I think a lot of that land along that stretch of the Mississippi is pure sand. A farmer friend of mine wasn’t impressed when we took a drive around Lake Pepin.

I was about to argue but the guy I knew was up on top of the bluffs. That may well make huge difference. Still, one can look at what the plow turns and get a fast fucking clue. Now there are huge chunks of Wisconsin that aren’t worth a shit for farming because of the acidic soil pine likes but shit, he was a special kind of incompetent. Also I do think the daughter was far worse than Laura from what I’ve read.
