The Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004, which created among other things the office of DNI, requires “Any individual nominated for appointment as Director of National Intelligence shall have extensive national security expertise.” Collins doesn’t even come close to meeting that bar.

You know that and I know that, but will it be enough to stop the Republicans from confirming him anyway? Who will be able to stop them?
