re: #204 Hecuba’s daughter

My friend who avoids politics with me also detests corporate America; his only comment on the tax bill was his disapproval of limiting our SALT deductions. Unfortunately, he is a one issue voter — anti-choice. He can certainly be persuaded on economic issues.

Another one hates the tax bill — but he is a personal friend of Joel Pollack and so buys into all kinds of ridiculous theories. However, he again is someone persuadable on economic issues.

Of my dearest friends of many years is conservative. Not a Trumper at all but a full-on GOPer who doesn’t or won’t see that they are the same critter right now. We largely avoid ideological discussion but can have excellent talks on specific issues. She was all in on the Obamacare hatred until she saw someone she cared about, i.e. me , being saved by it after I had cancer and was unable to get health insurance at any price. She is now actually a supporter of Single Payer, having had her eyes opened. That is just one example of the difference we really can make. Can we do that with all of them? No. But joining in on the hatred of The Other is not a place I will go.
