What about the ongoing refusal by the administration to allow dredging to build artificial barrier islands? In the face of an emergency, such steps that insult the environment are like backfires. Undesirable seen in isolation, but a necessary evil under the circumstances.

I’m not sure, I have to admit I haven’t been following the story as closely as others. There was a claim about the feds not allowing a certain type of boom to be used. It ended up being because they were defective and didn’t work properly. There are many concerns but it’s a mistake to jump to conclusions. Let this thing play out and I’m sure there will be plenty of legitimate blame to pass around to all those involved. Trying to jump in too early is probably not going to score big political points. We haven’t even capped the well yet. There’s much more to come.
