It’s far more than just knowing what food groups are approved. I work in the industry and have to manage these details daily, and I’m telling you that whatever is getting taught is NOT getting through in a meaningful way — or it hasn’t been.

It’s interesting to see how the Brits are dealing with food education. The celebrity chefs and cooking shows in the UK are often food education advocates posing as entertainment. I’m not sure how much of a cultural change they have made but there’s a serious effort to teach people about food and cooking. American shows focus more on entertainment and unhealthy food like cakes and deserts.
