It’s an incredibly low number that gets you into the top 1%. The incredibly low number in that article is what income level it takes to get into top 50% of
income about 34k. Even including home equity, I’d be surprised that most people have more than a couple hundred thousand. There are a lot of people with nothing for retirement savings.Edit: That should be 34k AGI.
Both sets of numbers are low. I at least had some familiarity with the income numbers, but the wealth ones are also staggeringly low to me.
Of course, living in CA is living in a fiscal distortion zone too.
