It can be so hard. I do wish the best for your friend and their family. From what I saw of what you posted yesterday, you were very kind to them all things considered. I see conservatives cry all the time about how “mean” the left is to them. I really want to be able to understand why my conservative friends and family feel the way they do but then they post something racist, sexist, homophobic, or whatever and I just lose my patience. I love my one conservative friend like a brother but I want to smack him when he posts bigoted bulshit.

I’ve gotta scrape together sixty bucks so I can subscribe properly here… this place and the people who populate it is such a gem of sanity and goodwill in a world gone mad.

I try really hard not to engage in political FB because it never ends very well - but the “animals” thing gets me so righteously angry. My wife’s family lost people in the Holocaust, and I grew up as an American Jew in the 70s learning that we had to do everything in our power to make sure “never again” was a reality. And now to see the slippery slope extending ahead of us…. it makes you want to scream.
