Has anyone interviewed the parents of the college student who died from his treatment by the NK government about whether they consider Kim Jong Un “honorable”?

Man, Trump’s really starting to get a bald landing strip on the side of his head.

I don’t have the greatest hair in the world, but anyone who thinks that mess looks even a little bit good has really got mental problems.

I’ve been blessed with very good hair (though there does seem to be more grey than I’d prefer as of late), but I’ve always said if it started to thin or if I started to go bald, I wouldn’t hesitate to bring out the razor. I just don’t get the wild combover insistence.

Seems like a lot of work to shave your whole head over thinning hair. I mean, it’s a big enough PITA to shave my FACE every day.

I’ve thought from the beginning that Lumpy would go down with the Trumpsters. He just has “smarmy” written all over him, which explains his popularity among the grubber wannabe demographic. He would obviously use his connections to make more dough, and his connections are all sleazeballs by definition (“Republicans”). Combine that with some right wing hubris and you have a possible jail cell waiting.

Yup. It’s vitally important that the hero has a gun in order to push the narrative that Good Guys With Guns (tm) are the answer to the ultimate question of Life, the Universe, and Everything.

Hey!
I was out in Colorado the last 13 days and got to visit Wildwood Guitars in Louisville. Small showroom, massive warehouse. 5 thousand high end guitars. Number 1 Fender Custom Shop online retailer.
So I went to specifically hold a guitar I had never held. A Gretsch Billy Bo Jupiter Thunderbird.
The gentleman who greeted me and my son, Lance, went and got one, handed it to me, let me go to a back room, asked how I liked my tone and spun the wheels on a Friedman head (check that out) with a Tone King cabinet to an approximate JCM Marshall sound.
I was totally disappointed. Too dark. I wasn’t going to wank, and so I just did my through the pups and tones rundown, and was let down.
Sometimes the picture is better than the real thang.
Super nice people.
Sat on the same stool Joe Bonamassa sat on.
Gained no residual skills.
Gave me and my son free T shirts.
I bought picks.
Held a few Les Pauls, just for old times sake.
Wanted to stay but I wasn’t buying anything and the phones never stopped ringing. Didn’t want to be “that guy”.
I think I’m finding out I’m a one guitar guy. It works. I know it. It’s dialed in on my board and amp. LEAVE IT ALONE.

No: but then, you’re obviously not an NRA-head….

Of course, to the gunhumpers, the notion that Travis Reinking, nutcase as he was, might not have simply picked James Shaw (or any other “good guy with a gun”) as the one to shoot first, never seems to occur to them….

Hypothetical scenario: Reinking approaches the Waffle House, firing at people in the parking lot and at the windows. Our noble hero grabs his firearm and opens the door. Before he can take aim, he takes two in the chest and is dead. Woopsy. Guess that wasn’t such a good idea after all.

It is an affront to every American citizen’s 2nd Amendment rights.
It belittles the sacrifice made by all 2nd Amendments & Open/Concealed Carry supporters.
His failure to respond to the deadly situation by either brandishing a weapons and shooting wildly, or to hide, cowering in fear if not armed, while he waits for a real patriot, an armed one, to save him and his fellow unarmed cowards, is in itself an act of reverse racism.

There’s a saying in Traditional Archery - “Beware the man with only one bow.”

Most of us tend to be ‘bow sluts’ we buy a bunch of them, and never settle on just one, which means you never really tune into one bow and really become one with it.

Oh, that sucks! I hate being let down by tone.

But you got a t-shirt, so there’s that. :)

I’ve finally circled all the way around and gotten back to the guitar that started me buying again, 22 years ago (behind the button for those who want to scroll by):

1980 Ibanez Artist, crafted in Japan. I borrowed it from a friend while recording an album in 1991, then spent three years begging him to sell it to me. I finally gave up, then two years later he called me and said he needed cash and did I want to buy the Artist. I was at his house with cash inside of ten minutes.

Probably the most solid guitar I’ve ever played. 22 years and I’ve never even adjusted the action.

I find it funny to see early Clapton using almost all Gibson, and the later Clapton uses Fender. Early Joe Bonamassa used a lot of guitars, but was more fond of Fenders. Now he usually has a Les Paul.
I had a 69 Les Paul forever, until I bought a Strat for my son. Changed me.

Is it really so much the “qualifications” in the Trump Admin, or is it more the problem of finding just the right nominee for the position who will be dedicated (like Scott Pruitt at EPA, or Mike Mulvaney at CFPB) to destroying his/her agencies’ mandate entirely? I realize Republicans in general don’t like “over- (i.e. ANY) regulation” but the Trump regime takes things to a new level of appointing heads of Federal departments/agencies who don’t AFACBD, think said offices should even exist….

I wrote a FB post once about how it was more difficult for me to buy my son’s Adderall than it was to get a gun in Texas.

I have to show ID and get a special prescription at the doctor’s office. First background check.

Have to take prescription to pharmacy with my ID. Second check of me, plus check of my prescription against a database.

Have to show ID to pick it up, including signing for it.

All of this is tracked in a database and checked repeatedly.

If I want a gun I can call my friend down the street and he’ll sell me one of his, no questions asked. Or I can go to a local Houston gun show. If I don’t want to wait, I can drive to the guns and ammo store 5 minutes away. One background check and that AR-15 is mine.

Yay, Texas.

Here we go again with the Calexit shit…

California Secretary of State Alex Padilla (D) announced the ballot proposal’s approval, which would ask the state’s voters in 2020 if they want to discuss declaring independence from the U.S. If the initiative passes, that vote would take place May 4, 2021.

Those in favor of secession have to meet an October deadline to collect 365,880 signatures from registered voters in order to put the measure on the ballot…

Then there’s the sovereign citizens, who want to live in this country but not be subject to any of its laws (unless the law is in their favor, in which case they’re perfectly fine being subject to the law).

I’ve mentioned this before, but I was headed in that direction once upon a time. I subscribed to the whole “nice guys finish last” mantra and spent most of my high school and college years bemoaning the fact that I was never going to find a girl that would date me. Hell, even after I met and eventually married Mrs. Fish, the mindset still kind of stuck with me, and it took a couple of high-profile incidents to eventually break me out of the mold.

I’ve really never felt it but I definitely encountered a lot of guys in the ASD community that do. I will admit to this day that I do sort of have a resentment against guys who can do the whole dating thing without much thought to it. I never fancied myself a “nice guy” though.

No. You’re not. You have good heart and a good soul. You’re a good person. And the time will come when someone will appreciate the you that you are.

I think very highly of you. Many others here do as well.

Everyone has an awkwardness about them in some form. Everyone. Some hide it, some compensate in other ways and mask it, but everyone has it.

I’m very introverted and work where I have to deal with people. I hate it at times. But I call what I do “going into actress mode” and have done that in the many calls I have or when I had to speak in front of hundreds of senior executives. I compensated for my natural self by pretending to be open, friendly and outgoing.

What makes people susceptible is giving up on themselves and letting hatred take over. Then these losers feed on each other’s hatred. And hate begats hate. And it grows and grows.

You care about other people. You wouldn’t do what you do if you didn’t. These people care little for themselves and less for others.

Here’s one of those good stories:

The funeral procession of recently departed Velma Kay Crowe was on the way to the cemetery when they passed Louisiana’s Franklinton Junior High School.

Lynn Bienvenu and her sister Johannah were there to honor their cousin. As they passed, they saw this group of teenagers in the midst of a basketball game stop immediately and take a knee to show “respect and honor to the family that lost a loved one and were grieving.” Some of the young men put their head in their hands.

They were moved beyond words.

They stopped the car to take it in. They took this picture.

Korean Air CEO fires his famously bratty daughters

The CEO of Korean Air Lines has finally fired his two daughters from the company and apologized for their famously bratty behavior.

One of the daughters, Heather Cho, made global headlines in 2014 over the infamous “nut rage” scandal, in which she demanded a Korean Air plane return to its gate at JFK Airport to remove a flight attendant who had served her macadamia nuts in a bag instead of a porcelain bowl.

Last month, her younger sister Emily Cho faced an uproar after she reportedly insulted an advertising executive and threw water in his face.

What was the “but but Obama”? None of President Obama’s nominees and appointees can hold a candle to those of Trump in terms of incompetence and sleaziness. It’s not even close.

Basically he complained that Administrator Jackson did the same things as Pruitt as EPA Admin. Even if so? Wasn’t the whole promise of the Trump campaign that they were going to clean that up? Astorio or whwatever his name is a hack.

James Shaw, the man who took the gun away from the Waffle House shooter, has also raised money for the victims. So Yashar Ali started a GoFundMe for Shaw. It’s already raised $105K of the $100K goal in around a day. Ali says GoFundMe will send the money directly to Shaw.

If President Obama had son, he’d look and be like James.

IIRC the right got really puffy about that while ignoring that the NRA and G Gordon Liddy talked about the same thing more or less.

Hope that ballot fails. The country needs California.

He’s called Lumpy out on this two or three times already. And he manages to do it without sounding hostile, he couches it in a mano a mano thing. Very clever.

Did you know he is an auto racer too?

Racer traits: calculating, good at strategy, cool under pressure and adverse conditions, strong concentration,

Live by simple truths: to finish first, first you must finish, never give up until the race is over, you can’t win on the first lap, let the race come to you don’t overdrive.

He is Cohen, Hannity and Trump’s nightmare. He believes in what he is doing and is not going to go away until he finishes.

How soon will the Dr. Jackson allegations of dispensing drugs and pills and banging on the door of a WH staff to point where a USSS had to intervene in 2015 be dumped on Obama being the culprit for Jackson and his failed nomination to the VA?

Not long now I suppose.

Meanwhile, I could care less what Trump (any of them) wore today. That’s not what bothers me. What bothers me is that Mulvaney explicitly calls for corruption and corrupt practices to shift the levers of power even more firmly into the hands of the wealthy and powerful.

Oh, it’s not exactly corrupt or criminal these days thanks to the Roberts court decision in Citizens United (opening floodgates of money into politics) and the application of the McDonnell case (official acts).

The snow is falling mostly in the South Platte drainage, which downriver is the population centers in Colorado. That drainage is the healthiest with snowpack, though it’s still below average. The snowpack in the San Juan Mountains, which feeds rivers that feed Lake Powell and Lake Mead, is in dire straits, and the snow is melting faster because the snow that is on the ground got coated with a bunch of dust and dirt in a big windstorm last week.

It’s bad.

We do too. This year year, we got the usual “Your President is crazy isn’t he?” questions in the UK and Scotland, but we just responded “And Theresa May?”.

Knowing nudge and wink from the locals. One guy in Scotland laughed out loud and said “They’re both fecking tossers! Let me buy you a pint, yank!”

And they can continue to blame the prior or following administration for all the issues - thus getting re-elected to MAGA.
