Point defense lasers. Who cares how expensive or what collateral damage they could do, just imagine a 787 with frickin’ lasers on it!

THIS IS ACTUALLY A THING! Unfortunately, all they do is dazzle the sensors of heat-seeking missiles.

Defending against something like SA-11/SA-17 will be ten million dollars per airframe, please and thank you, and no guarantees it’ll always get you home.
