My brother-in-law is a decent, upstanding police officer in a decent, upstanding community with little history of police abuse. He doesn’t understand that there are places in this country where hating black people is a job requirement to be on the police force. Even in the relatively mild downtown environs of the Twin Cities, we have had racially charged officer-involved incidents.
