If it were apathy, there wouldn’t be so many “other” outlets for information. People who have the time and inclination to learn more than is offered on TV seem to be a profitable market.

I think that the role of TV news has changed.

I don’t mean for everyone (obviously we’re here and we both read a lot), but generally speaking, when you have very low turnout in elections, and news becomes infotainment, the number of people who have that inclination to know what’s going on in their world are lower than those who are happy following the every move of Kim Kardashian or Katy Perry.
