I remember that idea as being one of the few things Milton ever said that made sense. I think this would be a better way to do it than have to figure out how far under a baseline someone is. Just do an automatic payment into every person’s bank account once a month, perhaps on the SSI schedule?
A great number of people don’t have bank accounts.
Children generally can’t get bank accounts.
Could solve that by restarting the Postal Savings Bank.
Makes you wonder … if they weren’t there to fight when things got tough… what WERE they there for?
