Bernie making a lot of noise about the need for people to show up for change to happen, doesn’t mention that his supporters flipped their shit over reports that Harry Reid got casino owners to allow their workers time off to vote in the caucuses.

Bernie just said he’s gonna give insurance to 29 million people who don’t have it. Huh? I thought his whole plan was supposed to be something other than insurance.

Short answer is yes. His campaign seems to believe this is her Achilles heel, that the transcripts will reveal that she’s somehow in collusion with the banks, that she promised them special treatment in exchange for bankrolling her campaign. Or, at the very least, show that she’s not as mean towards them as she claims to be.

If HRC was stupid enough to claim that she was telling the banks to shape up or ship out, which I don’t think she has done, then the transcripts would be a legit issue to prove or refute that claim.

I don’t think that is the goal, to expose wrong doing. No one is saying that, because the goal is to expose hypocrisy and point a definite polar economic difference between Bernie and Hillary. The rest is mockery and wetdreams.

Sure, HRC is a card-carrying member of the oligarchy. I don’t need any transcripts of her speeches to banks to tell me that. But that’s a pretty minor annoyance in my view. The first priority is to defeat the Republicans in 2016.
I’d love to do it with Sanders’ more populist message, but I don’t see him getting it done in the general election for two reasons. 1) The Sanders campaign is making mistakes in primary season that show it’s not ready for prime time, and 2) Defeating the oligarchy and the GOP at the same time just isn’t going to happen in 2016. Maybe that could work in an alternate history where Occupy Wall Street never dissipated.

It is also pretty risky for a prank, since both Trump and anti-Trump forces might target them.

I should think Sanders supporters would be cautious in their demands for speeches from Hillary, considering Bernie made a promise to release a proposal for comprehensive gun control reform and to make a foreign policy speech months ago and has yet to do either. President Donald Trump plus a Twitter account. Yeah, that’ll go well.
There have been some previous pundit pieces about Donald Trump’s “mastery” of Twitter; this, thankfully, is not one of those. But it bears repeating that Donald Trump is not a master of Twitter. Donald Trump uses Twitter as a child would.
He retweets things that make him look good. He pours molten invective over anyone who makes him look bad.
Saying Donald Trump has mastered Twitter through a nearly obsessive-compulsive combination of self-promotion and insults is like saying a preteen boy has mastered the video game Call of Duty because he knows how to use every foul word he’s ever learned in each and every online match.

Zika virus: 5%
Trump/Rubio: 2%
Cruz/SMOD: 1%

@PoliticalLine That has to be a prank. White supremacists are sick people, but they know better than to be that blatant.

I’ve heard some reports that the Cruz staff is working hard to shift expectations, one is reported to have said “We will be very happy with a 3rd place win”.
Ted…. 3rd place isn’t a win. It’s not even being the Second-second. It’s bottom of the totem pole when you figure that it’s really just a 3 man race as this post.

I’m wondering how long before the Klan disavows any connection with the GOP, saying “We might be racist idiots, but they are bat-shit crazy”?

I’m having a discussion on Facebook with my brother-in-law’s brother about Bernie and such. He lives in southeast Asia with his wife and fairly newborn daughter. It’s been really nice to hear from him. I wanted to share his comments here:
It’s really a bottom-up vs top-down election cycle. Trump and Cruz really garner their support from the bottom of the food chain. Sanders is gaining support from the most sophisticated and worldly people, who realize that his proposals are not revolutionary in other 1st world countries.
And of course the thing is, ALL of those other 1st world countries provide cleaner, safer, healthier, less stressful quality of life for the middle class. The US is the best place in the world to be rich. It’s not the best place to be anything else though. That’s the damn truth.
I wanted fighting pits. They said “No, no, let’s do caucuses.”
Now who feels stupid?— Jonah Goldberg (@JonahNRO) February 24, 2016

More from my brother-in-law’s brother:
There’s hardly a rational way to dispute, if you ask me, that Obama’s presidency will go down in history as a HUGE success. His eight years in office have lifted the high water mark in civility. And it’s happened amid DELIBERATE obstruction from congress as well.
So this is what I mean. It’s not accurate to say Barack Obama has changed the country. The fact that the people elected him made a statement, and the will of the people was cemented by reelecting him, and that’s what has encouraged progress to be achieved. Gay marriage and legal canibas could never have happened if a Repub had won. And of course there NEVER had been any movement in the direction of universal healthcare, which is now en route.
Progress always wins eventually.
Thank you eldest sister for making the dude who said the above comment family!
Based on CNN’s exit polling questions, it looks like a big night for Trump. 57% angry about the federal government, 61% want an outsider.
Tornado a few miles out, should pass N of us.
re: #277 Backwoods_Sleuth
Oh god… The comedic imagery this evening is just wonderful. I see him doing slow donuts in the hallway shouting “I AM CHAOS!!!” and all you hear is the tinny buzz of the electric motor and the crash of cheap folding desks being knocked over with ballots flying everywhere.
How alarming do I find this #GOPprimary? Begging British Crown to take us back doesn’t feel like the worst way this could end. #NVcaucus

re: #89 Major Tom
It seems to have struck a nerve in this room.
“People think I’m full of shit. Clearly I’ve struck a nerve.”
Seriously, has there ever in the history of the paid speech circuit been an instance of a quid pro quo arrangement being offered in the text of the goddamn speech? Because otherwise this seems like literally nothing.
re: #98 Major Tom
Achilles heel, collusion with the banks, in exchange for bankrolling her campaign.
no. That’s not it. Its about playing the room no matter what the room. Not nefarious collusion.
Oh, you mean like excusing a shitty voting record on guns because you’re just “playing to the room”, except one is an actual record of voting for actual laws, while the other is giving an ultimately meaningless speech over some rubber chicken. Got it.
re: #100 Major Tom
Then you have nothing to fear.
So now telling someone you think they are wrong is a sign of fear?
re: #107 Major Tom
I don’t think that is the goal, to expose wrong doing. No one is saying that, because the goal is to expose hypocrisy and point a definite polar economic difference between Bernie and Hillary. The rest is mockery and wetdreams.
Its a tactical move to differentiate and force progressives to chose camps by exposing inauthentic populist talk.
IMO.
Oh. So when you said it was about “Pay for play[…] Basically” You didn’t actually mean it? Or you don’t think exposing “Pay for play” is exposing “wrongdoing”? Or you’re just full of it?
