I was speaking more in terms of if I want to use the URL in a post, but want to use it like a link.

Like so.

You can create a regular link with the link button, using the Image URL as the URL and whatever text you like. Then add

rel="shadowbox"

to the link code. For example:

<a href="http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/img/targetpractice_worst_of_both_worlds/2012/08/21/shoot-the-dog.jpg" rel="shadowbox">Like so.</a>
