First they came for the tax cheats, but I wasn’t a tax cheat so I didn’t speak up,

Then they came for the sub-prime mortgage crooks, but I wasn’t a sub-prime mortgage crook, so I didn’t speak up.

Then they came for the junk bond hucksters, but I wasn’t a junk bond hucksters so I didn’t speak up.

Then they came for the fawning sycophants, and there was noone left to speak up for me.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott has used a famous quote about the Nazis and the Holocaust to explain his disregard for the current political attack culture.

The governor said other “candidates (shouldn’t) attack people in business.” He paraphrased a well-known Martin Niemoller saying that is often referred to as the “First They Came For…” quote.

Scott later explained he used the Niemoller quote to make the point that capitalism should always be defended.
