Video: SNL’s Melissa McCarthy Has Baghdad Sean Spicer DOWN
Melissa McCarthy is just great in this sketch lampooning Baghdad Sean Spicer. I haven’t laughed this much at a Saturday Night Live skit in years.

This skit will become legend. I’ve watched it 3 times.
I started to watch it and started to laugh and cannot catch my breath. A true ROFL.

That was a ROFL line for sure.

Someone has probably already mentioned, but I missed it because I could not look at the internet for two months -
I keep feeling like I’m in Ray Bradberry’s short story “A Sound of Thunder” where a man goes back in time to hunt a T. rex and steps on a butterfly. He comes back to find a fascist has just won the election.
We read this short story in high school. I just want to close the the book.

I saw that yesterday. That lawyer should go back to school and actually learn what the law says.
For the record: rational basis review is the most deferential review the courts have created. There’s strict scrutiny, which generally applies to cases involving “fundamental constitutional rights” (basically bill of rights and rifhts protected by a he 14th Amendment, or cases involving race or national origin). Then there’s intermediate scrutiny which is basically cases involving sex discrimination. Rational basis review applies pretty much to everything else. If they can’t even articulate a rational basis for the executive order, they are so far outside the bounds of constitutional authority that… I don’t even have a word for it

about PETA’s accusation of animal abuse during the filming of A Dog’s Purpose:
‘A Dog’s Purpose’ video was intentionally misleading, investigation reveals https://t.co/NbRCTJ1HZn pic.twitter.com/hNMhdITySJ
— WCPO (@WCPO) February 5, 2017
The American Humane Society (AHS) has determined that a viral video that appeared to show animal abuse on the set of “A Dog’s Purpose” “mischaracterized” events on the set of the film.
In a press release, AHS said an investigation by an independent third-party revealed that the video — originally released by TMZ — had been to make it seem as if a dog had been pushed into rushing water against its will. It also revealed that the two scenes in the video had been shot at different times.
snip
The AHS also stated that the organization felt that handlers could have been gentler with the dog in the video, but also stated that unreleased footage showed the dog eager to jump into the water after the incident.
“It is disappointing that the public was misled by a manufactured controversy promoted by a radical organization like People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals with a mission to remove animals from films and other parts of our lives. We are the first to address and fight cruelty and abuse, and no such things happened on the set of ‘A Dog Purpose,’” said Dr. Kwane Stewart, the veterinarian who heads American Humane’s “No Animals Were Harmed” program.

Now that I think about it…do you care to expound on this comment about staying away from the middle? It is very obvious it is a big concern with many. What does coming to the middle mean and what makes it too much, not enough, etc.
It just seems so easy to say, but I very seldom see it explained beyond “Hillary was not Bernie, she was too much a Republican Lite, etc.”
I’m serious. This is going to need to be pounded out before 2018 and for sure by 2020 or we got problems in the ol’ Democratic party again. We sure do not need that. We need to be a machine…and if we had any problems last election is we (collective) were not a machine. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said on Sunday that President Donald Trump “deserves great credit” for signing an executive order temporarily barring visitors from seven predominantly Muslim countries from entering the United States, which he claimed is different from the “Muslim ban” Trump touted on the campaign trail.
“I think the President deserves great credit in moving from where he began in the campaign, which was a Muslim ban, which I at the time said I completely disagreed with,” Christie told John Dickerson on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”
He said Trump “tailored” the order from his campaign promises with the help of advisors.

I took it to mean Pumpkin Pinochet’s poo-flinging at the US judicial system. Plus, he and his goons seems more and more desperate for a terrorist attack to serve as justification for all the crap they’ve pulled and want to pull.
I get this feeling that Trump’s going to have his “You can’t handle the truth!” moment in the not to distant future and tell everyone that he will be ignoring the courts. At that moment, we can really call for impeachment.
As for the terrorist attack, his negatives are bad. The only reason people would support him if they were meh on him before the attack. In his case, it will only drive more people away.

— lawhawk (@lawhawk) February 5, 2017
This weekend, we have continued violence against Ukraine, Bannon/Trump went to Florida to play golf, shill his hotel/resort, and impugn the integrity of a federal judge (again).
Trump supporters don’t care. They still seem to think Trump’s helping them.
How to disabuse them of this notion. That’s part of a bigger problem of dealing with deprogramming decades of Fox News agitprop. Fox spends time covering a pitiful excuse of a rally in support of Trump in NYC where they couldn’t even get enough people to fill a short bus, but couldn’t be bothered covering major rallies the day before where thousands attended.
These people live in a bubble, one that people like Jones, Prison Planet and Hoft help to disinform with their propaganda, which reinforces and is a leading edge of agitprop that Fox helps mainstream nationwide.
No easy answers to this, but this schism in society isn’t going to go away anytime soon.

Exactly. Voters had access to all the information they could possibly have needed to make their choice; all they had to do was pay attention.
Voters will get no quarter from me.
Yup. Here, they several choices for information:
a) Right-wing hate radio
b) Extremely conservative-leaning newspaper that endorsed Mr. Trump early
c) No Internet service
d) No cell service
e) No Democratic surrogates speaking but plenty of Republicans
f) A non-existent Democratic Party except me
I don’t blame my neighbours. Propaganda is very effective when there are no other choices
It’s fun watching the people defending Gabbard: New York Observer (owned by Kushner), “The Liberty Conservative”, and Tom Garrett (Douchebag Republican-VA).

She just went to Syria and had a private meeting with Assad. She’s neither left wing nor liberal, she’s an opportunistic chameleon, virulently anti-gay and conservative at heart.
It’s pretty damned telling however that all she had to do in order to ingratiate herself with the far left was kiss Bernie’s ass. Really demonstrates the shallow depth of analysis going on over there.

My youngest sister is still posting a lot of St. Bernie stuff on Facebook. I’ve been sitting back on letting her know how far away from any and all future Democratic elections I want him to stay, but if he starts sticking his nose back into Dem business, I’m going to start speaking up. Bernie needs to focus on his own Independent label and fuck out of Dem. decisions.

Gabbard’s a conservative from a conservative family in a state where she couldn’t get elected to her seat without running as a Democrat.
She’s as a much of a fraud as Trump is, her and Manchin both.

You’re right - I made a mistake in assuming everyone in the country has most or all the privileges I take for granted.
Still, there were enough people across the country with the advantage of having Internet access, cell service, local Democratic politicians, etc. that there’s no excuse for any of them not to have done their homework.

He just keeps releasing his own ‘best of’ over and over again. He’d release a ‘greatest hits’ album but he doesn’t have enough to fill one.
Now for something completely silly.

Ben Sasse is a senator and is wealthy. I’m guessing Social Security is not that big a deal to him.

the first PotC film was a hoot because you could see that the actors were having a great time of it…as the series wore on, so did their entusiasm

My comment is in regard to how old he’ll be when he decides he doesn’t want to work any more. Rich guy has a lot of nerve telling poor people they have to work til they’re dead.

Wow, either we hired some really dumb illegal voters, or George Soros didn’t give clear instructions (they were supposed to go to Michigan, Ohio, and North Carolina, not California and New York).

Wouldn’t that be the logical thing to do? Simply lie about your religious affiliation to get into the U.S. It’s not as if Trump is a Christian. Two Corinthians, anyone?

re: #319 Targetpractice

Not that there’s necessarily anything wrong with that; sometimes, an actor isn’t down for working on a movie, TV series, or play to make high art, but rather to work with specific people involved or even just for the money.
