Have you seen a doctor recently about your ankle? Restorative surgeries have progressed in the past decade, so something might be doable nowadays.

The ankle was broken in 2004. The next time that I obtained insurance was in 2007, I went to an orthopedist and had xrays where they discovered the remodeled fracture. Meanwhile I developed arthritis in both ankles, but it’s much worse in the ankle that was broken.

I have a brace and I take paid meds (allergic to ibuprofen, though), not considering surgery at this point.
