Neither does Larry Lindsey:
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy invited former George W. Bush economic adviser Larry Lindsey to give Republican leadership a presentation on the escalating Trump-China trade war. It turned weird when Lindsey took the opportunity to inform the assembled Republicans that he had asked two psychologists to evaluate Trump’s behavior and they came to the same conclusion as most of the rest of the planet.
The professionals found that Trump was a “10 out of 10 narcissist,” Lindsey told the Republicans, according to a GOP aide present at the talk who spoke on the condition of anonymity. The professionals found that Trump was a “10 out of 10 narcissist,” Lindsey told the Republicans, according to a GOP aide present at the talk who spoke on the condition of anonymity
Lindsey apparently didn’t just leave it there, but used it as the tee-off for an unflattering two-minute look into Trump’s psychology.

re: #157 Cheechako
I’m going out on a limb and making a prediction.
There’s been a lot of noise lately about the missing Trump-Russia counter-intel probe. I believe such a probe is being conducted by the FBI. Probably by a super-duper, secret FBI Task Force.
First of all, all the evidence so far indicates that such a probe would be mandated given what we now know.
Second, what we know shows that such an investigation is with-in the purview of the FBI. The FBI is the agency charged investigation of espionage with-in the United States. I even suspect the Director of the FBI (political appointee) or AG are not aware of such an investigation. The core of investigators is probably a group of FBI agents who care more about the well being of the United States than the crooked politicians currently in power.
Third, the issue Trump-Russia contacts are just too big to sweep under the rug. Eventually, someone will get fed up with the situation and become a whistle-blower. Sooner than later I hope.
Fourth, this issue will be the largest nuclear bomb of politics in the United States in our history. A lot of people will be sent to prison when this information comes out.
The dirty politicians will try to convince the public that such an investigation is a coup to overthrow the government. It’s not. It’s how citizens can restore their confidence in their country with an honest and accountable government.
I hope I’m right this time.
My theory which I hope is untrue: There was a counter-intel investigation but it’s gone silent because the Trump DOJ shut it down to protect Trump.

One has to wonder if there is some internal (and relatively secret) system within the FBI to deal precisely with interference with one of those. Especially if triggered by a politically appointed AG. A country’s counterintelligence organization would probably be particularly sensitive to anything that smells of how a foreign agent would act to prevent being discovered.

Thanks, Trump:
Afghanistan’s Taliban and U.S. representatives have held six rounds of peace talks since October in the Gulf state of Qatar, where the group maintains a political office.
While there have been significant steps toward a deal to end the nearly 18 years of war, those diplomatic gains have come with some costs — namely travel costs for the Taliban, according to the spokesman for the Democratic chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense.
Kevin Spicer, the spokesman for Indiana Democrat Pete Visclosky, told Roll Call that the Trump administration asked Congress for funds to cover the Taliban’s costs for transportation, lodging, food and supplies.

The US has claimed that the Iranian Navy has attacked tankers off the shore of the western Persian gulf, within the squadron’s purview.
But the damage to the tankers has been minor.
Very minor. Small holes in their hulls just at and below the waterline. And all of the tankers “attacked” have been empty, waiting to take on cargoes of crude oil. Not in any way lethal to the ships. Easily repaired in shipyards immediately nearby.
Who has the capacity and security to launch practice torpedoes, without warheads, at ships waiting to load crude oil in that area of the Gulf, causing minor damage, pay for the repairs, and blame a third party?
Hmmm…

There were three million-dollar winners but none played the “multiplier” (something we don’t have here in California.)
MM jackpot is creeping up to real money category once again, so expect it to be in the news.
Speaking lotteries, I see that, once again, the HGTV show My Lottery Dream Home featured not a lottery winner but a professional poker player.
Thing is, he didn’t win that much money (about $300k). And furthermore, he’s a house flipper, so it seems strange that he would have asked David to come help him find a house. Anyway, he and his young wife went out shopping for $500k+ houses, which was more than his big poker win, which begs the question as to what this TV show is really about. It’s turned into just another version of HGTV’s House Hunters.
Perhaps people who win lotteries are becoming more shy about announcing such to the world on TV. Professional pokers players, OTOH, are “sports” celebs so they probably don’t mind a little extra TV exposure.

Most of us here knew that “conservative” was just a play, a way of coming up with a word that was not as obvious as “bigot” or “authoritarian”.
I wonder how long it will take for the great masses to accept the revelation of what “conservative” really means in American lingo.

I agree entirely.
Meanwhile, in Uganda:
An American pastor from New Jersey backed by a British former clairvoyant is running a network that gives up to 50,000 Ugandans a “miracle cure” made from industrial bleach, claiming drinking the toxic fluid eradicates cancer, HIV/Aids, malaria and most other diseases.
The network, led by pastor Robert Baldwin and part-funded by Sam Little from Arlesey in Bedfordshire, is one of the most extensive efforts yet to distribute the “miracle cure” known as MMS, or “miracle mineral solution”. The Guardian has learned that poor Ugandans, including infants as young as 14 months old, are being given chlorine dioxide, a product that has no known health benefit and can be extremely dangerous.
Baldwin, 52, is importing bulk shipments of the components of MMS, sodium chlorite and citric acid, into Uganda from China. The two chemicals are mixed to produce chlorine dioxide, a powerful bleach used in the textile industry.
The American pastor has “trained” about 1,200 clerics in Uganda on administering the “miracle cure” and each in turn uses it to treat about 50 congregants, usually after Sunday service. As an inducement, Baldwin is offering smartphones to those clerics who are especially “committed” to spreading the bleach cure.
The MMS woowoo is going global - and most likely, with entirely predictable disastrous consequences.

Now, what normally happens during a sale event (like a Steam sale) is that the publishers or developers opt in, and they set the discounts. What Epic is doing however, is something very different.

MMS is sold mostly as woo to cure autism here in the US. It’s known about and not a lot has been done to stop it. There’s a “church” (called genesis 2 , I think ?)that uses this shit as sacrament and curatives. Google Kerri Rivera sometime too. Yikes. How many little kids have been tortured with this shit? Because anything is better than autism to WAY too many people. It’s why people don’t vaccinate their kids EVEN WHEN THEY WERE VACCINATED AS KIDS. Mean and dumb is what’s gonna kill us all. What can we do really?

Perhaps, but that is a photo taken by MrsJ some time ago at a local shelter where she was a volunteer. I’ve set my Windows background to photo and pointed it at a pictures folder on my NAS. This one popped up on my screen when I booted today and I decided to share it. The kitteh was soon after adopted out.

I continue to believe that the principal reason Trump won’t release his tax returns is that banks which lent him money will have absolute proof that he lied through his teeth about his income and assets on loan documents, which is fraud.

I believe many of the banks that are sitting on his debt suspect he lied through his teeth, but they have no solid proof and thus cannot move forward with litigation. Which is what he’s scared shitless of, the banks suing to get back what they can before he runs to a bankruptcy court to gain protection.

I get the temptation. Sometimes you’ve so satisfyingly constructed a takedown in your own head and the world just won’t cooperate by presenting the issue on your terms. That’s why everyone needs an editor who says “Either justify this as a reasonable example or quit being lazy.”

Every generation has had their parents/grandparents bitching about how “kids these days” don’t work hard enough/aren’t being “responsible”/aren’t acting like adults/etc. Hell, I already hear the first grumblings of Millenial parents doing the same bitching about their own kids, how they keep their heads buried in their smartphones all the time, they don’t go out to play “like we used to,” they want everything handed to them, and other mutterings older than the fucking hills.

And I’m equally tired of old men who wax poetic about the good old days where you could say this and ignore the censorship that existed in those days.
I hope some third party starts manufacturing the most-damage-and-wear-prone components of the Model 3 and Model S, then. Because I see no way that those stats don’t lead to an orphaned marque by November unless Geely or Ford buy them out, and Ford doesn’t want more sedans.

Banks hire forensic accountants. Should they want to know… Apathy and privilege. Not their money when lost.
I could probably write a book about all the things my parents and grandparents still believe is true in the 21st century. One of my favorites was being told during those periods when I was jobless to just go down to the local businesses and ask to speak to the manager. And then, after you filled out an application, call them back and ask if they’d had a chance to look at it yet.
No amount of explaining to them that even in 2004, most businesses were already moving to electronic applications that got sent to corporate and then passed down to the managers on an “as-need” basis broke them of that belief.
Don’t see the point of attacking everyone, but I’m me.

The Executive would likely retain every bit of the stolen power it now has. Muslims would still be in for persecution; Latinx would be a grey area. PERHAPS people with a uterus might be returned to having primary control over their bodies, but even IT is debatable.

So after the first paid week’s vacation I’ve had…well, ever, I can say I am truly an example of modern Millenials. Of the seven days I took off, only one of them involved anything constructive and another involved making a trip to a place I’d been considering going for ages. The other five? Seeing just lazy I could be while maintaining a minimum level of hygiene.

Yep
The fact that the “Democrats For Trump” bit is trending will lead to two things: The media convinced that this means that there’s some splinter movement in the Dem base that’s looking to support a Trump reelection…and the same media totally ignoring that the majority of the retweets are of Dems laughing their asses off that anybody takes such a thing seriously.

Well they’re the offspring of the George Wallace Democrats. People forget that Wallace ran against LBJ in the 1964 primaries and racked up a high number of votes in Maryland, Indiana, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
