So, prediction time: Is Trump going to try to ‘tack to the centre’ when it comes to the general election or is going to keep saying ‘populist’ stuff.

Or if he does try to change course - will his current supporters allow him to?

Pretty much. And this is why I have a hard time with the Trump/Hitler comparisons - I get that the rhetoric is there, but when it comes down to it, Trump hasn’t killed millions of people, and I don’t think he plans to do so.

But when the plans made do not take into account the number who will or may die, or the plans not made result in deaths, the culpability may not reach the same levels, but it’s there.

Pretty much the story of the Soviet famine of ‘32-‘33 (of which Holodomor, the famine in Ukraine, was a part). There probably was no murderous intent, but there sure was murderous indifference.

Indeed. If you make out those different from you out to be something less than human then that leads to genocide. It’s honestly even though while terrorism and terrorists repulse me, i resist impulses to label them animals.

I’m shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!

According to a report from CNN Money’s Dylan Byers, Trump consulted with campaign manager Corey Lewandowski during the first commercial break of Thursday’s event, coordination that is explicitly banned by the network’s debate rules.

Citing “rival campaign sources,” CNN reported that while Trump has broken the rules by communicating backstage with Lewandowski at multiple debates, the campaign manager met Trump directly on stage Thursday, which Byers characterized as “a new extreme.” The campaigns were explicitly informed they were not allowed to communicate with the candidates during breaks, the sources told CNN.

An unnamed Fox News source said debate staff asked Lewandowski to leave the stage but he refused. Network representatives then told the campaigns for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Ohio Gov. John Kasich that they could consult with their candidates because Trump had broken the rules.

I can see a tiny bit of logic there. The Tea Party became a big thing because crazy white right wingers thought the Tea Party could save them from the future (which is represented by having a Black man in the White House.) The Tea Party didn’t save them. The future is still right on course, offering up a woman and a socialist as that from which they need to be saved. Obama let this happen by just serving as President and not scaring enough people to join the crazy right wingers to overcome the future. Now the crazy right wingers think Trump can save them from the future. Therefore, Obama is responsible for Trump.

Wait. There isn’t any logic in there. Oh well, I gave it my best.

AN ANALYSIS OF HILLARY CLINTON’S TAX PROPOSALS

Hillary Clinton proposes raising taxes on high-income taxpayers, modifying taxation of multinational corporations, repealing fossil fuel tax incentives, and increasing estate and gift taxes. Her proposals would increase revenue by $1.1 trillion over the next decade. Nearly all of the tax increases would fall on the top 1 percent; the bottom 95 percent of taxpayers would see little or no change in their taxes.

CONCLUSIONS
Hillary Clinton has proposed a number of tax changes that would raise revenues and make the tax system more progressive, primarily by raising taxes on higher-income individuals. The proposals would tighten the system of international taxation by reducing avenues for taxavoidance, which contrasts with other prominent proposals that would eliminate taxation of foreign income. The proposals also include various incremental reforms that are mostly aimed at closing loopholes and eliminating subsidies for fossil fuels.

There is a lot more in the paper.

Kansas strikes me as fertile ground for Cruz but what TP said about Brownback.

re: #78 wrenchwench

Yet another fine example of how little regard wingnuts have for any rules. They’d rape and murder if there were no laws saying otherwise.

Which brings me to something I realized while doing dishes (one of my favourite times to free associate). Trump’s followers are following him because they believe he is going to give them permission. “Permission for what?” you ask.

The CPAC winner invariably has gone on to lose the GOP nomination, and lose in the general election.

Only four managed to win the straw poll in presidential election years: Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush, and Mitt Romney. 4 out of 20.

That pretty much means if you win CPAC, it’s the kiss of death.

But at the end of the day you could have a 3.2% beer at the bar. (at least when I lived there in the 70’s)

One day in Kansas, we were passed several times, in both directions, by a UPS truck. When the driver got off work, he grabbed an ice chest with some beer and stuff, and met us on the road in his pickup. We had run out of water on a hot day. I drank a beer (not any 3.2 either) very fast and got a tremendous headache. But loved it.

Me too. I’m very fond of horror and I think it shines best in the short story form. Too often, you just can’t sustain the sense of dread over more than 30 or 40 pages. In a lot of ways the best horror stories are the shortest. The shortest being

So if Cruz wins Kansas and perhaps Maine…how many delegates can he actually win?

Polls have Trump ahead in LA. Might he still win the day with delegates? And can Cruz catch up overall?

Truth be told, I think I would like to see Trump win the GOP nomination, just at the time many voters are turning against him. He could go into general election very weak and beat up. He has to fall at some point. Maybe the GOP has stepped up in the nick of time to stop him, but I hope it is too late.

The best guess for Kansas delegates right now, according to The Green Papers, is Cruz 26, Trump 11, Rubio 3, Kasich 0. There are 46 delegates each available in Louisiana and Kentucky, and 23 in Maine. Maine’s delegates are proportional (10% threshold) as are Kentucky’s (5% threshold). Louisiana has a 20% threshold for statewide delegates and proportional delegates in each Congressional district.

Bottom line- I think Cruz is likely to win more delegates today than Trump, but that’s not certain.

URGENT WARNING: SONGWRITERS BEWARE OF NBC/UNIVERSAL’S SONGLAND SUBMISSION FORM
Mar 4, 201655,656 views36 Likes33 CommentsShare on LinkedInShare on FacebookShare on Twitter
Several clients of mine have brought this to my attention, so I thought I would address it here.

The NBC/Universal submission agreement for the “Songland” TV show states that NBC will own all rights to use and exploit all of your songs involved in the show including the songs you submit in the initial application. You would also purportedly be giving up your song even if you do not get selected to be on the Songland TV show (so whatever songs you use to audition would arguably become theirs to use and exploit even if they do not choose you). It also states that you waive your rights to claim any royalties from the songs whatsoever. On top of that, it states that you waive your right to sue NBC Songland (e.g., in case you didn’t read the contract upon signing).
