Not if they are not officially Israeli soil. I think Peres’s proposal was pretty radical…or at least Carll’s response made it sound pretty radical. He was VERY upset that Peres would give chunks of Israeli land to the Vatican like that….again, if it’s not Israeli soil, and therefore no longer part of Israel, it’s real hard to blame Israelis when the Jordyptians attack the sites.

And the Vatican might not be so damned quick to call for “restraint from both sides” when they are begging the Israelis to come to their aid.
