Skipping it too. The media has been way too lenient on Trump and this probably will just be another example of that.

As a veteran from a family of a whole lot of veterans, I’m going to come out and say that any criticism of a veterans position does not need to start with “I thank you for your service.”

“jeebus…some Marine vet whining that neither candidates mentioned homeless vets and complains money is spent on refugees instead of vets.”

That this happened shows that the Marine vet hasn’t been paying attention the last seven plus years. Veteran homelessness has been decreased because the president put emphasis on it, and FL Michelle Obama and 2nd Lady Jill Biden have worked on it through Joining Forces. In fact, according to The Christian Science Monitor, veterans’ homelessness has been cut by approximately one-half as of August 2016. It really pisses me off that some Americans don’t have facts about anything because of the type of news media they consume. Of course, if they watch Fox News and consume right-wing media, they’re not going to know sh*t about sh*t. The Obama Administration released a report on the state of veteran homelessness last month.

“On the whole, veteran homelessness has decreased 47 percent since 2010 and the number of unsheltered veterans has been slashed by more than half, according to a report released Monday by the Obama administration.”

“”The most recent point-in-time count report really reflects the progress that is being made in addressing what has been unfortunately a real fixture in our community’s landscape for unfortunately years and years and years.” Thomas O’Toole, the director of the US Department of Veteran Affairs’ National Center on Homelessness among Veterans, tells The Christian Science Monitor. “Really to be able to see the ongoing progress that’s being made, I think speaks to good policy and good implementation of that policy.”“

Not really. Society has always been tilted to benefit rich white men. So that’s not an example of affirmative action. It’s an example of business as usual.

Trump is just an enormous asshole who gets away with it because he’s rich.

The media is ignoring this (and innumerable other show-stoppers for Trump’s joke candidacy) to keep the horse race narrative alive and because of the above-mentioned tilt. E.g., the media eventually turned on Sarah Palin in a way that they haven’t (and won’t) turn on Trump.

Most Victims Are Men: 5 Realities Of Rape In The Military (Cracked link):

Even if you’ve been following this issue in the news, we bet you’ve never heard this stat before: Most victims of sexual assault in the U.S. military are men. That’s right — at least 14,000 male soldiers are raped every year. Now, the average male is still at far less risk of assault — there are more total victims because there are way more men in general. But we’re going to guess that’s about 14,000 more male rapes per year than you’d have previously assumed.

Hmmm…remember this, from the 2008 primary days?

The mainstream press’ frequent adoring coverage of Obama is mocked, one of his debate questions is, “Are you comfortable?” Meanwhile, Hillary’s absurd tendency to dismiss every primary defeat as expected is lampooned.

Even Hillary Clinton herself has weighed in on the sketch, saying it shows the degree in which the press is biased against her. Judge for yourself, check out the clip to your right for more.

Hungary charges camerawoman accused of tripping fleeing migrants

Hungarian prosecutors filed charges on Wednesday against a camerawoman accused of kicking and tripping migrants fleeing police near the southern border with Serbia last year.

Petra Laszlo was fired form her job at N1TV, a television station with nationalist sympathies, after video footage spread online appearing to show her kicking a girl and a young man.

Her prosecution for disorderly conduct comes as political tensions mount over Europe’s migration crisis in the region.

re: #360 Stanley Sea

He lists 500 companies.

Flim flam artist.

I don’t think this is news, but it’s worth knowing.

Any idiot can list themselves as a CEO of 500 companies. It’s part of structured financing. Paper-only companies can be made for a pittance to serve as parties in complex transactions such as the financing of a building project, the purchase of trade goods, or the leasing of airplanes.

For example, if Trump wants to go ahead and build a death camp to satisfy his base, he has his Best People create a company called Trump Taco Resorts LLC for like $400 and a phone call to a corporate servicing company in Delaware. Or, if he’s doing this multi-national, he has it registered in the Caymans. Now, how the Russkie oil money gets involved, that’s an open question, but they probably supply the posts for the fencing, specially ordered from Severstal at a special low cost of $5 million per fence post… $20 for the post, and $4,999,980 for shipping costs, you see…

Remedial work on Corporate Trust accounts was some of the most eye-opening work I did this past year. I saw a set of flowcharts for a sale of two BILLION dollars worth of timber lands that was more complex than a Space Shuttle launch sequence. The large bank who hosted one of the half-dozen paper trusts involved, had hired double-barreled NYC lawyers to break down the transaction and see if there was any legal action that could be taken to recover funds because one of the Giant Fucking Investment Banks backing the transfer had gone belly-up mid-transaction (right around 2008) and this bank was trying to see if they could recover anything… Hmmm…

I saw a LOT of paperwork for aircraft leases registered to P.O. Boxes in the Caribbean, for example.

I only describe this because I once saw a Trump fan tweet about how he was a business genius because he “ran 700 companies”. No, dumbass, he put his name on 700 transactions… The companies are a piece of paper in a filing cabinet in George Town, Grand Cayman…

Pawn of the Oppressor  Sep 7, 2016 • 7:51:22pm

Fun aside about the timber land transaction (land with forest on it, not boots, by the way): The seller of the timberlands was an office supply company that rhymes with Losses Smacks. Waaay back in the old days they were actually a paper PRODUCING company. They transitioned to SELLING stuff made out of paper in the middle of last century, but they still had over two billion dollars worth of trees on the books, probably for over sixty years by that point.

When the recession hit, they decided to sell the trees, but it was parcelled up into a structured transaction that I can’t really describe from memory - like I said, it needed a thirty-page memo with five pages of charts to describe - but I do remember that the “sale” was really something like a very long lease to multiple paper-only companies, through trusts, with a couple of $700 million downpayments up front (backed by the Big Fucking Banks), so the tax bill on the “sale” wouldn’t be fully due until the late 2020’s.

Incredible stuff. Anybody who thinks there’s a pat solution for financial scheming is fooling themselves.

Yeah, but the “big brains” on MSNBC were discussing it like it was a real thing. Tweetie was parsing the difference between verbal and body language information; Rachel was apparently stymied by the comment; and Andrea Mitchell even saying she was going to have to ask her CIA sources if it was true—when the appropriate response should have been derisive laughter all around.

re: #407 Maxwell Not So Smart

I really don’t care about harshness with them, especially with the Evangelical So-called “Christians.” While I am no longer Christian, I do have deep respect for most traditions within Christianity. Not the evangelicals, who I would not call Christian. They basically use a reading of the Bible that allows them to be complete assholes.

Because of the first time I was pushed out of the Church (14-15 years old, 11-12 years ago), I lost the ability to feel faith within my heart, so know I can know it, but not feel it. That is the worst loss from the that time. I had gotten passed it, but with Trump, and their support of him, it has come loose, and since it is now apparent that they aren’t even Christian, I am simply letting loose and hauling off on them.

414
Maxwell Not So Smart  Sep 7, 2016 • 8:03:06pm

re: #413 Ziggy_TARDIS

No judgment here. I’m not qualified for that. I gave up on religion many years ago myself still find some comfort in traditions myself.

I don’t get how the evangelicals though I don’t really know them can support a liar that has been married several times and is obviously not religious himself. If they had some kind of real belief I would have thought what we know to be Trump would disqualify him from getting their votes.

re: #402 Pawn of the Oppressor

I said it a couple of days ago: I’d like to know how much liquid assets Trump has right now in his own name — how much unencumbered funds in the bank and how much in stocks and bonds. I’m going to guess somewhere around a few million, but it could be less. Every other part of his so-called wealth is money committed to servicing debt and operating expenses and real estate, which is probably not owned directly by Trump but by one of his shell companies.

So, basically, Trump is not all that rich. Take away his real estate, the planes, cars and boats, and he’s probably a two-bit millionaire with a lot of paper assets.

Owning real estate is just dandy, but there are expenses associated with it, as any homeowner can tell you. Those expenses increase exponentially with the size of the property.
