I’ve come to the conclusion after a great deal of thought (I was a religion major in college, after all) that religion is merely the effort of the finite to limit the infinite, especially among the monotheistic faiths. Most of them are about defining what or who God isn’t rather than trying to understand what having faith really means in a world that makes it increasingly difficult to buy the fairy tales peddled by the literalists.
