During my time in Japan I was stunned by the high quality of goods and especially the very high quality of craftsmanship displayed by everyday crafts people.

We had two earthquakes here this morning. No buildings fell down. That is an accomplishment, due in no small part by having buildings fall down in the past! But the A-frame 2x4 wood house is hardly a new innovation.
Sorry, but if you are somehow unhappy with German quality it does not follow that America must be the land of great quality.
