Because they know, like the Old Money in NYC, that Trump is an empty suit, and an ill-fitted suit at that. He will never get the kind of respect he wants, because he does nothing to deserve that respect. At best, he might command some fear from those around him, but the rich and the powerful cannot be swayed so easily.

Both groups see the same thing: A con man who thinks that a few gaudy trinkets indicates wealth and success. He’s the rich man’s version of trailer trash.
