After 3 Weeks in Office, Half the Country Thinks Trump Should Be Impeached

Politics • Views: 34,968

The latest data from Public Policy Polling shows that it’s taken Donald Trump only 3 weeks in office to get half of the country to believe he should be impeached.

PPP’s new national poll finds that Donald Trump’s popularity as President has declined precipitously just over the last two weeks. On our first poll of his Presidency voters were evenly divided on Trump, with 44% approving of him and 44% also disapproving. Now his approval rating is 43%, while his disapproval has gone all the way up to 53%. If voters could choose they’d rather have both Barack Obama (52/44) or Hillary Clinton (49/45) instead of Trump.

Just three weeks into his administration, voters are already evenly divided on the issue of impeaching Trump with 46% in favor and 46% opposed. Support for impeaching Trump has crept up from 35% 2 weeks ago, to 40% last week, to its 46% standing this week. While Clinton voters initially only supported Trump’s impeachment 65/14, after seeing him in office over the last few weeks that’s gone up already to 83/6.

More than half the voters thought he shouldn’t be there in the first place, so this is no surprise.

With the “should be impeached” number gaining 5% every week, hearings should start in about a month when he’s at 65%, no?

I’m guessing there’s a few Representatives that used to be litigators and are constructing a case against him in their minds. They’re probably wondering how many articles of impeachment they could get away with - like is this one of those cases where you go with two or three causes of action, or one where you say “fuck it” and drop 18 causes of action?

Well, not wanting to see him there is not the same as wanting him impeached.

Things that should expedite an impeachment (but wont because it’s the GOP in control, and IOKIYAR):

1) Flynn’s contacts with the Russians;
2) Trump’s business ties with the Russians;
3) Admin lies about both Flynn’s contacts and Trump’s business dealings;
4) Emoluments clause violations that are now too numerous to count (including using Trump business locations to conduct official business);
5) Conway touting Ivanka Trump business; and
6) Bannon on the NSC in lieu of JCS.

Anyone who has been following Trump’s Russia ties knows that none of his dealings and attitudes towards Russia makes sense from a US policy perspective. Trump has repeatedly pushed a policy that defers to Russia, particularly in Ukraine and the Middle East, even though Trump repeatedly states he’s the toughest SOB out there.

That Pence is taking to defending Trump on Flynn shows that they’re all willing to lie for the others, because the ultimate pursuit of power and enacting/enabling their agenda is far stronger than the urge to uphold the oath of office that they’ve all taken.

Its amusing, but unless these people turn out to vote in 2018 and vote Democrat, there won’t be any impeachment.

I’m seeing tweets that ICE are at the schools, waiting for parents to come pick up their children. Then, they’ll grab the parents.
And it’s not just Latinos they’re taking.

What criteria are they even using for this roundup? Are they starting their Nuremberg Laws early, without the “laws” part first?

Also, I have to wonder if the President will be flying to Florida every weekend on the taxpayers dime. And, if so, couldn’t they take one of the smaller planes the 89th Airlift Wing has available

Written testimony of DHS Secretary John F. Kelly for a House Committee on Homeland Security hearing titled “Ending the Crisis: America’s Borders and the Path to Security”
Release Date: February 7, 2017

[edit]Excerpt:

The executive order on interior immigration enforcement provides DHS with the tools it needs to enforce federal immigration laws within the United States. It will remove many of the obstacles that have been making it more difficult for the dedicated men and women of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to carry out their mission, which includes arresting, detaining, and removing illegal aliens from the United States. Essentially, it will restore the highly successful Secure Communities Program, which allows ICE to more easily target criminal aliens for removal.

A mural on the US-Mexico border wall in Tijuana

Early Thursday, immigration attorneys in Los Angeles started getting calls from clients across the city. Some callers reported being picked up by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents at their homes. Others were caught at their workplaces, including one man detained at a Target store. The first round of Trump-era deportation sweeps had begun.

The news quickly filtered back to immigrant rights activists, who confirmed the detentions and alerted their networks. According to Angelica Salas, the executive director of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA), as many as 134 immigrants were detained in the sweep. Based on her conversations with lawyers, many of those detained had outstanding orders for deportation—and some were sent back to Mexico as early as Thursday afternoon.

An ICE spokeswoman told Mother Jones that “enforcement surges have been part of our operational play book for many years.” She added: “Our focus in these enforcement efforts, and in our day-to-day operations, continues to be individuals who pose a public safety threat.”

The sweeps were the second high-profile ICE action in two days. On Wednesday night, immigration agents in Phoenix found themselves swarmed by protesters when they attempted to deport Guadalupe García de Rayos, a 35-year-old Mexican immigrant with two teenage children who are American citizens. García de Rayos had been caught using a fake Social Security number during a ICE workplace raid in 2008.

Private parties cannot classify information, they can declare it confidential, secret, or sacrosanct for all I care, but only government agencies can classify. Btw, it is a crime to falsely claim classification status.
