Hope you all are watching this on PBS. Really good.

None of these primetime Fox assholes, right-wing talk radio assholes or social media assholes on the right or the left deserve a moment of our attention. They add nothing of value to the public discourse.

The fact that we can talk about normal stuff and not focus on the depravities and criminality of the previous WH occupant is refreshing. We can do an entire thread on wineries and good wines to drink and not worry that the WH occupant will launch a nuke to deflect from his other criminal malfeasance in a snit.
Adults are in the room, and we’re getting the government we have long deserved.
While we outlasted Trump, there are more than 400,000+ Americans who lost their lives to covid and we need to keep their memories in our hearts and use that as a motivator to future action and protecting all Americans from threats -foreign and domestic. We need to make sure that we put people first, not that millionaires and billionaires who will profit no matter what happens to the economy.
I can sleep better tonight (and not just because I’m polishing off a bottle of Cline Old Vines Zin) because the adults are in charge - President Biden and VP Harris.
It doesn’t mean that I will always agree with their policies. But I expect that they will have policy and be able to defend their positions with credible information and not simply spew vaporware/malware as prior admin did. I expect that the new admin will actually put together substantive policies and act on them, knowing how govt works and operate within the bounds of the law.
And that’s not mere minimum here. It’s a reminder of just how incompetent, corrupt, and cruel the prior admin was.

It’s also a testament to our resilience. We just slogged our way through four hard years of relentless abuse, anguish, terror, and heartbreak. We survived a nightmare that did cause many people legitimate mental damage (I wonder what the suicide rate looks like during the Trump administration as opposed to previous years). He’s been out of the picture for barely 12 hours and yet here we are, talking about wine and enjoying good music.

I’m off to bed. I am emotionally worn out, for a good reason for a change. Just like that, our government once again works for decency. The Reign of Error could not derail it, and the coup attempt on January 6 was the dying reaction of those who would destroy us; they go to jail and the rest of us move forward.

Things happen and things are known. Sometimes those things don’t come out for awhile, but they eventually do. People knew how terrible Ellen was for years, but she had enough money to make thing go away. Then too many people knew too much and started talking. And then things got more open. Then there was a lawsuit. Then EVERYTHING came out.
I suspect the same thing will happen with Corden. It’s already fairly open knowledge.

It’s actually worse than that, for the Qultists. See, here’s the thing: Those of us back then feared what Trump was going to do, because we knew who he was, but we were still grounded in reality. We knew the rules of the game, we knew what the facts were, even if we didn’t like them. The Qultists fear the unknown; their alternate reality has been broken, they don’t know who to trust or where to turn or what to think. Yes, but the adults are back in charge, and I have confidence they will do everything in their power to ramp up vaccination.
Since the Clownstick Regime did absolutely nothing, in fact they did worse than nothing. They actively undermined the entire response to COVID. Everything on that front should be better now.
Fuck *I* could have done a better job on this subject than those Sopranos rejects.

He’s already started off on the right foot. He signed two executive orders today, one mandating masks on federal property and by federal employees, and one creating a White House Coronavirus Adviser and giving them permission to coordinate across departments to get whatever resources they need to do the job right, as far as is possible by executive order (i.e. zero budget, no changes to law, etc.)

I have no earthly idea how we can even respond to that. Didn’t see the flag? Um, there were about five hanging there.
And it’s my country, too.

I said the same thing to the spouse earlier today.
They had months to come up with a plan. Any plan. Other than selling the vaccine reserves to the highest bidder they didn’t do shit.
And for that alone they all should rot in prison.

True. Most of the time. He did have a few moments of derp though.

In the meantime, here in the wild north country, we have liberals marching in Minneapolis for Biden to enact a “People’s Agenda”.

That would have been amazing. Especially since they heavily implied he survived, stole Paulie’s car and got away.

I agree, but they have been left with less than shit.
The signals given to all levels of State governments have been, at best, chaotic. No one right now knows whether to shit or go blind.
As an example, what kind of documentation will each individual who receives the vaccine (twice) receive? Keep in mind, it has got be able to pass international travel muster.
What, you are going to put all that into a readily accessible database? Who owns it? Who proofs the data? Who gets access? It’s got to track 330 Million people.
So let’s be clear, the logistics challenge is just breathtaking. We need to manufacture, distribute, track, and document two thirds of a Billion doses of vaccine with a period of effectiveness that is not yet known.
We may have to do this every six months for the foreseeable future.
I don’t care if you are adults or not (and adults with usable skills are surely better), but this is one bitch-kitty of a problem with plenty of places where the bunny can get stuck inside the snake, shutting the system down.

If at any point, for any reason, you are claiming you want revenge not justice, you have lost any moral authority you have and are officially the “bad guys” (guys is general neutral in this context).
The Venn Diagram for justice and revenge overlaps somewhat, but calling for revenge is basically calling for blood.

On the other hand, providing a full measure of justice for Trump and the Republicans would involve thousand of criminal cases, most carrying heavy legal penalties.
Especially if the obvious step of a RICO investigation of the GOP and related entities is taken.
We’ll be lucky to get any justice at all, especially vs. Trump and other rich GOP perps.
I won’t worry about the left mistaking revenge for justice until after I’ve seen a few senior Republicans staked out over fire ant nests.

Loved the show. Loved. Think they should do it this way even when the pandemic is over. It is a show for all. My one criticism is that Tom Hanks seemed kind of flat. maybe that’s what they wanted, but it seemed really low energy. YMMV.
