I bought liver in college for the same reason. $2 for a couple of pounds of liver and a few potatoes and onions would provide me with dinner for a few nights while I waited for my next paycheck. And I made it well.

I sometimes crave liver and onions—wife and kid wouldn’t have it in the house, so I’d satisfy the jonesing on TDY travel. Shoney’s does it well.
