Hmmmm wondering what would happen if The Two Stooges won their elections and were indicted for insider trading by Joe’s justice department????

Then we get to go through the entire mess with Kemp appointing their replacements. He chose Loeffler, hand picked her himself, the fact that he could do worse than her is terrifying.

Wonder if the team of SEC investigators looking into Loeffler’s insider-trading activities “suddenly” found themselves reassigned, or downsized in one of those “internal reorganizations” the Trump Administration seems so fond of….

Nothing new about that. I remember back in the 60s the Birch Church in town called Rev. King a Communist and the Pulpit Pimp of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church said that the Civil Rights movement was controlled by Moscow. The Pimp endorsed George Wallace running against LBJ in the 1964 Pennsylvania Democratic Primary and he almost got elected as a convention delegate.

Also - if you didn’t read the credits at the end of the tune, go back and check them out, they’re pretty funny.

One of my other loves is poetry. I am currently reading a delightful translation of the classic Chinese compilation Poems of the Masters.

Two by a relative unknown:

“Looking for a recluse without success”

Below the pines I ask the boy
He says his master has gone to find herbs
He’s somewhere on this mountain
But the clouds are too thick to know where

“The Swordsman”

For 10 years I have been polishing this sword
It’s frosty edge has never been put to the test
Now I am holding it and showing it to you, sir,
Is there anyone suffering from injustice?

Also, this is the longest weekend in the history of the world.
(Except for a few years ago when we didn’t have Thanksgiving until the following weekend because of a family member’s schedule. That one was equally long.)
I never go out shopping Thanksgiving weekend because I’m not crazy about crowds and this weekend it’s only more so. So, if you don’t spend the Thursday cooking and eating with family, and Friday happily recovering, then, by Sat. it’s time for the world to start moving again in earnest, but the weekend is just beginning.

Hey, quick question if you’re still here:

I cannot get this site to run on Safari on my iPad. iPhone, fine. iMac, fine.

I keep getting the “A problem repeatedly occurred…” error. It’s happening to a handful of other sites in addition to yours. This seems to be an ongoing issue with iOS Safari. In fact, pages that claim to have the fix will often crash as well.

I’ve tried:

• Emptying cache and history
• Turning off Safari’s Smart Suggestion, or whatever it’s called
• Using both mobile and desktop versions of the site
• Turning off Javascript

Nothing seems to help. If I restart the iPad, the problem goes away for a little bit, but eventually comes back. I’m running iPadOS 14.1, I think.

Do you or anyone else here run into this or have any suggestions, other than switching to Chrome?

The thing about Dirty Loops is they are no doubt contemporary pop but there is so much going layered in it’s foundation. They could Jazz or Prog melt you face effortlessly. But I also hear nuances of old skool R&B in there. Reminds me of my kiddo summers in Suburban Whitesville, listening to black R&B radio, hearing ‘Rock the Boat’ as I kept diving into the pool and Mom yelling at me to not dive in the pool. I hear that in DL.

What keeps me up at night is that McConnell and other non-insane Republicans are dissecting this whole mess to make sure they don’t make the same mistakes next time.

Like I said, it’s not just LGF. This happens on other sites as well. It’s been driving me up an effing wall mostly because it’s not happening on my iPhone. You’d think that since both devices’ OSs share the same code base, they’d both be experiencing this.

What keeps going through my mind with the constant “Throw out the election because the only way Trump could have lost is by cheating” is that if Trump and his clown car were the slightest bit competent, there’s a good chance they’d have pulled the whole fucking coup off.

What keeps me up at night is that McConnell and other non-insane Republicans are dissecting this whole mess to make sure they don’t make the same mistakes next time.

It’s been said by smarter people than me already, but Republicans, both voter and politician, got a tase of fascism and decided they want more of it. A lot more. And they have a roadmap now on how to get there.

Yeah, there is a long term arc here that can’t be ignored: they’re testing the system for breaks, using their power to weaken the system, then testing again. McConnell’s been talking about “permanent majority” in Congress for a long time with very little pushback. The idea of sham democracy…where most people’s votes are made not to count, so that the outcomes result in their side winning far more, and having an easier time making their decisions stick…has been in the offing for decades.

If you look at the way conservatives are attempting to game abortion, you can see the same methodology at work.

I’d argue that the fascism has been in the nation all along. The racial theories that informed the South, but also westward expansion and our colonial phase…well, they fit very comfortably into Eco’s ur-fascist criterion. This has been a long time in the offing.

This right here is why there MUST be consequences. Big time consequences; jail time, massive fines, etc.

You can be sure Republicans are already coming up with battle plans meant to throw huge wrenches into as many future elections as possible raising immediate concern about their validity. What we are witnessing is a test run to see how to actually In real life fuck up our elections. This is full-on Treason against most of the US population in order to build a South Africa-style political system rigged highly in favor of white supremacy.

The next elections will be more or less openly fraudulent purposely to cast doubt on having elections at all. Republicans are already grooming the next authoritarians who will be much less vulgar and repulsive than Trump. We already see a few who skillfully play the memes and subtle symbology of white supremacism all the while denying any involvement with Nazi ideology. This next generation of young Republicans will try their best to fuck up democracy with lies, false information, election tampering, nudge-nudge understood memes, and we must remain vigilant.

The willingness of the Trump administration to hang its friends and allies out to dry is a blight on America. It may take decades to for America to recover its reputation.

Bush 41 abandoned the Kurds after the first Gulf War until there was so much pushback that he reconsidered. So leaving allies out to dry seems a GOP thing. But it’s not possible to shame Trump into doing the right thing.

You miss the point that to the GOP base, Trump being a vulgar and repulsive idiot was why they liked him so much. They don’t want a smooth talking efficient fascist like O’brien or Reinhard Heydrich they want a loudmouth idiot who makes them feel better about themselves.

Someone smarter than Trump might have not had as many defections, but they also wouldn’t have juiced the base the way that Trump did.

Remember Trump beat a huge field of GOP competitors expressly because he was willing to say it louder and cruder than any of them. They may be able to create a smart fascist, but the primary crowd will vote for a stupid one.

Health care leaders develop plan for Nebraska’s hospitals potentially becoming overwhelmed

The statement emphasized that Nebraska is not at a point in which the plan would need to be activated, although the number of people hospitalized with COVID has more than doubled in a month. As of Thursday, they accounted for about 23% of hospital patients.

The plan is a triage plan. Pete Ricketts is still opposing a mask mandate (or any other mandate really).

Like everything else, death panels were Republican projection.

146
Anymouse 🌹🏡😷  Nov 28, 2020 • 2:38:19pm

Those with the best chances would get the highest priority for care. All patients would get basic care and supportive counseling.

The plan, which was based on a Massachusetts model, specifically bars the use of other factors, including a person’s disability, in deciding who gets care.

Factors to be ignored include “race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, ability to pay, socioeconomic status, English language proficiency, perceived social worth, perceived quality of life, immigration status, incarceration status, homelessness or past or post-emergency user of resources.”

147
Anymouse 🌹🏡😷  Nov 28, 2020 • 2:43:16pm

The governor explicitly says he will not back or support any such plans, claiming he does not have the power to do so.

Hospitals and public health districts claim state support for a triage plan is necessary because:

a) a universal statewide plan would hold everyone to the same standard
b) it would prevent lawsuits when hospitals have to set up overflow beds in classrooms or parking lots.

The Republican Genocide continues in my state.

One of the ranchers on the wrong end of this federal lawsuit is from around here (Llewellyn).

A federal lawsuit seeking more than $500,000 in damages has been filed against the owners and operators of a Sandhills ranch who have been accused of letting cattle starve rather than graze them.

According to records in the U.S. District Court-District of Nebraska, Three Forks Ranch, which operates a lodge and working cattle ranch about 40 miles north of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, on the Colorado-Wyoming border, has sued Derek Schwanebeck and Lesa Schwanebeck, who reside in Ellsworth, Nebraska, and John C. Odom, of Lewellen. The Schwanebecks run a grazing business, Cornerstone Grazing in the Sandhills region, and Odom is the business’ only employee.

In April 2020, according to the suit, Three Forks Ranch and the Schwanebecks entered into a contract, with the Schwanebecks agreeing to graze 603 bred cows and 22 bulls during the summer 2020 grazing season. The contract was slated to end on Nov. 12, at which time Three Forks intended to sell the bred cows to a third party.

The Schwanebecks use a grazing technique called “intensive rotational grazing,” according to the lawsuit, where livestock are rotated between pastures so only a single, defined area is grazed at a time. The lawsuit claims that intensive rotational grazing requires more management and supervision than traditional grazing as overgrazing can quickly occur if a rancher fails to timely rotate the livestock.

“Overgrazing leads to barren pastures, which can lead to starvation if supplemental food (e.g., hay) is not available.”

Three Forks says in its lawsuit that cattle were delivered in April 2020 and were in excellent condition. The bred cows began birthing their calves a few weeks later. In July 2020, several Three Forks employees traveled to the Schwanebecks pastures to inspect, vaccinate and brand the baby calves. They branded about 575 calves, all described as being vibrant and healthy. At the time, pastures were described as being in good shape with adequate forage.

From June to August, the suit says, Derek Schwanebeck assured Three Forks personnel that its cattle were doing well. However, on Sept. 2, Derek Schwanebeck contacted the Three Forks head of cattle operation and told him several calves were dead and blamed a “disease outbreak.” Personnel immediately traveled to Nebraska, where they allege they observed over 20 dead calves in the pasture that the cows were crazing. They doctored 46 calves with antibiotics, but quickly realized that the cattle were “extremely malnourished, having been deprived of nearly all food.”

Eighty-seven calves and twelve cows died of starvation.

What’s amazing is the MAGAts in the audience are calling Kemp corrupt because he didn’t fight to nullify legally cast votes, probably over half being from Black people.

That is is their definition of “corrupt”. Let that sink in for a moment or two.

That was kind of the point of Jim Crow and the Southern Strategy.

I wonder what health insurance companies will have to say once the figures start coming out. They tend to look poorly on people who willingly indulge in risky behavior, including, for example, refusing to take a vaccine for a highly contagious and potentially deadly disease.

All up US-24 in central Illinois were signs saying, “PRITZKER SUCKS”. (Usually paired with Trump-Pence 2020 “KEEP AMERICA GREAT” signs… I don’t imagine that to be a coincidence). I wanted to rip down every goddamn one of them, but there were… several.

Just as the corrupted court let states block Medicaid expansion they sent a green light to churches to kill more of what they consider the “excess population”.

The corrupted court won’t stop there. They will force their radical Catholic views on everyone. Just watch what happens to those Pulpit Pimp Preachers when the Court turns on them. It’s going to happen.

Did I or did I not say that the timeliness would be the key issue that killed this lawsuit? You can’t have your cake and eat it too; if you’re going to challenge a law, you need to do it right away, not after you have benefited from it and now your opponents are about to.

Not really very nice. In legal-speak, these clowns just got taken out behind the woodshed. Like, that was severe, as severe as any opinion I’ve ever read issued against one of these lawsuits - including the Rudy Giuliani clown show that had such celebrated gems of judgely smackdown.

If the PA Commonwealth Court’s allowing for the preliminary injunction counts, it would be 3 for 39, I think. Not sure how to count that one as it wasn’t a complete victory, but none of them really have been.

“When I use a word,” Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less.” “The question is,” said Alice, “whether you can make words mean so many different things.” “The question is,” said Humpty Dumpty, “which is to be master—that’s all.”

I think Republicans are going to run into a problem with Biden, and I hope Democrats are ready to take advantage of it. He’s a straight spoken white man with the kind of background that other whites can find common cause with. But he can show those same whites that diversity is a strength not a weakness. I’ve said it before, but I hope he does a number of press conferences where he challenges the reporters to question him better and answers the real questions straight.

When it is all boiled down, “Elitist” in modern Conservative nomenclature is associated with anyone taking stock in accredited, peer-reviewed science. And that’s about it.

Pete Wilson destroyed the GOP in California. With the exception of Ah-Nold (the WORST Governor I experienced) Republicans can’t come close to winning a major statewide election. Wilson totally alienated Hispanics and Asian-American voters with his 1994 campaign to cut off all aid to illegal aliens. Thanks to Pete Wilson the GOP shriveled up to the point it’s now the 3rd Party in California behind “Decline To State”.

Note how the GOP learned that lesson and played the anti-Communist and Macho Man cards to increase their share of Latino vote this time. It still only got them in the teens…a far cry from Dumbya’s 43% in 2004…

Fundies practice a little thing called Dominionism, and one of its most fucked expressions is its treatment of animals. Most ranchers are fundies.

Had this guy not been out money for cattle, the long-suffering cattle themselves were not important. This isn’t about animal abuse, it’s about monetary losses. It’s a business deal gone south.

They fight tooth and nail to treat their animals shitty behind closed doors. Look up ag-gag lawsuits. Uh huh.
