one thing that Europeans do that still drives me dippy is to measure gasoline consumption (can’t call it mileage as they don’t use miles) in liters per 100 km.

Our Smart used to use 3.4 liters.

My current Citroen uses more than twice that but seats five people and has room to transport things like bicycles, washing machines and multiple musical instruments.

They do the same in Canada.

When in Saskatchewan, I sometimes get questions such as “what’s the fuel economy of that thing” and I’ll respond with something like “eighty kilometres for four litres” or “twenty kilometres per litre.” That gets quizzical looks and “what’s that in litres per hundred kilometres?”
