Like the saying about health insurance, it’s better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. Wonder if these fools think having to carry insurance for any purpose is Nazi Germany too?

Re: Carolyn Gombell / Justice for Carolyn

“Best we can tell, “God” has sarcastically posted this “Carolyn Gombell” story in order to demonstrate that anyone can accuse anyone of anything until Twitter clamps down on the false murder accusations that Donald Trump keeps spewing. The kicker is that even though most observers appear to understand that Carolyn Gombell isn’t even real, the hashtag #JusticeForCarolyn is already trending atop Twitter, as everyone sarcastically demands that her “murder” be investigated.”

That comes from a website called The Palmer Report.

Just remember, The Palmer Report is only slightly more credible than Infowars.

That makes me believe:
That Twitter account actually is God.
Carolyn Gombell is actually real.
#JusticeForCarolyn is not actually trending on Twitter.

Lightning. Thunder is ok as long as we’re inside. I am going to make some heavier curtains for our bedroom so she has a place to hide from it. She’s an odd one. Doesn’t bark when she hears neighbor dogs barking, but when she sees a doggie she kinda loses her shit. We got her late in her first year, she’s missed socializing and other issues because of isolation. We got work to do. She’s 14 months old now, and big. I’d guess 90-100 lbs now.

Oh, interesting that lightening bothers her but not thunder. Frankly, the lightening is an easier fix. Teddy hates thunder, but he’s small enough that I can just hug him real tight to calm him down. Luckily, we live where there’s not the big thunderstorms of my childhood in PA.

Lessons from Nebraska that show how progressive candidates can win (Goes to the Washington Post)

Two years ago I wrote about what Kara Eastman’s victory in the Democratic primary for Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District meant for the party. Eastman’s narrow win, without the support of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), was “stunning,” I said. “If there is to be a Democratic wave, it is outside insurgents such as Eastman who will drive it.”

This month, Eastman took 62 percent of the primary vote, about double the share of her next-closest competitor. Her landslide victory is a story of persistence. Eastman lost in the 2018 general election, but she rebounded from that and her DCCC snub. This time, with the help of the DCCC and the backing of Emily’s List and other groups, she has a real shot at winning in November — despite the pandemic, the economic crisis and the fact that Nebraska remains a deeply red state.

Two cats got out today while I was cleaning stuff - wind blew the door open I guess.

Tuxedo Cat wandered about a bit and then came in again on her own. (She got out yesterday and wandered about with me watching. Even went and checked out the neighbor across the courtyard’s grilling as he was setting up. No issues and no complaints.)

Chat Noir crept out and I sort of followed him about. He usually doesn’t wander far and he mainly walked around sniffing stuff. (Neighbor’s door was closed so Spencer and Sara were inside.) Worked his way down to the other neighbor’s plants and bird feeders. Didn’t give the feeders much of a look but sniffed about the shrubs, plants, and patio.

At about this time Sara suddenly came down the sidewalk and meowed at me. (She chased Tuxedo Cat a few days back.) Sara walked a bit past me and then spotted Chat Noir and got a bit tense. She approached him, he noticed her, they sniffed noses, there were a few louder meows and then Sara went back up the sidewalk and just laid down on it. Not buddies, but Sara appears to not want to mess with Chat Noir.

Caught Chat Noir a little bit later and took him inside for a snack and some pets. His kidney issues are still there and I haven’t hit upon any method that might help him put any weight back on. The running challenge is figuring out what spot he is hiding in to sleep most of the day - it shifts around from a location in the basement through various nooks elsewhere in the house.

Chester County, PA COVID-19 stats:*
Confirmed cases: 2,497
Deaths: 241

All numbers subject to change since they seem to back change the data on a daily basis now. The past weekend the updates indicated very few new positive tests (6 for two days). Today it’s 21 for those two days.

Three townships and one borough where over 1% of the pop has been confirmed infected. One township is at 1.68%. Another five townships or boroughs with it at 0.7% or higher.

The top 5 in order of percentage infected also account for about half the deaths as well.

I might have to check my local CVS out. I get my prescriptions filled there, but the last couple of refills I’ve had delivered instead of going in to pick them up.

I think the dry cleaners around here might be open as well, but would need to check closer to confirm. Can’t tell by parking lot since the two near me are both adjacent to restaurants that I know are open (for take out at least).

Today’s conservatives have a very hard time understanding the idea of constitutionally protected Free Speech. During the 2008 election, Sarah Palin would infuriate me when she went off about her freedom of speech. Every time she opened her pie-hole, I’d send another $50 to Obama. Close to the election, I was financially tapped out. So, I printed off a copy of the Constitution, highlighted the first amendment, suggested that she might like to read it, and mailed it to her campaign headquarters. In the grand scheme of things, it did nothing but lower my blood pressure.

Wyo., Nebr., and the Panhandle sites also show that you cannot easily compare states or parts of states.

Without a federal standard about what should be reported and what shouldn’t, states and public health districts are only reporting what they seem to think is important.

I can cull some things from the sites (like doubling rates), but I do not have the expertise to make comparisons between states or districts.

Rick Wilson is in on the trolling

Shades of this LOL

Beck v. Eiland-Hall is a case filed in 2009 before the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a United Nations agency. It was filed by political commentator Glenn Beck against Isaac Eiland-Hall, concerning the website
GlennBeckRapedAndMurderedayounggirlin1990.com . Eiland-Hall created the site as a parody to express the view that Beck’s commentary style challenged his guests to prove a negative. The site’s name was based on a joke first used by comedian Gilbert Gottfried at the 2008 Comedy Central Roast of Bob Saget, in which Gottfried jokingly implored listeners to disregard the (non-existent) rumor that Saget had raped and murdered a girl in 1990. Online posters began an Internet meme comparing Gottfried’s joke with Beck’s style of debate, by requesting Beck disprove he had committed the act in question. Eiland-Hall launched his website on September 1, 2009. en.wikipedia.org
