Preach brother! One of the issues is no one, political candidate or any completely unrelated commercial, is allowed to get any kind of deal regardless of time/station/availability. When the company wants a contract or they have a lot of open commercial slots they’ll cut their rates just to get what cash they can. When “political season” kicks in (the start date is mandated by the FCC) they have to go through every slot sold during a time period, find the highest paying customer and everyones rates have to match that number.

I almost understand the rule that no political related commercial should get a better deal than another but why should Toyota have to pay extra just to run a “hey, sorry about that runaway car we sold you” commercial that’s completely unrelated to anything involving politics.
