Here’s the problem with your analogy, reclaiming Pepe is frivolous at best. It accomplishes nothing beyond a meaningless and literally symbolic victory.

I’ll take every symbolic victory over racism I can get.

Too bad Christians don’t try to take back their symbol from the racists that promote it. Perhaps they should abandon the cross, since racists burn it on people’s lawn and justify their bigotry with it.

After all, it would only be a symbolic victory; surely Christians can use a different symbol (or holy book since that is used the same way)
