I would feel better if our electoral system were more robust and less vulnerable to interference and manipulation. We have had every chance to fix it since the 2000 debacle but have lacked the political will to do so.

Our electoral system is no more secure than most democracies, vulnerable to external as well as internal interference and manipulation in any given year. But it’s something we accept because the partisan nature of elections means one party always assumes the other will rewrite the rules in their favor if given the opportunity.
