Bush II did try to be reasonable on this issue, but no one would listen at the time. Now we are wondering why we didn’t.

One of the few things Bush tried that I could support, but his own party shot him down on it.

The only options would be to
a) institute a national citizen ID as proof of citizenship (would also end discussion of “voter ID fraud”) and
b) and to seal the borders with barbed wire, trenches and armed patrols.

I cannot imagine any support from the Right or the Left for either proposal.
