was so he zapped them with lightening and the results were inconclusive because he’s batshit insane and that means we think Bill isn’t Chelsea’s Dad.

Joan Jett is a total piece of shit (Long article, highly recommend.)
At some point, Jackie says she had to lie down on a bed to rest. She was having trouble staying upright. When a roadie checked to see if she was OK, Fowley asked him if he was interested in having sex with her. “She doesn’t mind,” Fowley said. “Do you?”
Jackie tried to protest, but she was frozen. “You don’t know what terror is until you realize something bad is about to happen to you and you can’t move a muscle,” she says. “I can’t move. I can’t speak. All I can do is look him in the eye and do the best I can do to communicate: Please say no. … I don’t know what it looked like from the outside. But I know what was going on inside and it was horror.” The roadie declined Fowley’s offer, and soon after, Jackie says she started to slip in and out of consciousness.
…
Fowley invited other guys to have sex with Jackie before removing his own pants and climbing on top of her. “Kim’s fucking someone!” a voice shouted from the door of the motel room to the partygoers outside, calling them in to watch. Arguelles returned to the room to see if this was all a big joke.
On the bed, Fowley played to the crowd, gnashing his teeth and growling like a dog as he raped Jackie. He got up at one point to strut around the room before returning to Jackie’s body.
“I remember opening my eyes, Kim Fowley was raping me, and there were people watching me,” Jackie says. She looked out from the bed and noticed Currie and Jett staring at her. She says this was her last memory of the night. Jett, through a representative, denied witnessing the event as it has been described here. Her representative referred all further questions to Jackie “as it’s a matter involving her and she can speak for herself.”
…
Shortly after Jackie returned to Los Angeles and the stories of her quitting the band hit the news, Brent Williams, who witnessed what happened to her the previous New Year’s, says he received a call from Jett. She said that Jackie’s parents might file a lawsuit. If lawyers ever contacted him, he needed to deny being in the motel room that night. (Jett’s representative did not comment when asked about the phone call.)

One more bit from that article:
Victory Tischler-Blue was Jackie’s replacement on bass, and one of her main memories from her time as a Runaway was how some of the other members made fun of what happened to Jackie. “I heard about that nonstop,” she says now. “They would talk about Kim fucking Jackie like a dog. It was kind of a running joke.”
That’s another third party indication that not only did Jett witness the attack, but she and the rest of the band treated it as comedy afterwards. All of Jett’s pro feminist rhetoric rings hollow knowing that she not only condoned the vicious rape of one of her bandmates but became an accessory after the fact. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame should expel Jett and everyone should know exactly the kind of calculating monstrous hypocritical piece of trash she really is. Every bit of the public persona she tried to build after this even was constructed on a fundamental lie, because her entire resulting career was made possible by her cover up of a violent sexual assault.

His pontificating about South Africa and Rhodesia being so wonderful during white minority rule and horrible during majority rule really pisses me off, because it’s clear he knows very little about either country. Sure Mugabe is a total fuckup, but he’s a petty dictator who’s stifled any sort of democratic rule. South Africa, while its government has its own problems, is not the apocalyptic hellhole CCJ describes. White women are not being raped by the thousands by scary black men, and most whites don’t fear for their lives. Only a certain batshit crazy white supremacist contingent believes they are under constant threat of extinction.
Of course, those are probably the only South Africans CCJ knows.

n 1502 the newly appointed governor, Nicolás de Ovando, arrived in Hispaniola. The Spanish Crown expected Ovando to bring order to a colony in disarray.[9][14] Ovando interpreted this as authorizing subjugation of the native Taínos. Thus, Ovando authorized the Jaragua Massacre in November 1503. In 1504, when Tainos overran a small Spanish garrison in Higüey on the island’s eastern side, Ovando assigned Ponce de León to crush the rebellion.[14] Ponce de León was actively involved in the Higüey massacre, about which friar Bartolomé de las Casas attempted to notify Spanish authorities. Ovando rewarded his victorious commander by appointing him frontier governor of the newly conquered province, then named Higüey.[15] Ponce de León received a substantial land grant which authorized sufficient Indian slave labor to farm his new estate.[16]Ponce de León prospered in this new role. He found a ready market for his farm produce and livestock at nearby Boca de Yuma where Spanish ships stocked supplies before the long voyage back to Spain. In 1505 Ovando authorized Ponce de León to establish a new town in Higüey, which he named Salvaleón. In 1508 King Ferdinand (Queen Isabella having opposed the exploitation of natives but dying in 1504) authorized Ponce de León to conquer the remaining Tainos and exploit them in gold mining.[17]
These weren’t sweet fellas.

The Spanish needed their labor, killing them would have been counterproductive. There are many reasons why the Spanish didn’t exterminate the indigenous population of the New World, forbearance wasn’t one of them.

Dead is worse than subjugated, IMO. Hell the conquistadores were probably way more vicious. But the folks who settled the USA were far more efficient at genocide.

What money? The victim is a successful entertainment lawyer who has now come out as a victim after decades with no cause of legal action against her dead assailant. There are named witnesses to both the prelude to the attack and the attack itself. Witnesses who document Jett’s active steps to prevent the rape from coming to light. The bassist who replaced her recounts the band members repeatedly joking about it.
I don’t really care how cynical you are, because with the number of people who’s stories all line up it actually takes a conspiratorial mindset to instead believe this didn’t happen.

First of all, there is no excuse for someone raping a minor who was drugged so she could offer no resistance.
Additionally, there was a significant portion of the punk rock scene in the US who did not engage in the hard partying lifestyle, including a few who neither drank alcohol or were drug users - probably the most famous example is Henry Rollins.

Waukesha woman accused of hit and run, claimed ‘ISIS was coming’
“Waukesha resident Darlene Spears was allegedly so afraid of an imaginary ISIS attack in the city that she commandeered a neighbor’s truck and then crashed it into him.
Spears, 45, was charged June 30 in Waukesha County Circuit Court with second-degree recklessly endangering safety, operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent and hit and run resulting in personal injury.
A criminal complaint says police found out about the incident while responding to a report of a car accident involving an injury in the 1200-block of Fleetfoot Drive.
There they found and spoke to Mark Menting, who as a result of the accident had one broken finger on his right hand and sustained injuries to both of his legs and his right arm. Menting’s truck was parked on the lawn in front an apartment building, according to the complaint.”

I remember the 70s all too well. I remember the drugs of the 70s all too well too. I knew dudes that ‘talked’ about taking advantage of someone that was ‘partying’ with them. It was all passed off as fun.

Money and magical thinking - another match made in heaven:
Templeton Foundation awards $3.4 million for study of creation
The Templeton Religion Trust has awarded a $3.4 million grant to Trinity International University in Deerfield, Ill., to examine and develop the Christian doctrine of creation within evangelical theology. The grant is the largest of its kind in Trinity’s 118 year history.
The three-year study will focus on a different theme each year: reading Genesis in an age of science; affirming the doctrine of creation in an age of science; and reclaiming theological anthropology in an age of science.
Rather than defend against godless explanations of origins, the researchers will concentrate on highlighting biblical truth.
“Instead of adopting a defensive posture, this project works hard to lay out what Scripture and the rich theological heritage of the church contribute to our understanding of creation,” D.A. Carson, research professor of New Testament, said in a statement.

My final 2 cents on the whole “Southern Heritage” defense of the Confed flag. (well, final words today…lol)
I was born and raised in the South. My mother was born and raised in the South. My mother’s mother was born and raised in the South. My mother’s mother’s mother was born and raised in the South (after being brought here from Africa, like alot of Black folk, I am 2 generations removed from sharecroppers and slavery). The same can be said for my father, his father, his father’s father…..you see where I’m going with this.
I love my city NOLA. I love the Southern heritage of NOLA and I’ve NEVER been embarassed to be from the South.
Being a native Southerner is my HERITAGE, and I and I’d bet a majority of the Black folk in the South, DO NOT consider the Confed flag as representin’ our heritage.
I’ve lived in the South and my family has lived in the South as long as a majority of the White Southerners who like to defend the flag as part of their “Southern Heritage”.
Now what makes their “heritage” more important than mine. What is it about “my Southern heritage” that makes it less symbolic of the Southern heritage than theirs?
I have idea, and I’m sure you guys do to!

This is pathetic. If terrorism is to have any coherent meaning at all (other than things the authorities particularly don’t like to see), then the Charleston murders surely qualify.
Perhaps the trouble is that this admission would get too close to one of the two great unmentionables of US politics, i.e., that a successful campaign of terrorism was waged in the US South after the civil war to undo reconstruction and implement Jim Crow.

Speaking of the hate business, reactionary religious right personality Chuck Baldwin declares:
THE CONFEDERATE FLAG NEEDS TO BE RAISED, NOT LOWERED
[…]
In 1864, Confederate General Patrick Cleburne warned his fellow southerners of the historical consequences should the South lose their war for independence. He was truly a prophet. He said if the South lost, “It means that the history of this heroic struggle will be written by the enemy. That our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers; will learn from Northern school books their version of the war; will be impressed by all of the influences of History and Education to regard our gallant debt as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.” No truer words were ever spoken.
History revisionists flooded America’s public schools with Northern propaganda about the people who attempted to secede from the United States, characterizing them as racists, extremists, radicals, hatemongers, traitors, etc. You know, the same way that people in our federal government and news media attempt to characterize Christians, patriots, war veterans, constitutionalists, et al. today.
[…]
And on and on with more anti-Lincoln derp and lost cause noise.
It’s amazing, but Baldwin has plenty of followers. Lot of people think like him. Not the majority, fortunately, but enough to cause trouble.
This is the end result of the addiction to fantasy Baldwin and his ilk suffer. They just can’t bring themselves into the modern world.

Your question about the FBI culture is a good one. I’m assuming that things have gotten substantially better in the FBI since the Hoover days (which were awful), but biases in law enforcement are dangerous in practice and very difficult to weed out, even assuming leadership is committed to this task.
On paper (e.g., Homeland Security reports) the threat of domestic extremism in the US is being taken seriously, but I still suspect that threats from the left are much more seriously investigated than comparable or worse threats from the right. In fact I think there’s a nontrivial chance law enforcement gets blindsided by a right wing extremist attack in the next few years because of this.

Despite the fact that, ecoterrorism usually is arson or destruction of Property. Unless you are talking about the Sea Shepard Society attacking the ships of the Faroe Islands during their annual hunting of Pilot Whales, they really aren’t a threat.
Should note, that the hunting of Whales in the Faroes has been done in a sustainable manner, and the Faroes are too hostile and remote for major large scale agriculture. So, I would like to see the Sea Shepard Society get their butt whupped in this one narrow case.

US immigration policy actually makes perfect sense, once one realizes that the whole point is to reduce cost in the US labor market as much as possible.
Thus we have:
1) No real employer sanctions.
2) The deliberate creation of a large class of people with legal status issues who can be exploited more effectively precisely because of these status issues.
3) Variable and capricious enforcement of existing law, usually vs. the immigrants, as a fig leaf to cover up the rest of this mess.

The government should care about the public health and welfare of our citizens. Somehow believing that has made me a socialist. Bernie 2016!
I still don’t get how that happened.

My husband recently retired from the military. If these clowns don’t think cops and soldiers are forced to do things they don’t want to do to ensure their precious freedom they are, well, idiots.
Of course, they are idiots.
I find it more upsetting to know that cops and soldiers are made to do things they don’t want to do to pad another CEO’s obscenely opulent nest. I haven’t seen our freedoms threatened since WWII.

Shrug. I’ve seen worse
Hmm…maybe I should have phrased that differently?
I just really, really, really dislike her.

Freedom for white people in the US has not been threatened since WWII. The story for non-whites is more complicated than that (significant progress was made embarrassing recently, and these gains are under present threat).
Of course, the only kind of freedom conservative blowhards care about is the freedom of white people (especially wealthy Christian men), especially when such ‘freedom’ is expressed by oppressing others.

I enjoy the freedom to not get robbed at the ATM or as I’m leaving the grocery store. Cops interact with truly unpleasant people to allow me to do that, and most cops don’t enjoy the experience. Most military folks aren’t anxious to bring harm to ISIS types. Are they “forced” to do those jobs? I guess not, but I am grateful they do it so I don’t have to.
So cry me a river for the county clerk who doesn’t want to preside over gay marriage ceremonies.
I sound older than I am, so time to have a nice glass of wine lol.

Could be Jenny too.
“What took you so long, old man?”
Hmm, that could be a few characters. Susan. Any other children or Grand-Children of the Doctor. Romana too. Definitely not the Rani.
Who else, aside from Clara, would have the cheekiness to call the Doctor, “Old Man”?
Knowing how a far number of people refer to their fathers or other living male ancestors as “Old Man,” I want to say this is a descendant of the Doctor’s. So, Susan, Jenny, or any number of unseen children and grandchildren. That seems like a safe bet. We already saw the Doctor as a Child.

Always a good call.
I’m thinking new garage door, this year. Relatively small investment with large effect on curb appeal.

They are both wrong? The law is the law. I support gay marriage and I support deportation of illegal residents who break criminal laws.San Francisco screwed the pooch IMHO.
Like how can that even be enforced?
Are we supposed to set up checkpoints at every road that enters city limits (or why not just have one great big gate that opens at sunrise & closes at sundown?) where everyone has to wait in line for a license to enter the city.
That would make my commute suck both ways.

OUTRAGE!
NY Times Keeping Ted Cruz' Newest Book off Bestsellers List http://t.co/A78sIn46bM pic.twitter.com/7CQwmupVRN
— Mediaite (@Mediaite) July 9, 2015
“We have uniform standards that we apply to our best seller list, which includes an analysis of book sales that goes beyond simply the number of books sold,” a Times spokesperson told Politico’s Dylan Byers. “This book didn’t meet that standard this week.” When asked about the standard, the spokesman cryptically that the Times analyzes “patterns of sales.”
Translation: Buying your own book through your Super PAC doesn’t translate to landing on the NYT Bestsellers List.
Of course, Drudge has his sirens going and Breitbart and the Blaze are derping about this. No, I’m not linking to them.

Also, come September 1st, Clara becomes the longest lasting companion in Doctor Who history based from first to last appearance. Tegan holds it for the moment, and she was on the show for 3 days short of 3 years.
Also, during this season, she will become the longest lasting NuWho companion by screen time, and will become 4th longest in all of Doctor Who history, only behind Jo Grant, Sarah Jane Smith, and Jamie McCrimmon.
If she appears in the Christmas Special, she passes Jo. And Capaldi wants her to stay for Series 10. If she does, she becomes the 2nd longest lasting companion in Doctor Who history, and longest lasting women.
Clara cannot pass the record of Jamie McCrimmon. The way the show is filmed has changed too much, and there is a full 10 hour gap between him and second place Sarah Jane Smith.

Considering the rape story further.
I can’t speak for why guys do what some guys do as far as to force themselves on a woman. It is not in my makeup.
I do know it is not something they really talk about in any meaningful manner. At least not in my experience. I don’t remember any discussion on how a guy plans it all out, etc. I suspect there is some inner hate going on if a guy does take advantage, and I doubt it is ever spoken about after the fact.
It would be like most crimes. No one is going to admit it, it was a situation and they worked within that situation and took advantage when it came. Later they justify it in their minds and it goes into the denial bank locked away, maybe even as a memory that it never happened.
The other side of the story that wasn’t really covered is why the other band members passed it all off. In a way were they thinking in a similar manner as the rapist or the others excusing it?
Do they think it is all part of making it in the business, part of the territory and the victim isn’t able to take care of herself or is totally naive.
Call it the ‘casting couch’ and there is an immediate recognition that there is career gain if one is willing. How does that fit into the overall dynamic and are some women just as prone to excuse it in the same way as some of the guy?. Was that what Joan Jett and Cherie Currie were thinking?
And does that dynamic make it tougher on the victims making them even more reluctant to make the charge? They can’t even count on some of the women around them to understand and help.
Rape may be a crime that we have to totally rethink. In a way it is almost like the victim is guilty and has to prove the innocence when it should almost be the accused has the burden of proving innocence. And yes, I know that isn’t going to happen. However rape seems to be one of, if not the hardest crime to bring charges and to prove.
That is why it really sad to see it excused in any manner. Even an allegation has an element of seriousness surrounding it. Or, it should.
