Some gun nuts (and I use the word in a sense that include most of my family), are just into the idea of helping out people they see as being vulnerable by arming them to the teeth. Women, usually, but Jews could also fall into the category. They’re being helpful, it can just sometimes seem sort of startling.

Nothing wrong with a woman packing heat!

The context simply smacked of the brand of crazy we’re more apt to find among the fringes of my religion these days…a suspicion which was strengthened when i read about the predominantly non-Jewish membership.
